Another great rustic beach experience that is much closer than the Yasawa Islands is the beautiful Robinson Crusoe Island. Located just a few miles off Mainland Fiji near the Coral Coast, Robinson Crusoe Island looks as stunning and remote as you might expect from such a name.
Another great feature of this island is it has various accommodations for those on multiple budgets. There are stand-alone villas for those looking for a bit of privacy, and there are also dorm rooms with shared bathrooms for island-hopping backpackers.
The unspoiled nature of this island, the various accommodation types, and its close proximity to mainland Fiji make Robinson Crusoe a wonderful option for those looking for a tiny island paradise experience on a limited budget, especially solo travelers.
Things we like:
-
One of the few unspoiled islands with budget-friendly accommodations
-
This island looks like the Yasawas but it’s much closer
-
Perfect for a quick day trip, but also an easy overnight trip
Things we don't like:
-
The Island has limited rooms with air conditioning and luxury services
-
While close to the mainland, ferry, and boat services are fairly limited
-
The island experiences some electric and water issues from time to time
