The Wetcat Turkish Beach Towel is a lightweight, baby soft, Turkish cotton towel that is as affordable as it is adorable. Ringing in at just $24, each towel comes in a striped pattern and is available in a wide selection of trendy colors.
While the Wetcat Towels are undeniably stylish, they are also pretty high functioning. They are lightweight and pack down remarkably small, taking up less space and weight than a 32oz Hydro Flask. Additionally, these towels are sand resistant and fast drying to take the hassle out of your relaxing beach day.
The Wetcat towels are super thin, almost sheet-like, but still have a luxurious feel to them. They are great for the beach or hot yoga, but you could also use them as a scarf, a baby blanket, or a super light throw blanket. They’re a bit too thin to be as absorbent as some of the other picks on our list, but for the price we think the Wetcat Turkish Beach Towels perform quite well. Let’s Dive In!

First Impressions
The thinness of the material first caught our attention when we unboxed the Wetcat Turkish Beach Towel. The material felt strangely high quality for something so thin, which might have had to do with the unbelievable softness of the towel. It is reminiscent of a baby blanket, and the Wetcat company really plays up this cutesy factor with cats all over the packaging, and feline puns scattered about all their marketing.
This towel reminded us quite a bit of the Feshka Turkish Beach Towel – it looked and felt like the diet version. Slightly thinner, quite a bit softer and substantially lighter. We knew this would be a great towel for hot yoga, but were excited to put this product to the test and really see what it could do performance-wise.
Material
The Wetcat Turkish Beach Towel is made with 100% organic Turkish cotton. The fabric is beyond soft and extremely lightweight, especially considering the large surface area of the towel. The fabric is significantly thinner than most terrycloth towels, and perhaps the thinnest, lightest towel on our list. It packs down quite a bit smaller than a 32oz Hydro Flask, and only weighs about 7 oz.
This towel feels like a baby blanket, and could probably be used as one in a pinch. The material is extremely soft, but it also feels relatively durable. It is very similar to the woven blanket feeling of the Feshka Turkish towel, just quite a bit thinner.
While you may not expect it when feeling the fabric in your hands, Turkish towels are also incredibly absorbent. The long cotton fibers soak up water like a sponge, and they actually become more absorbent with use, as the fibers begin to open up.
Size & Weight
The size and weight of the Wetcat Turkish Beach Towels are perhaps their biggest selling point. These towels are pretty large, measuring 38” x 71”, but they only weigh a mere 7.2oz, making these one of the largest and lightest towels on our list. As you can imagine, these towels are quite thin, taking up roughly the same amount of space between your fingers as a heavy duty paper towel. The whole towel folds down smaller than a 32oz Hydro flask, making this a convenient item to toss in your beach bag or keep in your car for whatever adventures await.
Performance
These towels are made from the typically absorbent Turkish Cotton, but unfortunately we didn’t find these entirely sufficient to dry off after the beach or pool. While the fibers are absorbent, and will get more absorbent with use, the towels are so thin that they quickly absorb what little water they can and max out fast. The Wetcat Towels only weigh about 7oz, so even if it can absorb twice its weight in moisture, it doesn’t quite do the trick for fully drying us off.
While the thin fabric isn’t great for absorption, it’s phenomenal for quick drying. This makes the Wetcat Towels fairly odor resistant since mildew and bacteria don’t have a ton of time to make a home. These towels are also quite sand resistant thanks to the short pile, keeping sand on the beach and out of your car.
We wouldn’t necessarily recommend these towels for rigorous use under most circumstances, but we do think they make excellent yoga towels. The thin material doesn’t interfere with your ground feel or your balance, but the turkish cotton does an excellent job of soaking up sweat and keeping your mat nice and grippy during your practice.
Value
This towel comes at a good price, especially when considering its size. Similar in price to the Bay Laurel Turkish Beach Towel, the Wetcat beach towel offers a decent product that’s a far more affordable alternative to the popular Sand Cloud towels, or even some of the others on our list like the Feshka Turkish Beach Towel. While the Wetcat towels may not perform as well as some others on our list, we think their size, softness, quick drying and sand resistance makes them well worth the price.
The Verdict
The Wetcat Turkish Beach Towels are an excellent product if you are looking for something lightweight, quick drying and minimal for a day at the beach or pool. We wouldn’t recommend them for more active use like camping or backpacking, but these towels are great for soft use, yoga, or throwing over your couch to add a pop of color.

Frequently asked questions
Turkish towels and beach towels both bring something great to the table, so it’s hard to say one is better than the other. Turkish towels are typically thinner, lighter weight and less fluffy, making them ideal for travel and good for the beach. Turkish towels also are inherently fast drying and typically sand resistant, making them an appealing choice for the beach. Beach towels have a thicker pile, making them fluffier and more ideal if you’re looking for a more substantial barrier between you and the sand, but collect a lot of sand and moisture in their nooks and crannies. They offer a bit more plush comfort in exchange for a bit more hassle.
Turkish towels are ideal for the beach because of their sand resistance, characteristically large size and lightweight convenience. These offer some convenience factors that you just don’t get from your standard beach towel. The Wetcat Turkish Beach towel and the Feshka Turkish Beach Towel are some of our favorite Turkish towels this year.
Turkish towels bring a different kind of luxury to the table than the typical terry cloth bath towel. They are made from 100% cotton, and woven in a flat style instead of with fluffy pile. This makes them highly absorbent, fast drying, sand resistant and packable for travel. They are particularly suitable for yoga as well, thanks to their high absorbency and super thin design. Turkish towels are also typically large by design, making them a go-to option for setting up camp at the beach or a picnic in the park.
