What’s Special About This Resort

While not an all-inclusive resort, COMO Parrot Cay gets a special mention – this is undoubtedly one of the most private, exclusive, and luxurious properties in Turks and Caicos. Parrot Cay is a relatively large undeveloped cay just beside North Caicos island, a secluded spot set away from the busy Providenciales. There isn’t much on the cay besides the beautiful resort and its villas, its exceptional spa, and miles of soft-sand and aqua-water beaches.

We would have loved to see this resort offer an all-inclusive option, but even without one, its wonderful amenities still make it a top choice. Two beautiful swimming pools, one of them adults-only, complement the picture-perfect beaches that surround the rooms and villas, as do the complimentary kayaks, paddleboards, bikes, and other equipment available for guests.

What to Do

While remote and secluded, COMO Parrot Cay has no shortage of things to make your escape to the beach fun and active. Most activities are water-based, taking advantage of the endless Turks and Caicos summer.

For one, don’t miss the chance to lounge at one of the hotel’s beautiful infinity pools or under an umbrella on the empty beach. Equipment like kayaks, stand-up paddleboards, Hobie cats, and windsurfing boards are free to borrow to get out on the water. Snorkeling gear is available if you want to go under.

Further offshore, the resort is ready to arrange experiences like deep-sea fishing, scuba diving, and private boat charters. You can also explore the island’s interior with an expert guide, who will lead you through the mangrove channels on a kayak tour – you don’t want to miss this.

On land, grab one of the complimentary bicycles and explore the many country roads and trails through coconut groves. The resort also offers a farm tour for those who want to have a more in-depth experience of exploring the flora and fauna of this pristine paradise. Tennis, jogging, and other sports are available as well.

The COMO Shambhala wellness experience is world-class, and anyone who likes a good spa day on vacation should not pass this opportunity up. Asian-inspired holistic therapies are offered in a quiet corner of the island where blissfulness is easy to find.

What to Eat & Drink

Dining at COMO Parrot Cay takes advantage of the best of Turks and Caicos: the tons of sun, lovely breeze, and exceptionally fresh seafood. Two full restaurants and one beachside bar and grill are on the cay.

The main restaurant is Lotus, and serves a large international breakfast buffet at the start of each day. At lunchtime, its à-la-carte menu offers a selection of light Caribbean specialties like conch fritters and coconut ceviche, along with favorites from around the world like pasta and burgers.

For dinner, Lotus switches to an Asian-inspired à-la-carte menu that changes as the freshest and best ingredients become available. The evening is also when the other restaurant, Terrace, an upscale yet laid-back Italian-fare dining room, opens up.

Alternatively, you can enjoy light Caribbean bites, delicious cocktails, and relaxing music at COMO Beach Club, an all-day and after-dark spot on the beach that gets the island vibes just right.

Room Guide

There’s a huge range of rooms, suites, and villas at COMO Parrot Cay – to the point that it can get confusing. Essentially, they boil down to a few categories: hotel rooms and suites, beach houses and villas, and residence estates.

Hotel Rooms and Suites: These hotel accommodations are by no means basic. They are offered with garden or ocean views, and each has a very large furnished balcony. A spacious sitting area is offered in rooms, while suites add a full living room and bathroom. All are decorated with simple, luxurious furnishings of light and wood tones.

Beach Houses and Villas: These units offer a step up (or, maybe quite a few steps up) with their ideal placement on the sand, providing direct beach access and unreal views. Plus, each has a private heated infinity pool in its large outdoor space. Sizes range from one to three bedrooms with open and spacious living areas, as well as outdoor furniture to fully enjoy the Caribbean sun.

Residence Estates: These go beyond any villa, let alone any hotel room. Each is a named, privately-owned estate that the hotel is able to lease to guests. Each contains, at a minimum, several bedrooms, while most are made up of a main house with additional guest houses on the property. Massive private swimming pools and some of the island’s best views are standard with these as well. Large groups of friends or families can rent these to take their vacation to the next level.

Special Experiences

The privacy and exclusivity of staying at this resort are already special. But there are a few ways to make a stay at COMO Parrot Cay even more memorable.

The COMO Shambhala Retreat is one of them, as this spa experience is one-of-a-kind. This wellness area is located in a quiet spot overlooking the North Caicos Channel, well away from the rest of the resort. Yoga, Pilates, and a jacuzzi garden offer different ways to decompress, along with the spa’s extensive treatment menu.

More lively but equally as relaxing is the possibility of chartering a boat. The team can arrange for vessels up to 40 feet to be loaded with kayaks, paddleboards, or other toys or simply with a picnic and plenty of drinks. Let a captain guide you through the waters to the best spots around the cay while you kick back and enjoy the ride.

Explore the backwaters of the cay on a kayak on one of the resort’s guided mangrove paddles where you’ll see turtles, herons, and egrets, as well as some unbelievably clear water. Divers can go under the surface at one of Turks and Caicos’ famous reef walls that drop thousands of feet – the concierge is ready to find you a boat and gear.
