What to Do
The Ranch at Rock Creek provides the perfect environment for a stress-free vacation and includes everything you need for whichever activity you desire. For the adventurous outdoors, there is horseback riding, fly fishing, disc golf, an on-site tree ropes course, trout fishing, sapphire mining, riding with ranchers, geocaching, fat tire biking, archery, photography workshops, mountain biking, learning how to shoot pistols and rifles, hiking, wildlife viewing, and swimming at Bikini Beach. During the winter, you can enjoy ice skating on Bikini Pond, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, downhill skiing, snowboarding, tubing, and snowmobiling, A unique activity here is that you can learn survival skills on the Montana frontier, such as making your own fire, and learn how to set a snare for small animals.
Kids (4-12 yrs) can participate in the Flint Forest Rangers Club and enjoy various activities during their stay. They can fish, learn about horse safety, have fun in the pool, have a geocaching adventure, and learn about mountain wildlife. Other amenities for you to enjoy on the ranch are swimming in the heated outdoor pool and soaking in the hot tub.
For an additional fee, you can book a float trip down Rock Creek, a horseback riding excursion to high-mountain lakes in the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest, and during the winter, ice fishing. In addition, those who want to take a break from the activities can head to the Spa at Rock Creek to get a fabulous massage, facial, or a Sapphire Hydration Wrap.
What to Eat & Drink
The Ranch showcases all Montana offers through delicious gourmet dining experiences featuring local produce and meats within their five dining venues. Breakfast options vary between getting coffee and pastries at the Granite Lodge and Blue Canteen, a hearty breakfast fare at the Buckle Barn, and the Summer Cowboy Breakfast at Piney Pond. The Summer Cowboy Breakfast experience happens on Fridays during the summer. You can enjoy cowboy coffee, and Chef Drage’s Dutch oven delights like cowboys did when working all day. Lunch is at the Buckle Barn, where you can order dishes like a Copper City Chop sandwich, Montana wagyu beef burger, a crispy eggplant sandwich, or a fresh salad.
The Granite Lodge & Patio hosts social hour and dinners. The social hour is a lovely place to relax and meet new friends while munching on hors d’oeuvres and sipping cocktails. Dinners are a multi-course culinary experience that changes with the seasons with exceptional wine pairings. You could be feasting on anything from pecan-smoked ribs, Montana steaks, and fresh seafood to fried chicken. A children’s menu is also available.
During the summer, the Granite Lodge Flagstone is where you can enjoy the weekly Chef’s Grill. Delicious food like grilled Montana, beef bavette, and wild salmon is made on the open-air wood fire grill. You can even enjoy making a s’more by the campfire. In addition, the Buckle Barn holds Barn Dances on Saturday nights, where you can dance under the stars while listening to live music – a true Western experience.
Room Guide
This five-star all-inclusive guest ranch has 29 distinct accommodations mixing the rustic natural surroundings with first-class luxury. You can stay in a historic barn, glamping cabins, hybrid luxury glamping tents, a multi-room luxury home, or lavish suites in the Granite Lodge. The rooms include twice-daily housekeeping services, beverages, snacks, robes, slippers, and wifi. Each accommodation is also equipped with personal mountain bikes for on-Ranch transportation.
Granite Lodge Rooms: The nine Granite Lodge rooms range from housing two to four guests and are all Western-themed with king beds and ensuite bathrooms. The Premium Granite Lodge rooms on the lower level have private access to the lodge’s courtyard.
Historic Barn: The 19th-century barn used to house the hay loft, horse stables, and tack room, but after being converted, it now houses three luxury accommodations: the Loft, Stables, and Wrangler. The three rooms can be booked separately or together to house up to 13 guests. The Loft offers a king bed and queen pull-out sofa for up to four guests. The Stables has two sets of twin bunk beds and a king bed for six guests, a full bathroom with two separate showers, and a cozy sitting area with a game table. The Wrangler features a combined bedroom with a king bed and sitting area and a twin pull-out sofa to house up to 3 guests. The shared porch is a nice place to end the evening overlooking the ranch under the night sky.
Luxury Cabins: The seven luxury cabins range from single-bed romantic escapes to two-floor log homes housing anywhere from two guests to 12. Each cabin has every amenity to ensure your comfort and space and includes ensuite bathrooms, a king bed suite, a sitting area, a kitchen, and state-of-the-art electronics. There are also little details unique to each cabin, like daybeds added for a reading nook, a hot tub, or situated right next to hiking trails. The cabins also have personal cruisers or mountain bikes for on-Ranch transportation.
Glamping Tents: There are ten glamping cabins in four styles, Homesteader Wagons, including Trapper and Sweet Grass cabins, which are open year-round. Trapper is the most secluded cabin for two guests, with in-floor hydronic heat, a king bed, and an outdoor soaking tub. The Sweet Grass cabin can house up to seven guests, with two king-bed suites, a claw-foot bathtub, and a sizeable living area. The four Classic Canvas Cabins have a king or two queen beds, a gas stove, a screened porch, and a deck facing the creek. The four Family Canvas Cabins can house up to six guests and feature two rooms separated by a curtain, with the main bedroom having a king bed. All four cabins include two gas stoves, a screened porch, a reading nook, and a private deck. The glamping wagons can be added to your accommodations for a night away from the kids or vice versa. Each wagon features a king bed and twin bunks.
