What’s Special About This Resort
Whether it’s your first trip to Paris or not, seeing the majestic Eiffel Tower is a thrill – and the best place to stay for that million-dollar view is Shangri-La Paris. It sits just across the river from the monument, putting most of its 100 rooms in direct sight of the water and the tower.
It’s not just the view, though. This building was the former home of Prince Roland Bonaparte, and it has the distinction of being both a Palace and a Historic Monument. The signature Asian hospitality of Shangri-La combined with elegance, Michelin-star dining, a world-class spa, and a great location make this a special hotel whether you care about the views or not.

➞ What to Do
To state the obvious, cross the bridge and visit the Eiffel Tower during your stay at Shangri-La Paris – you’re just across the street, after all!
You may be able to skip the hustle and bustle of the Trocadéro Gardens, where most tourists go to catch the best views, thanks to your room’s orientation. But you can still have the thrilling experience of taking the elevators up the structure, seeing the city from above, and dining in the sky (note: there are mixed feelings about the Eiffel Tower restaurants).
Art lovers will enjoy being practically next door to the Paris Museum of Modern Art, the Palais de Tokyo, and the Guimet Museum of Asian Arts. Right across the footbridge is the Musée du Quai Branly, which has tribal and indigenous art and exhibits.
Retreat to Chi, The Spa before or after your sightseeing for some peace, quiet, and relaxation. You can also enjoy a 17-meter indoor pool that opens up to a green terrace tucked away from the rest of the city.
➞ What to Eat & Drink
There are just two restaurants and two lounge-bars at Shangri-La Paris, but they are of exceptional quality. La Bauhinia is the main restaurant that sits under a beautiful glass dome, filling the dining room with natural light for the buffet breakfast. Lunch and dinner focus on the best of seafood, and there’s an afternoon tea time in between.
Shang Palace is France’s only Michelin-starred Chinese restaurant. Open for lunch and dinner, there are both à-la-carte and tasting menu options inspired by Southeast Chinese cuisine paired wonderfully with French wines.
Light meals and snacks are also served at Les Lounges and Bar Botaniste, the hotel’s lounge bars. The former is open from early afternoon to early evening, while the latter is open from dinner time to late night.
➞ Room Guide
There are just 100 rooms and suites at Shangri-La Paris, making this an exclusive place to stay in the city. It’s important to note that not all room categories offer the Eiffel Tower views that we’ve emphasized. However, the ones that do are named appropriately, so keep this in mind if the view is important to you.
Superior, Deluxe, and Terrace Rooms: These entry-level guest rooms have views of the gardens or surrounding streets, and the latter has outdoor space on a terrace. Furnishings and decorations are simple but calming, inspired by Asian roots combined with European elegance.
Eiffel View and Paris Panoramic: If the view is important to you, this is where you should start. The tower can be seen from your French windows or your terrace, depending on the version you choose. Paris Panoramic rooms are in corners with wraparound views and a private terrace.
Junior Suites: These are only a slight step up from standard, with minimal extra space but potentially better locations. Some have Eiffel Tower views and some do not, so note the name of the category when booking.
Suites: You can go with a standard one-bedroom suite for extra space, a Duplex Suite for more separation, or a Terrace Suite for outdoor space – some have Eiffel Tower views, others do not, and they are named as such. Specialty suites go about a hundred times above and beyond and will remind you that you’re staying in a palace belonging to royalty.
➞ Special Experiences
While anyone can see it, guests in premium-view rooms at Shangri-La Paris have a very special opportunity to see the Eiffel Tower sparkle at night. Every hour, starting at dusk, for five minutes, lights all over the tower illuminate in a sparkly spectacle. It’s amazing to see for anyone, but couples in their room can order dinner, some champagne, and/or dessert to enjoy the night.
Right across the river, there’s a different kind of museum that’s not particularly attractive by name – the Paris Sewer Museum. In fact, it’s fascinating to go under the city, and it’s an off-the-beaten-path experience that even many locals haven’t tried. It’s a fun thing to do for both families and adults in Paris.
