Where to buy Decomen Microfiber:
decomen-microfiber-product

While Decomen has gained some attention for their microfiber beach towels, it is important to take a closer look at their performance and functionality. While these towels are praised for their vibrant designs and patterns and their lightweight portability, in terms of quality we were unfortunately quite underwhelmed.

The microfiber fabric is noticeably soft, but the construction and seams of the towel were unraveling straight out of the package before a single use. Many customer reviews share similar stories and complaints of the cheap construction and short product lifespan. In terms of absorbency, some users find them effective in quickly drying off after a swim, but users report that the towels retain moisture a bit too well, lengthening drying times substantially.

While there are some glaring issues with this product, we love the affordable price point, and hope to find its strong points to give you the fullest picture to make an informed decision before your next beach adventure. Let’s Dive In!

Yep – That’s A Beach Towel, Alright

First thing out of the box we noticed the Decomen Microfiber Towel’s super soft and fairly thin material. We also found this towel to be quite large, measuring 6 ft in length and providing more than enough space for lounging or even for covering the average yoga mat for your next Bikram class.

We also quickly noticed that some of the seams were fraying straight out of the package, which was a bit disappointing and raised concerns about this towel’s long-term durability. We were also slightly disappointed to find that the towel’s design is only printed on one side, leaving the other side white and blank. While this obviously doesn’t affect its functionality, it certainly cheapens the look of it a bit, and we much prefer the visually consistent appearance of some of the 2-sided towels on our list.

Ultimately the Decomen Microfiber Beach Towels are a pretty standard, run of the mill product, not unlike the AmazonBasics Cabana Stripe Towels. There are no frills or surprises, just a cotton beach towel – exactly what you’d expect.

Material

The microfiber material is much fluffier than that of the Eccosophy Towels, making them a bit more plush, but a little less functional all around – especially for the beach. Usually microfiber beach towels are crafted fine fibers that create a smooth surface that resists sand sticking, allowing for easy removal. However, the pile on the Decomen towel is substantial enough that the surface is rough enough to trap in sand, dry grass and other annoying debris.

The durability of DECOMEN Microfiber Beach Towels is also a point of concern for us and others, with many reviews of fraying edges and unraveling stitching after minimal use. These towels are not constructed for long-term resilience and durability, and barely make it out of the box – we can only imagine what regular beach use and the washing machine will do to these towels.

Size & Weight

The Decomen Microfiber Beach Towel is perhaps the largest on our list, measuring 72” x 35.5”. While it’s pretty lightweight at around 1.2 lbs, it’s quite a bit bulkier than some of the Turkish Cotton towels we’ve tried, or even the slightly more comparable Eccosphy towel. This towel is big enough to cover an entire yoga mat, host a picnic for two, or sprawl out for a catnap on the beach.

Performance

The performance of the DECOMEN Microfiber Beach Towel is a bit of a mixed bag, but generally left us wanting a bit more out of this towel. On the positive side, these towels excel in absorbency, efficiently soaking up water from the body after a swim. They wick away moisture very quickly and effectively, but unfortunately they hang on to that moisture a bit too long. The towel retains moisture better than most other towels on our list, making drying times quite long and rendering it less convenient and odor resistant than its competitors.

Additionally, this towel is unlikely to last the summer. The Decomen Microfiber towels are far from durable, barely making it out of the box before threads begin unraveling. These towels are not nearly as resilient as the comparable Eccosophy Microfiber Towels, so it may be worth investing a little more to get a longer lasting beach companion.

Value

Ringing in at just $15 on Amazon, the DECOMEN Microfiber Beach Towel offers decent overall value. Its soft material, large surface area, and thin, lightweight design make it a practical and comfortable choice for beachgoers. While the fraying seams straight out of the package and the one-sided design may raise some concerns, the towel still delivers general functionality and convenience at an affordable price. Considering its absorbency and portability, the DECOMEN Microfiber Beach Towel can be a worthwhile investment for those seeking an affordable option.

Keep Shopping

Though despite the fraying seams and bare-minimum design, we can still appreciate the softness, large surface area, and thin, lightweight nature of the DECOMEN Microfiber Beach Towel – and tried to keep in mind that it is a $15 towel, afterall. While these towels are super affordable and would be perfectly fine in a pinch, we simply cannot recommend these towels based on the cheap construction and tangibly poor quality when there are so many other better options available.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Are microfiber towels good for beach towels?

While microfiber towels may have some differences compared to traditional cotton towels, they offer unique advantages that make them well-suited for your beach bag, especially their sand resistance. The compact, small fibers form a tightly woven surface that effectively repels sand particles, ensuring they cannot stick or become embedded in the fabric. This in tandem with their absorbency, quick drying, compactness, durability, and versatility make them an easy addition to your next beach vacation.

Does sand stick to microfiber?

Microfiber towels are generally designed to resist sand more effectively than other types of materials. The fine fibers of microfiber create a smooth surface that doesn’t provide as much friction for sand particles to adhere to, meaning that sand is less likely to cling to microfiber towels like the Decomen or Eccosophy beach towels. It’s still possible for some sand to stick to microfiber towels, especially when they are wet or damp. However, a gentle shake or brushing motion is usually sufficient to remove most of the sand from the surface.

What is the best towel material for the beach?

While to some degree this is a matter of personal preference, most people would say cotton is the best fabric for the beach. Cotton towels, like Feshka Turkish Towels or the AmazonBasics towels, provide absorbency, softness, breathability, ease of maintenance, and versatility. Cotton towels with a thin pile are even better for the beach because of their shorter drying times and sand resistant qualities. Overall, cotton is a versatile material that is a happy marriage of comfort and function.
