Kane Can Kick It
The Kane Revive Water Shoes are reminiscent of Crocs or the Merrell Hydro Mocs, but with a bit more of an athletic, running shoe design. These shoes are a lightweight foam material that are as durable as they are comfortable – they’re perfect to slip in your gym bag or beach bag to use for just about anything.
It’s worth noting, these shoes run a bit large and only come in full sizes, so if you are between sizes we highly recommend sizing down.
Kane Footwear is also taking strides towards a lower environmental impact. Kane Footwear is a Certified B Corp and a member of 1% For the Planet, meaning 1% of their gross sales are committed directly to environmental non-profits. Additionally, Kane runs their own recycling program with credit incentives to keep their shoes out of landfills. Gold star for Kane!

Comfort
These shoes are unbelievably lightweight and comfortable. The sugar kane EVA foam provides a perfect balance of support and comfort, giving you a nice, secure fit. The Kanes have great arch support, a secure heel, and a large toe box for optimal comfort and foot health.
For comfort, it would be nice if they offered half sizes. These shoes already run quite large, so having to size up creates a bit of an issue with both comfort and performance. When these shoes fit properly, they keep heels secure and stay put for all sorts of activities, but when they’re a bit too big, they slide around and create an uncomfortable and potentially unsafe experience. If we could ensure a perfect fit every time, these would have a perfect comfort score.
Use
The Kane Revives are fairly versatile, we recommend them for almost all water sports. These are ideal for kayaking, boating, jet skiing, light trail running and more. These are a decent option for the river or the beach – while the ventilation holes are quite large and could let in sand and other debris, the outer soles are tall enough that it won’t be as much of an issue as, say, the Merrell Hydro Mocs.
The foam material is decently grippy, though we would caution against using these on extra slippery surfaces – we found these water shoes to be a bit dicey on wet, mossy rocks and slick mud. The Kanes offer good traction for gripping a paddle board or keeping steady on a boat, but for extra slick terrain we’d recommend a pair of water shoes with some lugs, like the KEEN Newport H2s.
So long as the ground isn’t too slippery, we think these are a great option for wading in and out of water. The Kanes are water resistant, so drying is nearly instantaneous. The ventilation holes in the upper aren’t optimally located for drainage, but we found it was easy enough to expel any pooling water with a kick or two.
These shoes are super convenient options for the gym, the yoga studio, wearing around the house or even out and about. These water shoes are also one of the rare, decent looking options that won’t get you too many weird looks at the grocery store.
Material
The Kane Revive Water Shoes are made from their trademarked “Restore Foam,” which is produced using eco-friendly sugar kane. The foam is really soft to the touch and provides a generous cushion for your feet, very similar to the Merrell Hydro Mocs we covered. The material is super lightweight and gives you a nice little bounce to help you keep a pep in your step.
Value
The Kane Revive Water Shoes are a great product, but the price is a bit high for us. These high quality, stylish, shoes are comparable to Crocs or Merrell Hydro Mocs, which are both a fraction of the price, so it’s difficult to justify the $75 price point.
That being said, while there are more affordable options available, if you have your heart set on this design, these shoes are still a sound way to spend your money. The quality speaks for itself – these shoes are made to last, so you won’t have to replace them any time soon.
Yes, You Kane
The Kane Revive Water Shoes are unquestionably one of our favorites on this year’s best list for quite a few reasons. These shoes are comfortable, eco-friendly, durable, functional, lightweight and really not too bad looking. They check just about every box, though not handling slippery surfaces well, may make them hard to use as a water shoe. But we’re happy to have them as a sweet new addition to our wardrobe and gym bag.
