What’s Special About this Resort
Hotel Renew is an affordable, gorgeous, boutique hotel in Honolulu. It is a beachside highrise set in the hustle and bustle of Waikiki Beach. This is a beautiful hotel in a killer location for a tenth of the price of some of the other resorts we’ve covered.
This Hotel is for people who are comfortable with, and hopefully fond of, city living. We recommend this hotel for those who want to fully experience all that the island has to offer, and maybe not for those who are looking to enjoy the luxuries of a hotel room. While Hotel Renew doesn’t have a gym, a spa, or a pool on the property, you can’t beat the location in the heart of Waikiki – and the unbeatable two minute walk to the beach.
Hotel Renew is not all-inclusive. There are special offers which can give you discounts on room rates. Amenities such as beach gear and in-room fitness equipment is provided as part of your hotel amenity fee.
What To Do
As we mentioned earlier, Hotel Renew doesn’t have a gym, a pool, or a spa, so there’s not much to do on the property itself. However, your hotel room serves as the perfect home-base for any shopping, dining, or adventures you’ll find close by.
The hotel is a block away from Waikiki Beach, making it a great option for those looking to spend their stay close to the water. Hotel Renew offers complimentary beach gear like chairs, towels, boogie boards, and even snorkeling gear so you don’t have to break the bank on rentals.
Hotel Renew is within walking distance of several shopping centers and street markets, making it a great place to stash your bags while you shop all day. A shopping mall with familiar stores like H&M, Lululemon, and Sephora is just a 15 minute walk away, or the street market is even closer if you’re looking for unique Hawaiian treats and gifts.
If you’re in search of something a little more active, the Diamond Head hiking trail is close by, offering spectacular views and a great workout. Hotel Renew also lends out complimentary workout gear and yoga mats if you can’t skip a workout. They also host a free yoga class at a nearby park once a week.
What To Eat and Drink
The hotel itself doesn’t have a ton of food or drink options, but the Recess Bar & Cafe on property will help to fill the gaps between outings. For breakfast, they offer a selection of coffees, cold-pressed juice, smoothies, morning cocktails, and pastries. They also have a full bar offering classic cocktails during operating hours from 6-10am and 4-9pm.
With Hotel Renew being so close to the water, there are quite a few open-air restaurants to choose from that range from casual, to kitsch, to elevated dining. The restaurant Basalt stood out thanks to its many 5 star customer reviews. Basalt serves what they call, “comfort-style” cuisine with a modern presentation. Their menu features steak, lobster bisque, and other fine-dining staples.
If you’re aiming for something a bit more casual and lively, we recommend Lulu’s Waikiki, which offers a substantial menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The open-air dining room makes for an amazing island atmosphere, and it’s only a two minute walk from Hotel Renew.
There is so much to eat and drink in the area, we had to feature just one more, DECK at Queen Kapiʻolani Hotel. While Deck does serve food all day, what caught our eye was their expansive and creative drink menu, along with their incredible view from the third story, open-air deck. No need to call an uber home, as this bar is also just a two minute walk from the hotel.
