What’s Special About This Resort
The Palm at Playa is one of the trendiest all-inclusive resorts in the Riviera Maya and offers a different experience than most all-inclusive resorts in the area. Rather than occupying a spot on the town’s Caribbean coastline, this is more of a city-style resort set a few blocks back – but don’t worry, it’s just a short stroll to the sand, and the famous Fifth Avenue is steps from the door. Plus, The Palm’s main attraction is its rooftop, hosting an awesome pool, bar, and lounging area. The crowd here is young and in search of partying, which is important to know before going. You’ll find rates at this resort quite attractive.
The Palm at Playa doesn’t do a great job at advertising what’s included in its all-inclusive package, despite offering it when you go to book a room. But we’ve got you covered. All dining and drinking are included in your rate at the resort’s restaurant and bar. Of course, you’ll have full access to The Roof as well.

What to Do
The experience at The Palm at Playa very much surrounds its iconic Rooftop, where most of the action and socialization happens. Up there, you’ll find a swimming pool surrounded by day beds, lounge chairs, and seating areas, as well as a jacuzzi and bar. Eat, drink, relax, refresh, and meet people at this exclusive sun-drenched spot.
The city-center location also means you are steps away from the liveliness of Playa del Carmen. Dine and shop around La Quinta Avenida, which is practically next to the resort, and hit some of the other beach bars and nightclubs Playa is so famous for. In fact, that’s important to know whether you plan to party or not – this resort is definitely in a loud area, and most guests here are looking for music and late nights; consider this if you’re looking for a mostly relaxing escape.
The warm water and white sand of the Caribbean Sea are also just a few minutes away, as are activities like snorkeling, diving, parasailing, and more.
If you’re looking for adventures, Quintana Roo is packed full of them. Visit the Xcaret parks to see some of the most amazing natural scenery in North America. There are plenty more cenotes dotting the region, just waiting to be explored as well. Or, go offshore for a day trip to Cozumel via the ferry that departs just a short walk away.
What to Eat & Drink
There’s just one main restaurant at The Palm at Playa serving all meals. The international breakfast buffet is free of charge for all guests, all-inclusive or not. Afternoon and evening dining menus include contemporary dishes of Mexican and international inspiration served in a casual atmosphere.
The Rooftop bar serves snacks and a wide range of drinks all day and continues doing so very late at night, as there are often DJ or dance parties. Room service is available 24 hours per day.
While the hotel dining is well-liked, most guests enjoy stepping out onto La Quinta Avenida to try its wide range of food and drink. There’s a cerveceria right across the street, as well as a spot for Italian next door.
Room Guide
There are 69 comfortable rooms at The Palm at Playa to retreat to after a day of swimming, lounging, or adventuring and after a night of Playa del Carmen partying. There are no ocean or pool views to choose from, so it’s really about the space that you want; note that some rooms are noisier than others, too.
Palm Room Standard: With one king or two single beds, there’s just enough space in these small but stylish rooms to get the rest you need for fun days and nights around Playa del Carmen.
Signature Palm Suite: With a bar and spacious living room, you can add a third person to your crew in this suite with one king and one sofa.
Palm Loft: These rooms also have separate living rooms and have the unique feature of double showers plus balconies. Note that some of them are on the noisy side of the hotel, so be sure to make it clear if you don’t want that at the time of your reservation.
Master Elon Suite: It’s the boho-contemporary decor that sets this suite apart from the others, designed for VIP guests who want something more than the standard, along with exclusivity and privacy in their room and balcony.
Deluxe Suites: The most spacious of all, these suites come with one or two bedrooms, along with a balcony facing the gardens or street. This is another room that can accommodate up to three guests.
Special Experiences
While it’s true that The Palm at Playa is mostly about fun and partying, guests who want to relax can certainly find that opportunity. The hotel can arrange for spa services like massages, as well as coordinate yoga, sound healing, guided meditations, cocoa ceremonies, and more.
Look for special theme nights at The Rooftop – one of the favorites is definitely Latin dance nights. It’s easy to find similar experiences in the bars and clubs around Playa del Carmen as well.
More special experiences can be found around Playa del Carmen and the rest of Quintana Roo. Hike to cenotes, swim with dolphins, or explore underwater museums off of Isla Mujeres – there are endless unique things to do around here.
