What’s Special About This Resort
The Westin Reserva Conchal is one of the most popular all-inclusive resorts in Costa Rica, thanks to its luxurious, relaxing atmosphere in the middle of adventures and fun. The property occupies a very large area in a prime spot just 30 minutes from the surf town of Tamarindo.
From the calm, golden-sand shores of Playa Conchal, visitors can snorkel, surf, search for shells, or just enjoy the view. Hiking trails with panoramic vistas and waterfalls can be found in the rainforests on land.
Whatever balance you choose, there’s a large lagoon-style pool, more than 10 restaurants, golf, and wellness back at the resort – some guests choose not to leave any of this at all.
All stays at the Westin Reserva Conchal are all-inclusive, and guests have three meals, drinks, alcohol, and snacks included in their room rate. The kid’s club, non-motorized water sports, tennis, and nightly entertainment are some other benefits.

➞ What to Do
The Westin Reserva Conchal is right for many different types of travelers: relaxers, beach people, adventurers, and anything in between. One of the most difficult decisions of your trip will be how much to get out and do things and how much to sit back and indulge!
Playa Conchal is steps from your room and offers soft sand and calm shores. Paddleboarding, surfing, and jet skiing are popular surface activities, while a nearby marine preserve creates ideal conditions for snorkeling and diving. Sea turtles are known to nest at a nearby beach.
Nearby national parks, such as Rincón de la Vieja and Palo Verde, are within a day tour’s reach and can be arranged by the resort. Hiking to waterfalls, hot springs, and unbelievable views are top attractions in the jungle, along with seeing exotic wildlife and local communities.
After all of this, there’s a gigantic lagoon-style swimming pool with plenty of loungers and cabanas. If you stay in the Club Westin part of the resort, an additional adults-only swimming pool is available. Kids have access to all kinds of activities at the club, while the whole family can enjoy daily and nightly entertainment.
➞ What to Eat & Drink
With more than 10 unique restaurants and even more bars, there’s tons of variety on the menu at the Westin Reserva Conchal. All are included with your all-inclusive stay, but know that dinner reservations are required, and it’s usually best to make them before your arrival.
Breakfast is served at the main restaurant, Mitra Market, in an international buffet style. This buffet restaurant remains open for both lunch and dinner and offers different cuisine stations. Other lunch options include El Ranchito, a barbecue grill, and Caracola, a traditional Costa Rican and American restaurant.
Spirula Trattoria, a casual pasta and pizza restaurant, serves both lunch and dinner. Faisanella is another midday and evening option for international dishes in a more upscale atmosphere. Specialty dinner-only restaurants include Manglar, a relaxed seafood eatery; Bamboo, with an Asian-fusion menu; and La Sabana, a gourmet steakhouse.
A number of more casual bars and grills are available around the property, and there are even more options if you’re willing to walk over to the W Costa Rica next door. Room service is also available around the clock without a charge.
➞ Room Guide
The Westin Reserva Conchal has over 400 rooms and a separate adults-only section, so it’s important you choose the right accommodation. Families will be pleased to have larger living spaces, while Westin Club guests have a separate club lounge and pool.
Deluxe, Premium, and Family Junior Suites: The entry-level category for non-Westin Club guests are these 538-square-foot junior suites, with separate bedrooms and living areas. They can be equipped with one king bed, two double beds, or one king bed with bunk beds. Premium rooms were recently renovated and are closest to the pool; Family Junior Suite guests get access to an exclusive family club lounge just for this category.
Master Family Suite: Groups that need even more space can go with this two-bedroom suite with separate living and dining rooms. This room gets private check-in and check-out, as well as access to the Family Club Lounge.
Club Westin: Couples and non-family groups should strongly consider a room in this section of the resort. Standard rooms come with one king bed or two doubles, while one-bedroom suites double the living space. All rooms have balconies with outdoor soaking tubs and get access to a specific club lounge, as well as the adults-only pool.
➞ Special Experiences
There are all kinds of ways to make your Costa Rica trip special at the Westin Reserva Conchal. Before arriving, ask for a copy of the week’s activity calendar to plan for things like morning yoga, resort-led bike tours, and nightly shows in the theater.
It should go without saying that a day at the Westin Heavenly Spa is an exceptional idea for a vacation here. Packages to enjoy golf on the award-winning course are available, as are both private and group lessons for beginners. If you’re looking for a romantic adventure without getting too busy, consider a horseback ride on the beach.
