Ambergris Cay Private Island

What’s Special About this Resort

The Ambergris Cay Resort could be mistaken for literal heaven. This private island is surely the dreamiest way to vacation, and for those who can afford it, we couldn’t recommend this trip of a lifetime more.

Turks and Caicos are already known for their stunning beaches, but the privacy of this island and the truly pristine coast simply can’t be beat. Between the beautiful waterfront property, the gorgeous hiking trails, the fun water activities and the gourmet a la carte dining, you’ll never want to leave.

This resort is the absolute pinnacle of luxury, and unfortunately it is priced accordingly. One single night at the Ambergris Cay resort could run you over six thousand dollars, which is an extremely prohibitive rate for most travelers. However if you have the means, we highly recommend this true paradise.

All airport transfers, premium beverages, a la carte meals, non-motorized water sports gear, tennis, and more are included in the price of your stay at Ambergris Cay.

Things we like:
  • check-mark
In-suite amenities go above and beyond – in-suite washer dryer, pool needs, board games, binoculars and even a telescope for stargazing
  • check-mark
All food is a la carte – no long standing buffet food

Alexandra Resort

What’s Special About this Resort

Just down the beach from the Beaches resort is the Alexandra Resort; another all-inclusive stay located on the gorgeous beachfront of Grace Bay. This resort is far more low-key and a bit quieter than some of the family-friendly options with waterparks and character experiences. Don’t get us wrong, you can still bring your kids here – in fact, kids stay for free, but this resort is just as suitable for couples as it is for families.

One of the major perks of staying at the Alexandra Resort is the included access to its sister resort, Blue Haven. Shuttles to and from the resorts are included with your stay, so you can check out all the island has to offer and get more dining options, pools, and shopping destinations out of your vacation.

Meals at any of the resort restaurants, domestic and premium beverages, use of the water trampoline, snorkeling gear, kayaks, sailboats, paddle boards, and more are all included in your stay at the Alexandra Resort. Spa treatments, motorized water gear, and “dream tours” are luxuries available for an additional fee.

Blue Haven Resort

What’s Special About this Resort

A short trip from Grace Bay towards the northern tip of the island, you’ll find what they call “the most exclusive address in Turks and Caicos,” the beautiful Blue Haven Resort and Marina. Under the same ownership as The Alexandra Resort, you can expect the same beautiful facilities and the utmost level of service.

The building has a beautiful Mediterranean vibe that truly feels like an escape from reality. The picturesque destination makes for stunning photos and would be an ideal venue for a wedding or comparable celebration.

Much like the sister resort, The Alexandra, kids stay free at Blue Haven. While the resort doesn’t necessarily make a point to cater to kids, it is certainly a resort the whole family can enjoy. From lounging in the infinity pool with a cocktail from the swim-up bar to racing through the water on a kayak, you have the freedom to spend your vacation however you see fit.

Meals at any of the resort restaurants, domestic and premium beverages, use of the water trampoline, snorkeling gear, kayaks, sailboats, paddle boards, and more are all included in your stay at the Blue Haven Resort. Available at an additional fee, they have kiteboarding lessons and rental, windsurfing lessons and rental, mangrove guided tours, paddle board yoga, sailing lessons, and more.

Things we like:
  • check-mark
Resort grounds and facilities are gorgeous and idyllic
  • check-mark
Tons of options for water sports (though not all are included in the price of your stay)
  • check-mark
    Kids stay free

Things we don't like:
  • check-mark
The spa services and facilities are outdated, underwhelming and not included in the price of your stay
  • check-mark
The resort is located on a marina, so if you don’t like looking out at sailboats and yachts we’d recommend one of the other beachfront resorts

What’s Special About this Resort

Pine Cay Turks and Caicos, similar in feel to the Ambergris Cay Resort, is a highly luxurious, highly private, all-inclusive resort stay. Featuring beach cottages right on the sand mere steps from the water with polished and modern interiors, this is one of the dreamier resorts we’ve covered.

Pine Cay is a well-rounded, beautiful resort, but the accommodations really steal the show. Beach cottages are right on the sand, with beautiful finishes and an inside/outside feel. Each cottage comes equipped with its own private outdoor shower, hammock, private beach cabana with sun loungers and towels, as well as your very own golf cart to mosey around the island.

All the food comes from the same kitchen – gourmet and a la carte. Whether you choose to dine on the beach, in your room, poolside, or on a private dining excursion under the stars, you’re sure to be equally wowed by the food and the scenery.

The Ritz Carlton Turks & Caicos

What’s Special About this Resort

The Ritz Carlton Turks and Caicos, much like other Ritz Carlton properties, is a vision of elegance and excellent service. The resort underwent a recent remodeling, elevating the ambience and luxurious feel of the property. While this hotel is not all inclusive, it is one of the most beautiful and highly rated hotels in the Caribbean, so we simply had to feature it. While you may miss the convenience of an all inclusive stay, they are able to provide more luxurious a la carte services and experiences, and you are able to spend your dollar exactly where you want to spend it.

