Best Compression Set
Where to buy Tripped Compression Packing Cubes:
Tripped Compression Packing Cubes Product

Tripped Travel Gear is a small business that has the goal of bringing quality travel equipment at lower prices than some of its competitors. Its Carry On Set, a six-pack of compression packing cubes, is designed to fit an entire week’s worth of clothing and supplies in just one carry-on bag.

This packing cube set uses reinforced double-zipper designs to compress. The cubes are made of water-resistant ripstop fabric. In the real world, these cubes do a fantastic job of reducing the space they take up in your luggage.

There are some downsides, like frequent snagging when the compression cube is full, and a few of the pieces could have improved sizing and dimensions. But at just under $50, this six-piece set is worth testing in the real world to see if it can perform as well as or better than its higher-priced compression cube competitors.

First Thoughts On The Tripped 6-Pack Compression Cube Set

The Carry On Set from Tripped Travel Gear, fresh out of the packaging

When you first open up your six-piece compression carry-con cube pack from Tripped Travel Gear, you notice that you get a lot of what appear to be well-made packing cubes for under $50. The material looks professional, and you immediately notice the ripstop grid-like technology in the fabric.

These pieces are also very lightweight. While light, they don’t feel flimsy. The zippers also look well-made. When tested, all the zippers open and close smoothly. The two-zipper system, which is fairly common on compression cubes, is straightforward, and there don’t appear to be any design flaws.

The four compression cubes come with handles, which is nice, and bound to come in handy when packing and unpacking. The laundry bag has durable clips, and the hardware looks built to last. Both the laundry bag and the tube cube appear a bit smaller than you might hope.

The cube tube cube can’t fit most sneakers but rather seems more designed for slippers or random items. All in all, this six-piece packing cube set looks great upon initial inspection and looks ideal if you are looking to organize and consolidate items in your favorite travel luggage. The next test is to see how well these packing cubes compress clothing and hold up in the real world.

Design and Materials Of the Tripped Compression Cube Set

Tripped Travel Gear uses a smart and intuitive design in this six-piece packing cube set, and it is clear that this company knows a thing or two about frequent travel.

The four compression cubes, large and small, have a wide rectangular shape that allows you to stack them one on top of the other. When compressed, these packing cubes stack easily and still make it easy to close a clamshell carry-on luggage.

The materials are also far superior to low-budget brands. The ripstop polyurethane fabric is very lightweight and also fairly water-resistant. This is great because you want your packing cubes to free up space in your luggage without increasing your bag’s weight.

These packing cubes are the best of all worlds – they offer a lightweight design like the Osprey Ultralight Packing Cubes but these have compression. They offer compression, like the Peak Design Packing Cubes but at a more affordable price point. And while they have a lower price point they offer higher quality than the AmazonBasics or Bagail Packing Cubes. It is easy to see why they are our favorite.

The water resistance is bound to come in handy during the unfortunate occurrence of a leaky item in your bag. The best design features, however, are the ways in which these packing cubes compress.

Tripped Travel Gears Two Methods Of Compression

Tripped Compression Packing Cubes Zipper

This six-piece travel cube set uses two methods of compression to maximize space in your carry-on bag. Both work exceptionally well to reduce space in your luggage but use different methods.

  • The Two-Zipper System: The two-zipper method of compression involves a series of zipper paths. The first zipper is used to close the packing cube. The other goes around the entire closed packing cube, cinching the edges to reduce the volume.

Thanks to the quality zippers and durable materials, this compression method works well. The only time you run into problems is when these cubes are full, and the compression zipper ends up frequently snagging on the ripstop fabric when you try to close it. Otherwise, this design is highly effective.

  • Roll And Cinch Laundry Bag: The laundry bag uses a roll and cinch system to compress. You simply push down on the bag to remove extra air and then roll up the bag along the band at the top of the bag.

Once rolled, you use the clips to secure your rolling, and the bag stays compressed. This works great to both compress any dirty clothes and keep their undesirable smells locked in.

With a great design, ample organization options, and an attractive price, we were eager to test out how well the Tripped Travel Gear compression packing cubes function in actual practice. When packing them up and testing their limits, these are great packing cubes that perform very well overall, with just a few small caveats.

The packing cubes are very easy to load up with clothes. The sizing makes it possible to fold your clothes in multiple methods, and still compress them. The laundry bag is great at keeping bad smell locked in, and it compresses better than a lot of other laundry bags.

The materials are also impressive for the price point. They don’t buckle under pressure, can handle a bit of moisture, and don’t show signs of wear and tear after several uses.

The only downside to these is the fact that the zippers do snag sometimes when you compress the cubes.

