What’s Special About This Resort
Ponte Vedra Inn & Club has long been an exclusive getaway for those who know about this secluded piece of paradise just south of Jacksonville. In fact, part of this Florida resort’s accommodations is in a restored 1937 inn.
Nowadays, guest rooms at this AAA Five Diamond resort are modern and luxurious, and guests have access to pools, a spa, and miles of white-sand beach. And besides being a seaside escape, this is one of the top destinations in Florida for golfers – which says a lot.
Guests can play on two 18-hole courses, pars 70 and 71, set just behind the shore. There’s a practice facility, pitching and chipping green, and practice bunkers, as well as a pro shop with rentals, lessons, and clinics. When you aren’t on the links, there are plenty of ways to stay entertained or relaxed at the resort or around the greater Jacksonville area.
There aren’t any true all-inclusive rates offered at Ponte Vedra Inn & Club. However, if you’re taking our advice and coming here for golf or other sports, special packages can include your green fees, practice balls, and time on the tennis and volleyball courts. You can easily reserve a rate that includes daily breakfast as well.

➞ What to Do
One of the top reasons to visit Ponte Vedra Inn & Club is for golf. The Ocean Course is an 18-hole par-71 consisting of bunkers and expansive fairways weaving around lagoons. The 18-hole par-70 Lagoon Course is similar, with narrow fairways, small and fast greens, and lots of water that put emphasis on accurate drives.
Both of these courses are some of the most sought-after in the region, although you can easily find many more places to play nearby, as you’re in one of the golf capitals of the world here.
Tennis players can also enjoy The Racquet Club at Ponte Vedra Inn & Club, with 15 Har-Tru hydro courts tucked between the fairway and the sea. Volleyball, croquet, and bocce ball are other sports to enjoy.
Relaxation facilities include a long, sandy beach with loungers and umbrellas separated by plenty of space. Kayaks, paddleboards, and surfboards are available for taking. Multiple swimming pools allow plenty of space for everyone to cool off, including kid-friendly spots with waterslides and adults-only pools at The Lodge.
➞ What to Eat & Drink
Ponte Vedra Inn & Club offers more than a dozen restaurant, bar, and lounge options, and many of them are only available to hotel guests and club members. The main spot for breakfast is the Inn Dining Room (you may need to read that twice; it is a restaurant!), which has a fantastic daily buffet. You can do breakfast even grander at Seahorse Grille’s Sunday Brunch, or simpler with something grab-and-go from The Gourmet Shop.
Lunch can be had at Surf Deck Grille by the beach for casual but delightful dishes or at the Beach Side Snack Bar by the family pool for similar offerings. The Golf Club Dining Room is a top choice as well, overlooking the “island golf hole” on the lagoon and offering soups, salads, and specialty sandwiches.
The Golf Club Dining Room is very popular for dinner on Fridays and Saturdays, when they do specials like prime rib nights. Seahorse Grille is one of the main dinner restaurants with upscale meat and seafood dishes with all kinds of Florida flavors. The Tavern is another popular option for small plates and cocktails in the evenings.
There are several other casual and seasonal places to eat at Ponte Vedra Inn & Club, as well as in-room dining. Plus, guests get access to several more options at The Lodge & Club Ponte Vedra Beach just down the road.
➞ Room Guide
With 10 buildings, there’s quite a bit of variation in accommodations at Ponte Vedra Inn & Club. Most rooms have ocean views, but don’t count out the charming historic options. Decor and furnishings vary across the categories as well, so be sure to take a look at photos to determine where you want to stay.
Historic Inn & Island View Rooms: These two categories are the only ones that don’t offer ocean views. However, Historic Inn Rooms have their own charm with elements of the inn’s origins overlooking the lagoons or resort, while Island View Rooms offer a bit more modernity with the same views. Both sleep up to five with one king or two queen beds.
Oceanfront, Beachside, and Atlantic House Rooms: Oceanfront varieties are on higher floors and have direct sea views to enjoy from your balcony. Beachside puts you a bit lower and has more limited views but close access to the sand. Atlantic House rooms are larger but more classic in design, as opposed to the modern and renovated versions of the former two categories.
Suites: There are Standard and Superior Oceanfront Suites, which offer lots of extra modern and luxurious space for groups of up to five. The Presidential Suite and Penthouse Suite can both accommodate the same number of guests but are distinct in design and notably larger.
➞ Special Experiences
Ponte Vedra Inn & Club offers plenty of special things to do that make your exclusive stay even more unique. Families enjoy the shell and shark tooth hunting along the waterline on the beach. You can even rent a big tire bike to pedal along the flat shore or on one of the coastal paths.
Adults may prefer to kick back at The Spa at Ponte Vedra Inn & Club, which is the region’s largest at 30,000 square feet. More than 100 treatments are on the menu, as is a large relaxation room, steam room, sauna, and outdoor grotto.
