What’s Special About This Resort
The southern part of Cozumel is wilder and less developed than the San Miguel area, and can also be cheaper – visitors who like the sound of all that should consider the Iberostar Cozumel. This bungalow-style resort sits on a white-sand beach with rich snorkeling and diving grounds just offshore. Adventures like water slides, ATV trails, and cultural experiences are available at a variety of theme parks just minutes away; the exotic Punta Sur (South Point), with its stunning shoreline and archaeological sites, is just a short drive down the ring road.

What to Do
Guests at the Iberostar Cozumel can cool off in a number of swimming pools, but as for the beach, they’ll be better off getting in with a snorkel, as the coral reef begins just steps from the sand. It is magnificent to explore and highly recommended – even more so if you’re scuba-certified, in which case the on-site dive center can show you the best spots.
Just minutes up the road is Playa Mia Grand Beach Park, where there are even more ways to cool off. The park is home to waterslides, an offshore obstacle course, and equipment rentals on the beach. Across the street is the Cozumel ATV Park for those who would rather go offroading in the jungle.
Whether you self-drive in a rental car, take a guided tour, or call a taxi, consider spending a day at Punta Sur, the southern tip of the island, just a short ride away. The beach is excellent for swimming, snorkeling, and playing; the lagoon and dune landscape is crossed with hiking trails, and there are fascinating Mayan ruins along the shore.
What to Eat & Drink
There are five à-la-carte and buffet restaurants at Iberostar Cozumel, along with four bars. Breakfast is served at Cozumel Buffet, where a wide array of worldwide favorites is laid out daily.
The buffet continues at lunchtime, but at El Cedral, where Mexican specialties are combined with dishes from around the world, including live cooking demonstrations. Guests can also opt to stay under the sun at Bar on the Beach or the La Perla Pool Bar – the latter has a counter in the pool, eliminating the need to interrupt your swim.
Cozumel Buffet reopens for dinner and does a different cuisine each night: Mexican, Italian, Caribbean, and American are a few popular ones. El Cedral also transforms into a Texan smokehouse for dinner with an à-la-carte menu. Las Dos Marías is your à-la-carte spot for Mexican fare, while La Pagoda serves Japanese favorites like sushi, maki, teppanyaki, and ramen.
Room Guide
Rooms at Iberostar Cozumel are within colorful, thatched-roof, bungalow-style buildings. And while most accommodations may be a bit more basic and less extravagant than some of those of the island’s other resorts, they are all still more than comfortable and certainly fair for the price you pay.
Premium: There are a variety of Premium rooms with different views, which include jungle, ocean, and pool. Other differentiators include closer distances to the pools or being located on the beach. At 270 square feet and with one king or two double beds, these rooms are suitable for couples or small families who don’t need extra space.
Ocean View & Oceanfront Suites: The full living room of these suites nearly doubles the floor space of a standard room. Both have great views of the Caribbean Sea, while Oceanfront puts you as close as possible to the sand. Only king beds are available in suites.
Presidential Suite: The largest room in the resort goes above and beyond, with luxury home-like furnishings that include a kitchen, dining, and living room. The top amenity is the private oceanfront swimming pool and massive outdoor space to enjoy all to yourself.
Special Experiences
Special activities offered by the staff at Iberostar Cozumel include bingo, water aerobics courses, beach yoga, and much more. Evenings bring a whole new round of entertainment, including live music and performance shows.
Kids on a Cozumel vacation can take advantage of Star Camp, the resort’s children’s program. Besides all kinds of fun activities, kids learn about recycling and caring for the planet – one of the reasons Cozumel can remain so beautiful. They may even get to make a short film during their time to share with their parents later.
Parents, on the other hand, might want to take advantage of Star Camp and its evening babysitting services to take time for themselves. Romantic dinners, spa treatments, and unique DIY workshops are some of the ways to connect while on vacation.
Iberostar Resorts are known for their all-inclusive packages around the Caribbean, which offer all à-la-carte meals, unlimited snacks, drinks, and minibar refills. Guests can also enjoy one hour per day of non-motorized water sports, day and evening live entertainment, and kid’s activities. Read all the details of the inclusions here.
