Oileus Beach Tent – New Tech for the Pop-Up
There is quite a steep learning curve when it comes to setting up the Oileus Beach Tent – and the instructions are of little to no help. However, once you set it up the first time you are sure to get the hang of it, making future setups significantly faster.
While we don’t think the Oileus Beach Tent should necessarily be marketing itself as an extra large beach tent, it is still quite a spacious option, comfortably hosting around 3 bodies.
We would advise against using this product for solo beach adventures – while it’s not huge, it’s a lot to manage by yourself. In windy conditions, it’s definitely helpful to have an extra set of hands in the event that this tent turns into a bit of a kite during setup.
Oileus Beach Tent Material
The Oileus Beach Tent’s 210T polyester fabric has a 3000mm PU coating, blocking 99% of harmful UV rays. The durable tent floor is made from 150D polyester, which proved durable when encountering beach gear, shoes, and sandy debris. The thick 8.5mm fiberglass poles also felt high-quality with reliable durability, and the tent came with stakes and guy lines for added stability in windy weather.
The polyester material is waterproof, but the mesh windows do not seal shut, allowing water to leak through during inclement weather. The double-layer windows offer a mesh opening for airflow and bug control, as well as a roll-up sunshade option that offers a little more privacy.
Beach Tent Size & Weight
The Oileus Beach Tent offers sufficient space with dimensions of 92 x 45 x 45 inches, comfortably accommodating multiple individuals and providing limited storage of belongings and gear. The tent remains conveniently portable, weighing just 4 pounds, which makes it an ideal option for those seeking a family-sized beach shelter that’s easy to transport and set up.
The Oileus beach tent is marketed as an “XL” shade option, but its dimensions are actually quite modest, only accommodating about 3 adults comfortably. We found the Easthills Outdoors Instant Shader Beach Tent to be a little bigger to fit the extra person or 2.
Nevertheless, we would caution against using this product for solo beach adventures – in windy conditions, it may be helpful to have an extra set of hands since this large beach tent can be a bit unmanageable before staking down the corners.
Oileus Pop-Up Performance
The Oileus Beach Tent offers outstanding performance with several thoughtful features. Its dependable anchoring system includes 6 attached sandbags, guy lines, and metal stakes, ensuring stability even in gusty coastal conditions. The tent is constructed from tangibly durable materials, ensuring its longevity and resistance to wear and tear over time.
Inside, the tent features two mesh pockets for convenient storage of personal items, along with a handy hanging hook for drying clothes or wet towels. The mesh windows with roll-up covers provide excellent ventilation and optional privacy for when you need somewhere to change into dry clothes.
We have very few critiques, but there are a few things to mention. Setup is tricky the first time around, and the instructions are of little help. However, it goes up fairly quickly once you get the hang of it.
While it is technically a “pop-up” tent with its patented pop-up mechanism, it still requires quite a bit more effort to assemble than, say, the Playieer Pop-Up Beach Tent that you can just throw out onto the sand. Getting this tent back in the bag is also quite difficult, but bringing some sort of bungee or tie to wrap the tent before storing it in the bag proved to be quite helpful.
The extended floor flap folds up for privacy and is secured with a number of velcro strips. While the velcro does the job, we tend to prefer a zipper front for a more reliable hold, like found on the Outdoor Master Pop-up Beach Tent and the Coleman Beach Shade Canopy Tent – especially when privacy is a priority and the wind is gusty.
Really Great Beach Tent Value
Ringing in around $60 on Amazon, the Oileus Beach Tent is at the lower price range for beach tents this size. With tough materials, great anchoring, lightweight portability, and relative ease of setup, this tent checks all the important boxes.
Three’s Company
Ultimately, we found the Oileus Beach Tent to be a great pick when it comes to shade at the beach. Between the quality of materials, ease of assembly, portability, and overall excellent value, we had a hard time finding things to complain about. We highly recommend the Oileus Beach Tent for small groups and families in need of dependable shade this summer.

Frequently asked questions
The best beach tent for your sunny day on the shore will likely come down to your needs and intended use – how many people you need to accommodate, how much gear you need to store, what kind of terrain you’ll be in, etc.
A few things to hold out for, which are further outlined in our buyer’s guide, would be optimal sun protection, good anchoring mechanisms like sandbags and stakes, lightweight portability, and ease of assembly.
The Playieer Beach Tent is by far the easiest pop-up beach tent we’ve had the opportunity to test. While the setup and breakdown isn’t exactly intuitive the first time around, it is quite easy once you get the hang of it.
It is as easy as pulling it out of the bag, throwing it on the sand, and filling the anchor sandbags for stability. The breakdown can be tricky, but it twists up into a compact disc like some dashboard shades for your car.
Beach tents, canopies, and umbrellas are all very effective at keeping users protected from the sun’s harmful UV rays. Their effectiveness can vary depending on factors like size, material, and setup. Some may not perform as well in windy conditions or may not offer adequate space for larger groups or additional gear.
Choosing the right beach tent and setting it up correctly will make a difference in your experience, so we recommend doing some research on our buyer’s guide before making a final purchase.
