What to Do

Sandals Emerald Bay guests can enjoy just about any activity offered by the resort totally free of charge. However, many couples can’t bring themselves to leave the beautiful pool and beach area. The white-sand shore here is one of the best in the Bahamas, and the sparkling swimming pools are a quiet, tranquil oasis.

Divers will definitely want to take advantage of up to two dives per day at no cost, ranging from 20 to 100 feet in depth and visiting reefs and wrecks. Non-divers can snorkel directly from the beach. Water toys like kayaks, windsurfing boards, stand-up paddle boards, and sailboats can be taken out all day as well.

The 18-hole Emerald Bay Golf Course is directly beside the azure water and is also included for resort guests. Other land sports include volleyball, horseshoes, tennis, bocce ball, and more.

Many local adventure tours are available for booking as well. Swim with the dolphins, ATV on secluded beaches, swim with the Bahamas’ swimming pigs, and do much more around the ultimate natural playground that is the Exumas. Or, do the opposite at the Red Lane Spa, where you can kick back and enjoy a day of pampering.

What to Eat & Drink

With 11 restaurants and bars, there’s a ton of variety at Sandals Emerald Bay’s dining outlets. Guests have two options for breakfast: an international buffet at Bahama Bay or à-la-carte classics at Il Cielo.

Bahama Bay is also open for Bahamian and Caribbean lunch, with a promise to have you back on the beach in 30 minutes or less. The Jerk Shack is another island-style casual option, serving Caribbean jerk dishes out by the beach. There’s also Dino’s Pizzeria Italiana and Barefoot by the Sea, the latter specializing in seafood.

Barefoot by the Sea is also a dinner option, while the pizzeria is not. However, you can still get your Italian fix at Il Cielo, which re-opens in the evenings for Tuscan specialties in an elegant atmosphere. La Parisienne is another fine dining option with French cuisine.

Less formal is the Drunken Duck, a true British pub open until late at night. Other dinner specialty restaurants include Bombay Club, an Indian kitchen; Soy Sushi Bar, with Far East and sushi creations; and Kimono’s, a Japanese teppanyaki grill.

Room Guide

There are over 20 different room categories at Sandals Emerald Bay, each differing in view, size, and location. All of them include luxurious furnishings and decor and a mini bar, while some include butler service.

Beach House Luxury & Grande Luxe: The smallest rooms in the resort are still luxuriously appointed with things like stone floors and furnished balconies. Views include Pool, Tropical Garden, and Ocean, and Walkout varieties provide ground-floor access to the beautiful outdoors.

Beach House Junior Suites & Beachfront Junior Villa Suites: These don’t differ all that much from standard rooms, with a small bit of extra room. Junior Villa Suites, however, come with butler service and locations closest to the sand, so look towards those varieties if you are wanting a small upgrade.

Beach House Butler Suites & Beachfront Butler Villa Suites: Full suites continue to add a little bit of space, with full sofas in their own small sitting area. However, they aren’t one-bedroom spaces that guests may be expecting. Look towards the Oversized variety, which adds a considerably larger sitting area in front of the bed, if you want a truly upgraded room.

Specialty Suites: These two room types are the true suite experience. The Prime Minister Honeymoon Suite is a large villa-style one-bedroom suite with walk-out access to the beach and a private patio on it. The Royal Estate Suite is a sprawling two-story beachfront escape with its own private pool.

Special Experiences

Couples at Sandals Emerald Bay usually look to the Red Lane Spa for a special experience, where they can enjoy a couples massage in one of over a dozen treatment rooms. There are also plunge pools, steam rooms, intimate relaxation rooms, and other secluded places to self-pamper.

The nearby Marina at Emerald Bay may offer some exclusive ways to get out on the water, including private yacht charters and sunset cruises. Many of the local adventure tours outside of the resort can be made into private experiences as well for couples that want their own day of fun.

In the evening, entertainment options like karaoke, live music, talent shows, and Chocolate Buffet nights make up some very unique things not found elsewhere. If you’d rather spend the evening together and without anyone else, set up a candlelight dinner on the beach, in the gardens, or on your terrace where there are no distractions.
