What’s Special About This Resort
The Dayton House Resort in Myrtle Beach offers suitable and affordable accommodations for those who value location and easy access to the beach, as well as a vibrant, family-friendly vibe. This Myrtle Beach resort offers an oceanfront lazy river, ping pong table and a great big grassy lawn between the resort and the beach for playing or relaxing in the sun.
While overall we found this resort to be a great option, and while many guest reviews echo the same sentiment, there were a few noteworthy issues worth mentioning. Since this is a family resort, it may not be the best option for those looking for a quiet or romantic getaway. Additionally, the guest rooms are a bit dated and don’t appear to have been very well maintained over the years.
While these points are important to keep in mind, ultimately we found these issues to be minor – we would still highly recommend the Dayton House Resort in Myrtle Beach for your next family vacation on account of its amazing location and affordable price point. What to Do
While the Dayton House Resort may not be a shining example of luxury accommodations or have a laundry list of exciting amenities, it is still a beachfront resort smack dab in the middle of Myrtle Beach that is significantly more affordable than many of its neighbors. The first thing we recommend is utilizing the gorgeous beachfront for lounging, spending some time on your tan, or playing with your kids on the massive beachfront lawn.
When you get sick of splashing around in the ocean, you can make your way back to the resort to splash around one of the several indoor or outdoor pools, three hot tubs, the kiddie pool, or even the oceanfront lazy river if you’re feeling adventurous. Outside of the aquatic offerings, the Dayton House Resort also has a fitness center for guests who simply cannot miss leg day and a business center for that one Zoom meeting you forgot to cancel.
What to Eat & Drink
The food and beverage offerings at the Dayton House Resort are simple and limited, but they are handy for fueling your beach vacation when and where you need it.
The Rose Room
The Rose Room is open daily from 7:00 to 10:00 am, offering guests a complimentary buffet-style continental breakfast.
Yella Umbrella Poolside Bar & Grill
Yella Umbrella is your lunchtime savior when you’ve been playing all day and didn’t notice how hungry you were until it was too late. This poolside bar and grill serves a simple menu of burgers, blended frozen drinks, and other summertime favorites in a beautiful beachfront setting. Hours are seasonal.
Oceanfront Dining
Very similar to the poolside bar and grill, this seasonal oceanfront food spot is super convenient for grabbing a quick bite or refreshing drink without losing your perfect spot on the beach. Hours are seasonal.
Room Guide
The resort has clearly made efforts to update fixtures and decor, but unfortunately the rooms still feel a bit dated and could use a little more refreshing. While the rooms aren’t anything special, they still serve as an adequate retreat for your fun at the beach. All rooms at the Dayton House Resort come equipped with wifi, a clothes iron, a coffee pot, a fridge, a microwave, and a blow dryer.
North & South Buildings
Rooms in the North and South towers are also known as the resort’s efficiency rooms. When choosing your room, you have the options of high or low floor rooms, north or south building rooms, king or double queen rooms, and ocean front or angled ocean view rooms.
The rooms come equipped with an efficiency kitchen, dining table, TV, loveseat, and a private balcony with a partial ocean view. Efficiency rooms are about 400 square feet and can comfortably occupy up to 4 occupants.
Middle Building
In the Middle Building, you will find more or less standard rooms, with options of oceanfront, poolside, or side view, and king, double queen, or double queen with a Murphy bed.
All Middle Building rooms come equipped with a microwave, mini fridge, dining table, TV, bathroom with standing shower only, and a private oceanfront balcony. These rooms range from 365 to 468 square feet and can comfortably accommodate up to 6 occupants, depending on your selection.
Suites Building
The Suites Building is where the higher-end, more spacious rooms can be found, providing you with the choice of an Oceanview Suite, Oceanfront Suite, or Oceanfront King Suite. These luxury rooms come with a full kitchen and bath, a living room with a pullout bed, a dining table with chairs, a loveseat, 2 TVs, and a private balcony.
These rooms range from 468 to 500 square feet and can accommodate up to 6 occupants, depending on your room selection.
West Building Rooms
The West Building rooms are located across the street from the rest of the resort and the beachfront, with a private balcony featuring street views of Ocean Blvd. The room comes outfitted with either 1 or 2 queen beds, a mini fridge and microwave, a dining table with chairs, and a TV. These rooms are about 400 square feet and can accommodate up to 4 occupants.
Special Experiences
The Dayton House Resort doesn’t really have much to offer in terms of wild adventures or unique experiences – unless maybe doing your laundry on-site gives you a real thrill. It does however save you some money so you can spend your resources elsewhere at bars, restaurants, and activities in the area.
The location of this resort puts you in the middle of all the action, so you can enjoy all the attractions, scenic views, and vibrant nightlife that Myrtle Beach has to offer.

Thankfully, the resort is only about 5 miles from the Myrtle Beach Airport, so the cab fare shouldn’t be too crazy.
