What’s Special About This Resort
Dreams Las Mareas Costa Rica is an all-inclusive resort that could hold many titles, but if you love stepping into a sparkling swimming pool straight from your balcony, this is your Guanacaste escape.
It’s situated on the quiet Playa el Jobo, which is found in the far north of the country’s Pacific side, approaching the border with Nicaragua. Therefore, this place should be on your list if you’re looking for a secluded couple’s escape, a family adventure, or a luxurious and special vacation in general.
A sandy shore is on one side of the expansive resort, while wild jungle surrounds it on the others. Fill your vacation with time at the adults-only pool, fun at the kid’s club, scuba diving, fishing, and much more.
The all-inclusive experience at Dreams Las Mareas Costa Rica is a good one, without restrictions on the unlimited dining and drinking. Nonstop room service and lots of resort entertainment are additional perks.

➞ What to Do
Besides the swim-out rooms that we love, there are three pool experiences at Dreams Las Mareas. The upper pool is especially family-friendly with a waterslide. The middle pool is a quieter, adults-only haven, and the lower pool is just steps from the golden sand of Playa El Jobo.
Non-motorized water sports are free and ready to enjoy on the sand, while activities like snorkeling, diving, and fishing excursions can easily take you further out. Just south of the resort is a stretch of coastline protected by a national park, where inaccessible beaches and tiny islets beckon those willing to make the journey.
Children can enjoy all the fun and activities of the all-day kid’s club, and teens even have a special social club in the evenings. Parents, on the other hand, might enjoy a day at the Spa by Pevonia, or a romantic activity like horseback riding on the beach. The whole family can come together for weekly beach parties, theme nights, shows, and lessons like cooking and Spanish.
➞ What to Eat & Drink
There are eight dining and drinking options at Dreams Las Mareas, which offers a great variety. The main buffet restaurant is the World Café, serving an international spread of cuisines from around the world for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
During the day, guests can sit down for refreshing grilled specialties at the Seaside Grill. The Pizzeria is another great casual lunch, with burgers and other sandwiches as well. The Barefoot Grill is the main spot for quick bites and cocktails by the pool, as are the numerous bars in the lobby, the spa, and even in the pool for swim-up service.
Evenings see a number of specialty à-la-carte restaurants open up. Try elegant Mexican food at El Patio, exotic sushi at Gohan, Pan-Asian dishes at Himitsu, or fresh seafood at Oceana. Transport yourself to the Mediterranean for a night with fine French food at L’Étoile or gourmet Italian cuisine at Portofino.
➞ Room Guide
With nearly 450 rooms, Dreams Las Mareas is a large resort, but there are only a few room categories to choose from. It should be easy to choose one based on the view and size you want. However, note that you must book a Club Level accommodation for that awesome swim-out feature we’ve highlighted; this special category gets you extra perks as well.
Standard Junior Suites: Views from these standard rooms include the jungle, the pool, or the ocean, and they come with one king or two double beds. They’re nearly 500 square feet in size and come with furnished balconies, including a personal outdoor jacuzzi, putting them a step above other resorts’ standard rooms.
Swim-Out Junior Suites & Master Suites: Look to the Club Level categories to find these special rooms, which are of similar size as those on the upper floors but have the awesome benefits of direct pool access. The terraces are very large and beautifully furnished, and guests can enter the pool from true stairs rather than a small ladder.
Master Suites & Specialty Suites: Full suites are available on upper floors as well, replacing the pool access with balconies. This may be important to families who like the idea of the extra space but don’t want small kids around the water’s edge. All suites are in the Club Level category, giving guests access to the exclusive lounge and other benefits.
➞ Special Experiences
Dreams Las Mareas offers the possibility of arranging a private dinner apart from the standard restaurants and bars, which is a great idea for making a couple’s stay more romantic or a family’s vacation more memorable. If you’re in a room with a lot of outdoor space, this could be an amazing choice of location.
An additional benefit of the remote location of this resort is its access to Guanacaste National Park and the adjacent Santa Rosa National Park. Excursions to these places reveal majestic volcanoes, active hot springs and thermal vents, surreal waterfalls, and exotic river rapids. Arrange a tour to see the magical nature of this part of Costa Rica, or better yet, make it a private excursion to make it all the more special.
