What’s Special About This Resort
While it’s true that all of the hotels on this list are incredibly romantic, we’re giving the prize to Le Bora Bora by Pearl Resorts – also known as the Bora Bora Pearl Beach Resort.
It’s the private and luxurious bungalows, the special romantic touches the staff puts in them, and the overall ambiance of this secluded resort that makes it a dream honeymoon, anniversary, or other celebration destination. It’s the only resort on Tevairoa, a small island across a small channel to the main island and the closest one to the airport.
Many of its beach and overwater bungalows have unbelievable private pools that can be covered with rose petals, while other island greenery can be used to decorate inside. In fact, there’s a whole host of romance touches available to browse on the resort’s website to request, and you can always ask for something custom.
With a gorgeous spot on the lagoon but easy access to the rest of Bora Bora, it will be hard to decide how often to leave.
Things we like:
-
Great bungalows that beautifully combine local culture and modern amenities
-
Special romantic touches like rose petals in your private pool or hearts and messages made of leaves and flowers on the bed
-
Breakfast buffet here is particularly popular and has something new every day
-
Great location just a few minutes from both the airport and main island; plus, it’s on its own island
-
Lagoon swimming is excellent here with very shallow water
Things we don't like:
-
Some rooms have cooling problems, which isn’t ideal in the hot weather of Bora Bora
-
As opposed to breakfast, longer-stay guests report getting bored by dinner options after a few days
What to Do
You should definitely take advantage of the amazing spot on the lagoon that Le Bora Bora by Pearl Resorts has. Paddle boards, kayaks, and outrigger canoes are all available for use on the crystal-clear water, as is snorkel equipment for exploring the shallow underwater paradise.
On land, couples can play tennis, ping pong, or even try pétanque – a French sport similar to bocce ball that’s well-known in that country and addicting for those who try it! Guests can also enjoy a large air-conditioned gym and the Tāvai Spa, with a massive menu of treatments.
All of the activities famous in Bora Bora are easily bookable by the team. That includes jet ski safaris, lagoon tours with picnics on a motu, scuba diving, shark and ray snorkeling, and much more. Plus, the shuttle boat ride to Vaitape is quick from this island, and all of the land attractions, restaurants, and shopping are just across the channel.
Of course, many couples on a romantic getaway prefer to kick back under a palm tree or sip a cocktail from the pool. These are great choices at this resort, especially considering the large pool with mountain views and the bungalows with private pools.
What to Eat & Drink
The Bora Bora Pearl Beach Resort offers three restaurants and two bars, plus room service and private romantic dining setups. Breakfast is served at Otemanu Restaurant, located at the highest point of the resort, which gets particularly great reviews from guests for its constant specials and variety.
The only option for lunch is Miki Miki Restaurant, which serves all kinds of island specialties and international favorites out by the pool and beach. You can also enjoy this casual option for dinner with a beautiful view.
Otemanu Restaurant reopens for dinner as well and offers French, Polynesian, and other dishes from around the world with local flair. Twice a week, there’s a Polynesian show and buffet here. The fine dining experience of the resort is found at Poerava, with its gourmet French menu.
As for drinking, guests can enjoy the Manuia Bar out by the pool or Uaina Bar next to Otemanu Restaurant. In-bungalow dining is an option 24 hours per day.
Room Guide
All accommodations are bungalow-style villas at Le Bora Bora by Pearl Resorts. They’re available both on land and over the lagoon, and many offer private swimming pools – an ideal choice for a romantic trip.
Garden and Beach Villas with Pools: While everyone wants to stay in an overwater bungalow in Bora Bora, staying in a land villa here has its perks – like a ton of extra living space and a private pool. These categories count more than 1,300 and 1,500 square feet of space, respectively, and their private gardens are fully enclosed, meaning your time in your pool is totally private.
Overwater Villas: These categories are separated by their spot on the pontoon, with standard being closest to shore, Lagoon View further out, and Otemanu View near the end. There’s about 850 square feet of space that includes glass panels to gaze down into the lagoon and a large deck with water access.
Pool Overwater Villas & End-of-Pontoon: The varieties that offer pools on their decks are larger and at the end of the pontoon, and these pools are some of the best we’ve seen. The End-of-Pontoon variety is the last on the path, providing luxurious privacy, the best views, and about double the space.
Royal Beach Villa with Pool: This massive two-bedroom residence on the beach is the ultimate choice for families or groups. Up to six adults and two children can stay and enjoy the private infinity pool and stunning Mount Otemanu views.
Special Experiences
Le Bora Bora by Pearl Resorts makes it easy to set up a special experience, especially for couples on a romantic getaway. There’s a full menu of possibilities to choose from.
If you want to actually tie the knot here or have a vow renewal ceremony, the team can set up everything ranging from small and intimate to larger celebrations. Traditional Tahitian customs, decorations, and other components can be incorporated for a day that you’ll never forget. It can even be done on a private motu.
Even if a full ceremony isn’t necessary, you can still easily choose from a variety of island flower arrangements to greet you in your villa, with unique options like hearts on the bed or petals in the pool. Complement that with breakfast delivered by canoe or a private dinner under the stars for the full effect.
Any visitors, on a romantic escape or not, can enjoy a cruise on the Okeanos Pearl – a solar-powered electric catamaran that helps keep the lagoon healthy and shows visitors its beauty. The boat goes on daily sunset cruises but can also be chartered for half and full-day excursions.
