What’s Special About This Resort
Couples in search of a quiet, romantic Belize resort without the high price or isolation of a private island will find it at Victoria House Resort & Spa. This boutique resort sits on the southern outskirts of San Pedro, giving it access to all the convenience and wonders of Ambergris Caye but not the hustle and bustle of the downtown area.
Each of the 42 colonial-style rooms, casitas, and villas is luxuriously appointed and offers lots of privacy to celebrate your honeymoon, your anniversary, or simply your special trip. Several romance packages can guarantee additional stand-out features during your stay. Two swimming pool areas, a private beach, a spa, and plenty of add-on adventures make it easy to relax or play as much as you want over the course of your stay in paradise.

All guests get continental breakfast for free, while the most basic plan adds a daily entrée from the morning menu. You can also do breakfast + dinner or breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

➞ What to Do
Guests who want to relax at Victoria House Resort & Spa can do so on the sandy private beach or around the two pool decks, one being infinity-style. The beach here is not a natural coast, though, and you’ll have to enter the water from some stairs or jump in off the dock. Instead, it’s better to swim in the pools or hop on a boat transfer to a spot further offshore.
You can, however, enjoy kayaking straight from the resort’s shores as a complimentary activity, while stand-up paddleboards can be rented. Bikes are free to use for cruising the coast or popping into San Pedro for a visit. If you’d rather not be so active, the on-site spa is a place to indulge even more, with over three dozen treatments available.
It’s easy to get off the caye to see some of Belize’s most prized wonders. The Fantasea Dive Shop, located on the dock, organizes one and two-tank dives every day to local sites like Hol Chan and Shark Ray Alley. Certifications and refresher courses are available to new or rusty divers who want to see these mesmerizing places.
One of the most awesome land activities is cave tubing on the Belize mainland. You’ll float past stalagmites and stalactites along an enclosed river with a guide, enjoying a natural wonder that very few of your friends will ever get to experience. Cave tubing can be combined with other mainland adventures to fill the full-day trip, with options like the Belize Zoo, ziplining, or visiting the Xunantunich Mayan Ruins.
➞ What to Eat & Drink
Victoria House Resort & Spa has three restaurants and bars to choose from. Palmilla Restaurant is the main choice, and the adjacent Poolside Patio is essentially an extension of it. This is where you can find a daily continental buffet breakfast with à la carte add-ons.
Palmilla Restaurant and the Poolside Patio serve lunch, dinner, and drinks all day, with frequently changing menus based on the catches of the day and the finest locally sourced ingredients. You can expect locally inspired dishes like conch ceviche, grilled lobster, or beef tenderloin.
The alternative option for lunch and dinner is Admiral Nelson’s Beach Bar. This casual Belizean-style bar under a palapa offers Caribbean-style cocktails and light dishes on the beach. Lastly, if you want to get out and try something else, there’s plenty of local dining in San Pedro just a few minutes away.
➞ Room Guide
There are quite a few accommodation options at Victoria House Resort & Spa, but just 42 units in total. Each feels private, intimate, and authentic to local heritage. Guests can choose between smaller standard rooms, spacious suites, individual casitas, or large villas, along with views of either the gardens or the sea.
Staterooms & Palmetto Rooms: Staterooms are in a historic building above the restaurant, offering garden views from smaller rooms with queen-sized beds. Palmetto Rooms are an upgrade that faces the beach and offers more space, with a king-sized bed and a balcony or veranda.
Suites: There is a diverse range of suites, most of which offer ocean views. They feature upgrades such as four-poster king beds and large verandas, and some include gourmet kitchens. Two-bedroom Infinity Suites are available for groups of up to four guests.
Casitas: There are seven individual thatched-roof casitas on the beachfront, which are one of the top choices for couples on romantic getaways who want a special place to stay. The ocean-view veranda has a hammock and seating, while the interior features hand-crafted mahogany furniture.
Villas: The most opulent upgrades in the resort are the handful of standalone villas, mostly on the beach, ranging in size from two-bedroom to five-bedroom. Larger groups and families will enjoy home-like amenities, large living areas, and full kitchens, but even couples may want to splurge on one of the smaller options with private swimming pools.
➞ Special Experiences
There are all kinds of special packages available at Victoria House Resort & Spa to guarantee an exceptional stay at the time of booking. Couples on a celebration trip may want to check out options like the Reef Romance Package, which will get you not only the full meal plan but also a private candlelit dinner, a couples massage, a snorkel trip, and even more. There are many more packages like this that are suitable for couples, friends, and other types of travelers.
We’ve already talked about diving and snorkeling around some of Belize’s most beautiful underwater treasures, but Victoria House can help you arrange something to top those. Jump on an aerial tour, whether as part of a group or in private, to see scenery like the Blue Hole from above in a helicopter or airplane. The only thing that may beat seeing this wonder from below is seeing it from above.
