What’s Special About This Resort
Perhaps one of the luxury brand’s finest beach all-inclusive resorts, the Fairmont Mayakoba is set on almost 600 acres of beachfront tropical rainforest just a stone’s throw from Playa del Carmen. This resort’s rooms, suites, residences, and stunning surroundings have earned it Five Diamonds from AAA – plus, many visitors will find that this is a luxury experience within their budget. Along with the pristine beaches and beautiful pools, one of the area’s most prestigious golf courses, a world-class spa, and more than a dozen dining and drinking options make it so you never really have to leave this resort.
The Luxury All-Inclusive package at the Fairmont Mayakoba is an option for guests who’d like unlimited dining and drinking at most outlets. Wines and liquors are included when served by the glass, and certain menu items may incur an upgrade charge; restaurants that don’t participate offer a discount to all-inclusive guests. While not exclusive to all-inclusive guests, things like water sports equipment, a catamaran ride, golf cart rides, and other amenities are covered by a daily resort fee.

What to Do
Mayakoba is a gated resort community where you can truly experience the best of the Riviera Maya never without ever needing to leave. For one, Mayakoba Beach is one of the best on this stretch of the coast, with sugar-white sand and aqua-blue water. The Fairmont has paddle boards, snorkel gear, jet skiing, and an on-site dive center. A private yacht can take guests on sightseeing charters.
On land, the Cameleón par-72 golf course contains 18 of the region’s best holes. Its name comes from the fact that its challenges are constantly changing, with cenote caves, mangrove patches, and seaside greens providing both obstacles and scenery for golfers. Other land sports include tennis, padel, and archery.
Speaking of cenotes, Mayakoba has its very own – the property is crisscrossed by crystal-clear freshwater lagoons, and an underground cave entrance sits on the property. The parks of Xcaret, Xel-Ha, and Xplor are just 30 minutes down the coast if you want to see even more.
If you’d rather simply kick back, relax, and enjoy the sunshine, there are eight beautiful swimming pools around the resort to suit your preferences, whether you want to splash with your family or lounge out with a cocktail. The Fairmont Spa is an even quieter place to indulge further with massages and salon treatments as well.
What to Eat & Drink
There are 11 restaurants and bars around the Fairmont Mayakoba, as well as more at the community’s other resorts. However, not all of them are applicable to the all-inclusive package, so be sure to understand the details if that’s important to you.
Breakfast starts the day at La Laguna, a lovely dining room near the pools serving a contemporary Mexican and international buffet. This restaurant reopens again for dinner with a casual and delectable menu of local specialties, with notably good seafood.
For lunch, guests can enjoy a similar concept at La Cantina, a laid-back Mexican bar and grill known for its margaritas. Brisas at Mayakana is another all-day dining option with mezze Mediterranean tapa plates served by the beach. Fuego and Aqua at Mayakana are the all-day poolside options for light bites and cocktails.
Along with the aforementioned La Laguna and Brisas, nighttime options include Tauro Steakhouse and Bassano Italian Cuisine. Room service is available 24 hours per day as well. Other dining options, such as Ki Beach Bar & Korean BBQ and El Cameleón’s restaurant, can be visited for a charge.
Room Guide
The Fairmont Mayakoba has 401 rooms, including 39 suites, nestled among its gardens, lagoons, and beachfront. There are a ton of individual categories grouped into guest rooms, suites, and residences.
Guest Rooms: There are Fairmont Rooms and Casita Rooms – the latter is slightly larger and has a more traditional decor theme. All come with either one king or two queen beds. View options include resort, garden, mangrove, water canal, and beachfront.
Suites: Ranging from 915 to over 2,200 square feet in size, suites are the much roomier and more luxurious option – especially because many of them come with private pools. Specialty and Presidential Suites are especially unique and more private than the others.
Residences: With three or four bedrooms, these luxurious condominiums are the ultimate retreat for a family in search of Riviera Maya tranquility and exclusivity. With private swimming pools, several terraces, and giant indoor and outdoor living spaces, it’s the perfect place to spend time together.
Special Experiences
One of the most special things about the Fairmont Mayakoba is the fact that the community has its own 55-foot VanDutch yacht available for excursions and charter. Visit the local reefs, see the idyllic beaches of islands like Isla Mujeres or Cozumel, or watch the sunset from the sea – all available as part of group excursions or for private charter.
The Fairmont also hosts a sunrise paddleboard session in the mornings for those who want to see the sun come up from the water, too. Windsurf lessons and scuba courses are other water experiences available.
Guests can also explore the interior waters of Mayakoba on a different kind of boat tour. The hotel’s Tatich-Ha (Mayan guide) will accompany you on a small boat to tour the lagoons and mangroves that cross Mayakoba, pointing out the rich wildlife, area history, and current conservation efforts along the way.
