What’s Special About This Resort
On the northern coastline of Crete, halfway between Chania and Heraklion, is the idyllic all-inclusive resort Nautilux Rethymno. Taking inspiration from the local environment, Nautilux is the perfectly executed blend of modern style, beautiful architectural design, and natural elements.
For those of you dreaming of an Instagram worthy holiday without the pricetag, Nautilux is perfect for those bikini poses and cocktail hi-5s! And to ensure that you always look your best, the resort includes a small gym, a spa center, 3 pools, and daily activities such as morning yoga.
Crete is full of rich culture, spectacular views, and beautiful cities, and renting a car is something we highly recommend. A 15-minute drive from the resort is the local Rethymno, considered to be one the most beautiful towns of Crete, complete with a historical castle. Also, Chania and Heraklion, the two largest cities of Crete, are both reachable in around an hour.
Nautilux Rethymno offers Half Board (breakfast + one meal – all drinks are extra) and Full Board options (all 3 meals + drinks included). For Full Board, all non-alcoholic drinks such as sodas or coffee/tea are unlimited. For alcoholic drinks, there is a daily limit which is one bottle of wine, 2 cocktails, and 4 beers. Daily drink allowance products can be mixed, according to your taste. Once the limit is reached, drinks must be bought. Breakfast and Dinner is a buffet in the main Ulivo restaurant. Lunch is a set menu of 30 dishes and can be served around the resort – the main restaurant is closed for lunch. The Nautilux Wellness & Spa center includes the indoor heated pool for all to use. All other spa treatments are extra.

What to Do
Nautilux Rethymno is a resort with fitness and wellness at its core. That includes a small gym, daily activities, and a spa center. If breaking a sweat is your kind of holiday kitesurfing, trekking, cycling, paragliding, and diving can all be booked from the front desk.
For the lazier days, consider renting a car and visiting the many vineyards and viewpoints, or journey to Chania and Heraklion, the two largest Cretan cities; just watch out for the goats on the road!
Closer to the resort, Rethymno is a very pretty town with a picturesque old town and Venetian harbor, lined with plentiful eateries and craft shops.
What to Eat and Drink
Nautilux Rethymno offers Half Board and Full Board options. Half Board is an international buffet breakfast and one extra meal (either lunch or dinner), which can be decided on the day. For full board, all three meals are included.
Both breakfast and dinner are a buffet served in Ulivo, the main restaurant. Keeping with the Mediterranean way of life, lunch is a more relaxed set menu. Order from wherever you happen to be relaxing, whether it’s at the beach, poolside, or in your room. Using local produce, the dinner buffet consists of Meditterean-inspired dishes. There is a range of dishes to suit most dietary requirements.
Nautilux Rethymno has two bars – the main one is situated in the heart of the resort, making it a great spot to start or end your day. Drinks, alcoholic and non-alcoholic, can be ordered from both the Main and Poolside bar.
There is a range of beautifully crafted cocktails and snacks for when you get peckish. It’s worth noting that only non-alcoholic drinks are included with Half Board, and that cocktails are around €12. For full-board guests, there is a limit that the resort caps with a 12 point system – for example 12 small beers.
Room Guide
Nautilux offers a range of 10 different rooms and suites, ranging from standard rooms, more superior rooms with a hot tub or plunge pool, to deluxe suites of multiple rooms with a hot tub or a plunge pool.
The accommodation offers state of the art intuitive technology with a smart room panel that controls lighting, shading, heating and cooling, security, and multimedia. Another great attention to detail is that all rooms are equipped with memory foam mattresses and a pillow menu, ensuring a great sleep.
Basic Rooms
The entry-level Standard, Classic, and Garden View rooms are the smallest, but a silver lining is that they do have a decent balcony, helping to extend the room. They all include the same amenities as the more grand rooms and suites. This includes a hairdryer, bathrobe, cosmetics, and coffee facilities.
Rooms with a Hot Tub/Plunge Pool
The next tier of rooms is the Patio and Superior, still with a single room layout but also including a hot tub or a plunge pool.
The Patio Room is located on the semi ground level, with the window views full of green garden foliage. The room is a larger 42m2 to accommodate an indoor hot tub, with a curtain separating it from the bed.
The Superior Room is probably Nautilux’s best mid-range room, with a serene plunge pool located at the end of the patio. Located on the ground floor, most Superior Rooms have small hedges and a path separating them from the main pool area to ensure their guests don’t have to sacrifice their privacy.
Suites with a Hot Tub/Plunge Pool
The top tier of accommodation is the suites, all with multiple rooms and more floor space respectively. The Executive, Deluxe, Master, and Maisonette all include a hot tub, and the Junior has a plunge pool.
Nautilux’s circular shapes are beautifully mirrored in these suites with their curved sofas, soft lighting, and arched ceilings. The star of the show is the Maisonette boasting over 50m2 and two bedrooms on two separate floors, each with their own en-suite, a true penthouse feel!
Special Experiences
Although children of 12 years and older are permitted, Nautilux is definitely catered to adults. As soon as you don’t want to take part in their free fitness offerings or lie by the pool, all activities and experiences are extra.
For thrill seekers, the front desk can arrange fun activities such as scuba diving, paragliding, cycling tours, and watersports like kitesurfing, jetskiing, and kayaking.
Nautilux offers private dining experiences. These tailor-made menus can be enjoyed in the comfort of your veranda or beachfront, under the stars. A perfectly romantic evening!
Being about an hour away from both Chania and Heraklion airports, the only way to get to Nautilux is by car. They can arrange a private airport transfer which will set you back around €100.
Depending on how long you stay, it may be worth hiring a car yourself straight from the airport rather than forking out €200 in just airport transfers. Nautilux has free underground parking along with a valet service. Rethymno is about a 15 minutes drive away, and Crete is known for its dramatic landscapes, beautiful cities, and interesting beaches, so renting a car is definitely to be considered.