It helps to place a finger beneath the zipper to guide it, preventing it from catching on the polyurethane fabric. This issue gets worse with the more you pack it. In the end, it isn’t a major issue. Just make sure you budget time, as patience is the key to success with these compression zippers.

The laundry bag has a great design, but it would have been ideal to make it just a bit larger. If it could hold a few days more worth of laundry, this six-piece packing cube set would be almost perfect for a week-long trip, but this sized bag is bound to fill up sooner than that. Still, the bag itself is great at compression, so it is still a great product. All in all, this is a user-friendly and highly functional packing cube set.

Features Worth Noting On the Tripped Compression Packing Cube Set

Two Small Packing Cubes

small packing cubes
The two small cubes - one compressed and one extended.

The Carry On Set from Tripped Travel Gear features two smaller cubes. These cubes measure 10” long by 7” wide and are 4” deep when extended. When compressed, however, these cubes can get as narrow as 1”, which is quite impressive.

Naturally, the more you stuff in these cubes, the wider part of the cube will protrude. Still, these are great cubes to pack a week’s worth of undergarments in one and about five t-shirts in the other.

Two Large Packing Cubes

Tripped Compression Packing Cubes Two

The two large cubes are essentially identical in design to the smaller cubes, only bigger. These cubes measure 14” long by 10” wide. Just like the smaller cube they have a depth of 4” when extended and can compress as small as 1”.

These two cubes can fit up to eight outfits, or several bulkier items like fluffy fleece jackets and sweaters, as these cubes can significantly reduce their size. Having two cubes of this size makes fitting a full week of clothing into a carry-on less of a dream and more of a real possibility.

Tube Packing Cube

The two large cubes fit pants, sweaters, and t-shirts.

The tube cube is an interesting addition to the arsenal. It is the only piece in the set that does not compress, and it doesn’t have a very clear purpose.

Still, the zippers and materials are the same as the other cubes, all of which are of great quality. This cube can be used for random small items, like socks or electronic accessories.

It would have been amazing if the cube was a bit larger so it could fit a pair of sneakers, but as it is designed, it isn’t deep enough for that. While confusing, users are bound to find some use for this non-compressing small cube.

Laundry Bag

The laundry bag has a great design. It comes with a band and clip hardware that allows you to roll, cinch, and lock it in place. This helps lock in bad smalls and also keeps your dirty laundry compressed into a small area of your luggage.

Various Color And Design Options

Tripped Compression has some fun and exciting design options for this six-pack packing cube set. You can choose from standard colors, like navy and white (pictured), and other solid colors.

But you can also choose from various graphic designs, including an American National Park-themed set. These designs are great for passionate travelers, and can also make a great gift.

Are Tripped Compression Packing Cubes A Good Value?

Tripped Compression Packing Cubes Flat Lay

For less than $50, it is hard to say no to this well-made six-piece compression packing cube set. Tripped Travel Gear’s Carry On Set exceeds expectations for the price, and this set provides all the compression and organization you will need for shorter trips that don’t require checked luggage.

Best of all, the amount of compression this set provides is likely to help prevent you from having to check a bag, which can cost you upwards of the price of this set. These packing cubes are constructed using quality materials that you will find on more expensive brands.

Five out of the six cubes all compress your belongings exceptionally well. These packing cubes might not be perfect, but for the price, it is hard to find a better deal, especially if you are looking for a complete set for shorter journeys of five to seven days.

The Peak Design Compression Travel Cubes come at a higher quality and a higher price point, but are not as lightweight, nor have the versatility of the Tripped set, plus they are much more expensive. All in all, Tripped Travel Gear delivers on its goal to provide exceptional value with this packing cube set.

Final Recommendations For The Tripped Travel Packing Cubes

Tripped Compression Packing Cubes Five Bags

The Carry On Set of packing cubes from Tripped Travel Gear provides all you can hope for in a compression packing cube set for shorter journeys. The small and large compression cubes are exceptional at reducing the amount of space your clothing takes up in your carry-on bag. Even the laundry bag is great at compression.

The fabric is both water and rip-resistant, and it comes in some unique and exciting colors and patterns. At a cost of less than $50, this set essentially pays for itself, as it keeps you from having to check a bag on those trips where you are worried if you can fit everything into just one carry-on.

We Recommend Them!

Sure, these packing cubes could be better. The smaller cube and the laundry bag could both be bigger. The two-zipper design, while excellent at compression, tends to snag as the packing cubes are filled up. But this complete packing cube set is built to last and delivers where you need it to.

If you take frequent trips of a week or less and are looking for ways to organize and compress your luggage, do not hesitate to purchase this six-piece set from Tripped Travel Gear.
