A Strong Competitor

Of the Turkish Towels we’ve tried this year, the Delilah Organic Cotton Beach Towels are by far the thickest and feel the most substantial. With this extra durability comes a little extra bulk and weight, but still nothing compared to a standard beach or bath towel – we would still consider these towels to be very travel friendly.

Style-wise, these towels come in 4 different striped color ways, all muted, modern tones. We would be just as likely to use these as a throw blanket around the house as we would a towel on the beach. We appreciated the slight variation in tassels from the other Turkish towels to a more fringe look on the ends. From the fabric to the stitching, everything looks and feels really solid and durable.

Material

The Delilah Organic Cotton Beach Towel is made with 100% organic Turkish cotton, which is skin and planet friendly. Organic cotton doesn’t use the allergenic, carcinogenic, or toxic chemicals in their production processes that are common practice for normal cotton. Organic cotton is a perfectly safe, worry-free material to use for people with allergies, sensitive skin, or respiratory problems.

The fabric is still significantly thinner than most terrycloth towels, but has a little more presence and structure than the typical Turkish towel. The top of the towels have a bit of a canvas feel to them, while the bottom appears to have almost a terry cloth design, covered with little loops. It packs down slightly larger than a 32oz Hydro Flask, but still smaller than traditional beach towels.

The top fabric isn’t particularly soft, and feels almost like canvas, or even a thin, woven blanket. While we think it will soften up a bit with washing, this thicker, coarser material actually makes it pretty versatile. Much like the Feshka Turkish Beach towel, the Delilah Towel can easily transition from a handy piece of gear in your beach bag, to a stylish throw blanket for your couch. You can use it as a yoga towel, a travel blanket, a beach towel and more.

As is characteristic of Turkish beach towels, the delilah towels are incredibly absorbent. The long Turkish cotton fibers are highly absorbent, and actually become more absorbent with use. The more you use it and wash it, the fibers will open up more and more.

Size & Weight

The Delilah Organic Cotton Beach Towels are the thickest and most substantial Turkish cotton towel on our list, but we still think they are pretty travel friendly. These towels are still far thinner and lighter than their terry cloth counterparts, so we aren’t worried about a little extra bulk.

The Delilah Towels measure 36” x 70” and weigh in at about 1.5 lbs. This is quite a bit heavier than the other Turkish cotton towels on our list, but the extra weight is worth the durability you get in return. These towels are sturdy as can be, and almost have a strong, canvas feel to them.

Performance

It feels like we can’t say enough good things about these towels, as they are as high performing as they are high quality and ethically made. Their absorbency is phenomenal, likely thanks to the overall thickness and lengthier pile on the bottom of the towel.

The Delilah Organic Cotton Beach Towels hold more water than the Wetcat or the Bay Laurel Turkish towels, so naturally they don’t dry as fast. While these Turkish towels have a bit longer pile than usual, they still remain very quick drying when compared to bath towels or terry cloth beach towels. This quick drying quality makes them fairly odor resistant so long as you allow them enough time to air out.

Value

This is a high quality, high-performing beach towel that is as cute as it is functional. At full price they are pretty expensive, retailing at about $80, but they are currently on sale at their website and on Amazon for just $40. Even on sale, these are priced a bit higher than some of the other Turkish cotton towels we’ve seen, but the tangible quality of the construction and fabric make it well worth the investment. These towels will last wash after wash, summer after summer.

Delilah Won Us Over

Delilah has spoken of their integrity and heart, and it really shines through in this product. While the Delilah Organic Cotton Beach Towels are a bit heavier than the other Turkish towels we’ve tested, we ultimately found them to be more absorbent, more durable, higher quality and a far more versatile product in general than many other options on our list. We found that the durability and performance of these towels was well worth a little extra weight and bulk. We highly recommend these for the beach, the pool, the yoga studio, and wherever else your adventures might take you next.
