What’s Special About This Resort
The first hotel I ever stayed at in France was The Westin Paris Vendôme, which I chose for its combination of fine amenities and an ideal location.
Two blocks from the Place Vendôme, it sits directly in front of the Jardin des Tuileries, which leads directly to The Louvre, the Seine, and crossings to the Musée d’Orsay. A few extra minutes on foot brings you to the Place de la Concorde, which turns into the Champs-Élysées and then the Arc de Triomphe.
Needless to say, there will be no shortage of things to do or see around the hotel, and there are many more within walking distance or a short métro ride away. Westin’s fine hospitality and luxury combine perfectly with European elegance to create an all-around great choice for travelers, whether it’s your first or hundredth time.

-
Although historic and charming, the hotel could use better maintenance and upkeep to remain luxurious
➞ What to Do
The Westin Paris Vendôme is the perfect starting point for seeing the sights of Paris and better for active travelers who want to get out and explore. There isn’t a ton to do at the hotel itself – it has no pool, and the spa is closed. And while you can easily hop on a métro at stops like Tuileries or Concorde, I recommend walking the city if you’re able, in order to fully appreciate its magic.
Turn left at the hotel entrance to see the Colonne Vendôme, which commemorates war veterans and Napoleon. Go a few more blocks to see the ornate Palais Garnier opera house. There’s a large Galeries Lafayette department store if you want to shop like a Parisian.
If you take a right outside the hotel instead, you’ll immediately see the expansive Gardens of Tuileries, lined with trees and dotted with statues. On one end, you’ll find the glass pyramid in the center of the massive Louvre complex, which houses treasures from generations past. On the other end, there’s the Place de la Concorde, one of Paris’ biggest public squares that forms an end of the Champs-Élysées.
Cross the river, and you’ll immediately find the Musée d’Orsay, with Les Invalides and the Eiffel Tower a bit further north. These are really just the beginning, as there are so many smaller attractions, restaurants, and landmarks around the city.
➞ What to Eat & Drink
There’s just one restaurant and one bar at The Westin Paris Vendôme. The main place is Le First Restaurant, casual but elegant and serving a buffet breakfast each morning. Lunch and dinner combine Parisian brasserie favorites with international classic dishes. In the summertime, you can enjoy it all outdoors at the Summer Terrace.
The alternative for lunch, dinner, and in-between snacking is Tuileries Bar, offering a relaxing atmosphere for classic cocktails, local creations, and fine wines. Sandwiches, salads, and meat and fish dishes are also on the menu.
If you walk down Rue de Rivoli, the main street between the hotel and the Jardin de Tuileries, you’ll find quite a few brasseries and crêperies, including many with tables on the sidewalk in true Parisian fashion. Any of these are perfect for a simple coffee or simple meal, but ask the concierge if you’re looking for something more.
➞ Room Guide
With 348 guest rooms and 80 suites, The Westin Paris Vendôme is definitely one of the larger hotels on our list. The historic building has retained its traditional style but incorporated the luxuries of the Westin brand. If you plan to mainly be out and about, a basic room will be more than comfortable; on the other hand, suites will make you feel like royalty.
Superior, Deluxe, and Rooms with a View: These standard varieties can be booked with one king, one double, or two twin beds. Deluxe is slightly larger in floor space, while “Rooms with a View” look out towards the Eiffel Tower.
Junior Suites: This small upgrade may be worth it here, as they about double the space in the room, which allows a sitting area and large desk to be added. You can also book these with an upgraded view of the city.
Suites: Again, the upgrade is worth it for those who can swing it. Not only do you get a ton of extra space with the separate living room, but the ornate, classical furniture and decoration of these suites are executed exceptionally well. All suites have one king bed, except for the Presidential Suite, which has two.
➞ Special Experiences
As mentioned, you won’t find much entertainment at The Westin Paris Vendôme itself; rather, you’ll have to find special experiences off-property. Luckily, that’s not hard. For example, crossing the footbridge over the Seine right outside the hotel will bring you to an embankment where many dinner cruises and sightseeing boats depart, making for a very romantic evening for couples or a fun way for families to see the city.
You can also plan a romantic evening the same way the locals do. Buy a bottle of champagne, plus maybe a baguette, and find a spot on the edge of the riverside to sit, relax, and watch the city. Trust me, you’ll see how popular this is.