While the Ritz Carlton Turks and Caicos Hotel is not all inclusive, there are still some included perks that come with the price of your stay. Morning coffee, select water sports gear, access to spa facilities like the sauna and steam room, and more are complimentary for hotel guests

COMO Parrot Cay Resort

What’s Special About This Resort

While not an all-inclusive resort, COMO Parrot Cay gets a special mention – this is undoubtedly one of the most private, exclusive, and luxurious properties in Turks and Caicos. Parrot Cay is a relatively large undeveloped cay just beside North Caicos island, a secluded spot set away from the busy Providenciales. There isn’t much on the cay besides the beautiful resort and its villas, its exceptional spa, and miles of soft-sand and aqua-water beaches.

We would have loved to see this resort offer an all-inclusive option, but even without one, its wonderful amenities still make it a top choice. Two beautiful swimming pools, one of them adults-only, complement the picture-perfect beaches that surround the rooms and villas, as do the complimentary kayaks, paddleboards, bikes, and other equipment available for guests.

Things we like:
  • check-mark
One of the most private and secluded resorts in Turks and Caicos
  • check-mark
Highly luxurious accommodations, including beach houses and villas with private pools

A Restful Vacation & A Busy Ecosystem

The Turks and Caicos islands are known first and foremost as a tourist destination, drawing over a million visitors a year with their crystal clear, bluest-of-blue waters. People travel from all over the world to get a break from reality and experience a bit of true paradise here in the Turks and Caicos islands.

The islands don’t have any substantial exports, so tourism is the main economic driver. While it may just be a beautiful vacation spot for most of the population, these islands couldn’t be more important for the many wildlife species that reside there or depend on the islands during their migration. Humpback whales, flamingos, sea turtles, are all common sightings, as well as roaming horses, dogs, and even the occasional donkey.

The Turks and Caicos islands are home to in-tact coral reefs which are home to an extremely bio-diverse ecosystem. As a result, the islands make for awesome fishing and snorkeling experiences, with common sightings of stingrays, sea turtles, all different shapes and sizes of fish, and the famous Queen Conch. The islands are also home to over 200 species of birds, including the ever-popular flamingo, making for incredible bird watching.

Venture Out of the Resort

The Turks and Caicos Islands are far from a bustling city, so we really recommend this destination to those who are seeking a relaxing beach vacation. In our humble opinion, the biggest to-do for a Turks and Caicos Island vacation is to soak up your time on the beach. The islands are home to some of the most beautiful, postcard-worthy beaches on the planet, and we think vacations here are best spent unwinding in the sand, or having some fun in the crystal-clear water.

That being said, relaxing doesn’t have to mean boring. Every resort offers some variety of water sports equipment included in the price of your stay or for a small additional fee, in addition, the concierge teams are more than happy to coordinate some island adventures.

We have put together the Best Things to Do in Turks and Caicos for anyone wanting to get off the sun lounger, even if just for a little bit.

Explore the beautiful landscape by bike, ATV, or even on horseback, or rent a private charter for a sunset dinner cruise. Spend the day on the water scavenging for conch shells, or chasing the illusive bonefish on a fishing charter.

Get familiar with the diverse ecosystem of Turks and Caicos by going on a hike, a bird watching tour, or a guided snorkeling adventure. Sea turtles, stingrays, and even a shark or two could cross your path while exploring the gorgeous, bio-diverse coral reefs. Snap some photos of the iconic paradise birds, flamingos, out in the wild. It is sure to feel like a bit of a fever dream when you see them casually milling about the islands.

Last but not least, the easiest excuse to get out of the resort is the miles and miles of pristine beach laid out before you. Enjoy the quest for the perfect spot to post up, catch up on a good book, and enjoy your best life.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is the best part of Turks and Caicos to stay?

There isn’t a bad spot on the Turks and Caicos islands, but certain parts could be better for you depending on how you like to spend your vacation. We have a full guide on Where to Stay in Turks and Caicos to help you decide.

If privacy is important to you, one of the private island resorts like Pine Cay or Ambergris Cay might be a good choice. If you’re looking for a little more action or a water trampoline here and there, the Grace Bay resorts like Beaches or the Alexandra would be our recommendation.

When is the best time to visit Turks and Caicos?

Turks and Caicos is mostly sunny year round, but you don’t want to be there during peak hurricane season from August-October. Traveling in February, March and April will give you a good balance of weather, availability and more affordable prices.

Dive into our Visitors Guide to Turks and Caicos.

What is the prettiest beach in Turks and Caicos?

Grace Bay, home to Beaches and the Alexandra Resort, is said to be one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, with optimal waters for diving, snorkeling, boating, and more. While Grace Bay may have global appeal and popularity, we think it’s safe to say that most of the beaches on the Turks and Caicos islands are some of the most gorgeous, idyllic beaches we have ever seen.

Is Turks and Caicos cheaper than Hawaii?

Depending on where you’re traveling from, flight prices could definitely determine which is more affordable. For those on the west coast in the US, traveling to Hawaii is far cheaper (and quicker) than spending vacation money on likely several flights to get to Turks and Caicos.

Flights aside, it is cheaper to stay in Hawaii than it is in T&C. While the all-inclusive rates in T&C are appealing and convenient, it’s definitely cheaper to book your stay a la carte in Hawaii.

Do you need a passport to go to Turks and Caicos?

Yes, a valid passport is required for entry and exit, and keep in mind the time you will spend in customs on your arrival date. You can find our the details you need for your vacation to Turks and Caicos here.
