What’s Special About This Hotel
The Peery Hotel is a historic 3-star luxury hotel in downtown Salt Lake City. It is one of Utah’s earliest luxury hotels, built in 1910 for mining moguls to stay, and has been a hotel for over a hundred years.
The three-story, prairie-style brick building is an iconic symbol of times past, with guests enjoying its historic charm and modern amenities. History lovers will love staying in this 1920s-themed hotel with its vintage-inspired furniture, quirky-sized rooms, excellent restaurants, and closeness to Salt Lake City attractions.
The Peery Hotel is rumored to be haunted, making it a unique destination. Guests have reported hearing a woman moaning throughout the hallways and in the elevator of the building, and the scent of perfume sometimes lingers in the air. One of the elevators sometimes acts up, you’ll notice it moving from floor to floor with no one pushing the buttons. Some have also reported hearing the sound of children running in the hallway and seeing a man standing in doorways that disappears.

What to Do
The historic Peery Hotel amenities are few. There are two fabulous restaurants, a mini-mart for sundries, a business center, and a small 24-hour fitness center with modern cardio and weight-training equipment. The hotel has a beautiful lobby, where you can sit and relax around the fireplace and enjoy free coffee and tea.
The biggest draw for staying at the Peery Hotel is how close it is to the sights in Salt Lake City. The Peery Hotel is five miles from the Natural History Museum of Utah, an ice-skating rink, concert halls, theaters, Salt Palace Convention Center, and downtown restaurants and shops are within blocks.
It is a quick 15-minute walk to all the attractions at Temple Square and it is also close to the Clark Planetarium. Big Cottonwood Canyon is 15 miles from the hotel as well.
What to Eat & Drink
The Peery Hotel has two excellent dining options: Christopher’s Prime Tavern & Grill and Sonoma Grill & Wine Bar. Christopher’s Prime Tavern & Grill is Salt Lake City’s premier fine-dining steakhouse, where you can enjoy flavorful steaks cooked to perfection, giant shrimp scampi, other seafood dishes, and even chicken.
Sonoma Grill & Wine Bar offers classic breakfast, lunch, and dinner dishes. You can dine on locally sourced ingredients that make tasty pizzas, salads, pasta, tacos, seafood, and much more. And make sure to enjoy a glass of wine from their large selection while you eat.
Room Guide
The 73 rooms in the Peery Hotel have everything you need for a comfortable and relaxing stay. Each room has comfy Tempur-Pedic mattresses, free Wi-Fi, 42-inch HD flat-screen TVs, coffee maker, and C.O. Bigelow toiletries in the shower.
You can get accessible rooms, rooms with a single queen bed, or ones as large as a one-bedroom suite.
You can choose a single queen bed, a king, or two queen bed rooms. The rooms might seem odd with sinks in the bedrooms, and toilets stuck between the tub and sink, but that is what makes the Peery Hotel have so much character.
The Junior Suite is a bit larger than the rooms at 340 square feet with a half-canopy king bed, seating area, and work desk.
The luxurious Bedroom Suite is the largest at 400 square feet with a half-canopy king-sized bed, a separate living area with a sofa sleeper, and a separate bathroom.
