The Brando
What’s Special About This Resort
Let’s start with one of the most ridiculously luxurious retreats in the world, in one of the most unbelievably beautiful places: The Brando, a private island resort on a tiny atoll just east of Tahiti. Just a handful of one, two, and three-bedroom beach villas dot the pristine white sand here. You’ll just have to decide whether to relax beside your private pool or the calm, clear lagoon. Multiple dining experiences, spa treatments, and atoll excursions are other ways to fill your time in paradise.
When you go with the all-inclusive package at The Brando, your luxurious villa comes with all meals at any of the dining locations, with the exception of premium items that come with a surcharge; the same goes for most water and soft drinks, beer, wine, and spirits. All-inclusive goes even further here, though: one spa treatment per day, one excursion per day, beach equipment, and a bicycle per person are included as well.

The Brando
What to Do
Being on a South Pacific island, and a private one at that, you might imagine that the activities at The Brando are largely sea and beach-based. All of them are arranged by the resort, and one excursion per day is included in the all-inclusive package.
For starters, don’t hesitate to take out one of the paddle boards, kayaks, or outrigger canoes that the resort offers at your disposal. Every guest checking in will also get a bike to explore the interior of the atoll.
The Brando’s team of Polynesian island keepers offer an array of boat tours, including excursions to the barrier reef, native bird watching, and a visit to Marlon Brando’s original island residence. Cultural experiences like ukulele lessons, traditional dance shows, weaving lessons, and pareo dying and tying are also offered. For the ultra-exclusive traveler, the staff can curate a private, custom experience, too, based on whatever you are interested in, both already on offer or beyond.
The Varua Te Ora Polynesian Spa is also at the center of The Brando’s allure, and don’t forget that a 50-minute treatment per day comes with your all-inclusive stay. Traditional Tahitian massage methods and modern facial techniques are some of the offerings available, which can take place in secluded thatched-roof bungalows set in the beautiful surroundings.
Don’t hesitate to check out this blog if you’re planning your trip to French Polynesia.
What to Eat & Drink
The food and beverages at The Brando have been carefully crafted by chef Jean Imbert to be as impressive and exclusive as the rest of the island experience. Your day starts at the Beachcomber Café with an international breakfast made with fresh Polynesian specialties. The same concept is available there for lunch.
Throughout the day, Bob’s Bar is your on-the-sand spot for curated cocktails inspired by one of the very first establishments to exist on Tetiaroa. It’s also another place for lunch and all-day dining besides the Beachcomber Café, where you can have a casual bite of South Pacific fare.
You have some decisions to make at dinner – so plan for them all. Nami Teppanyaki is a place for just eight guests to connect around the grill and sushi counter while delectable rolls and Japanese delights are served up. Les Mutinés is your option for fine French cuisine complemented by the perfect bottle of wine. Of course, you’re always welcome to opt for in-villa dining, 24 hours a day.
Room Guide
The Brando offers a selection of thatched-roof beach villas built in Tahitian tradition but transformed to include modern luxuries.
One-Bedroom, Two-Bedroom, and Three-Bedroom Villas: At over 1,000, 1,800, and 2,600 square feet, respectively (96, 168, and 246 square meters), these villas blend the beautiful natural surroundings subtly with high-end indoor-outdoor design. A sitting room furnished with sofas and chairs opens up to a spacious terrace with your own pool. Plus, an outdoor bathtub completes the space.
Residence Teremoana: This is a full, beachfront residence constructed in the Polynesian style that sleeps up to six. The whole family or a small group of friends should find plenty of space in its 6,000 square feet (558 square meters) of space spread among three bedrooms, each with its own bathroom. There are multiple dining and entertainment areas; moreover, guests are welcome to modify its layout to their own liking.
Special Experiences
There are few parts of a trip to Tetiaroa that aren’t special experiences – but The Brando finds a way to take it to the next level every time.
August thru October offers the possibility of whale watching, during which your guide will attempt to get you as close as safely and ethically possible for a snorkel session with giant humpbacks. Deep sea fishing and surreal scuba diving are other carefully curated experiences that are unlike anywhere else.
The staff offers a Green Tour to show you how the resort is working behind the scenes to preserve the natural beauty that sustains it, attempting to offset its environmental impact to the maximum. A one-of-a-kind deep seawater cooling system is used to air condition your villa, one of the points of pride on this tour.
Resort staff are willing to go far above and beyond to make your stay special, including setting up private dining experiences around the atoll. Contact the concierge to arrange a table on your own spit of sand for barefoot dining on world-class food in front of a spectacular sunset.
