What’s Special About This Resort
The name of Ka’ana Resort means “heavenly place” in the Mayan language, and we think that’s a pretty accurate way to describe it. Surrounded by lush rainforest in the far western part of Belize near the town of San Ignacio, this Belize resort is an oasis of modern luxury among undisturbed nature and history.
There’s no beach here, but you can relax in the resort pool, your suite or villa’s private pool, or its terrace bathtub. Mayan spa treatments and jungle yoga allow even deeper indulgence. Adventures to natural wonders and cultural sites can be as active or as relaxed as you’d like – good choices include the sacred Actun Tunichil Muknal (ATM) Cave and the Yaxche sunset spot champagne picnic.
Your stay at Ka’ana Resort can be all-inclusive if it is at least three nights long, which is recommended anyway. With this package, you get breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily, along with ground transportation from your arrival airport.

➞ What to Do
Wellness amenities at Ka’ana Resort include a central swimming pool with a sunbathing terrace and poolside service, yoga sessions in various jungle locations, and a Mayan-inspired spa. Beyond special treatments, including the popular Mayan abdominal massage, you can get simpler services here, like relief for sunburn and mosquito bites.
There is a wide range of off-site activities to try in this part of Belize. The Actun Tunichil Muknal (ATM) Cave should be considered a do-not-miss for active people who don’t mind a short forest trek, wading through rivers, and a small bit of climbing and squeezing to reach a peaceful but mysterious cave used for ancient ceremonies. If you need something just as scenic but a bit more relaxed, consider river tubing through caves and below the rainforest canopy instead.
Another huge advantage to being on this side of Belize is the easy access to tons of Mayan archaeological sites. Xunantunich, Caracol, and Tikal are popular choices that are powerful to experience, with the latter being across the border in Guatemala – an exciting day trip. The resort can also arrange experiences like Mayan cooking classes and ceramic making.
➞ What to Eat & Drink
There are two dining and drinking options at Ka’ana Resort. La Ceiba is the main restaurant serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with indoor and outdoor seating to suit your preferences. The cuisine is American-Belizean and makes use of organic ingredients sourced straight from the resort farm, and everything is served à la carte.
The alternative is The Wallace, a more “jungle-casual” bar serving mixologist-crafted cocktails from early afternoon to late evening. Lighter appetizers, sandwiches, and pizzas are also served, making this place an option for lunch and dinner as well.
An advantage of this resort is its location – while remote in the rainforest, it’s also on a main road that can have you in the town of San Ignacio in less than 10 minutes, whether by rental car or taxi. That gives you easy access to a number of authentic local restaurants as well, and it’s highly recommended to try this for at least one meal.
➞ Room Guide
There are just a handful of accommodations and a few categories to choose from at Ka’ana Resort. The main differentiator is that they progressively get bigger and more luxurious, so choose based on what you want to get out of your room and how much of a budget you have to work with.
Balam Suites: There are five of these standard rooms situated in a hacienda-style house that overlooks the pool and tropical gardens. Up to two guests can comfortably stay in these, with 300 square feet of space and one queen bed, plus an outdoor terrace with seating.
Casita Suites & Master Suites: Casitas are a bit larger than standard rooms and offer much larger outdoor spaces that are more like private yards, which also have an outdoor tub. They can also have one or two queen beds. Master Suites, on the other hand, only have one king but are much larger in size. Their private gardens have private plunge pools and outdoor showers.
One-Bedroom and Two-Bedroom Pool Villas: The most deluxe accommodations at the resort are located in private corners of the jungle and offer tons of indoor-outdoor living space. Besides the private swimming pools, other special amenities include butler service and private dining.
➞ Special Experiences
Couples traveling to Ka’ana Resort who want to combine wellness, adventure, and romance can select the Romance Package for a seamless stay that includes everything. The stay comes with not just transportation and breakfast but also a private dining experience, a half-day tour to Xunantunich, a couples massage, and a helicopter tour.
Like other jungle resorts, Ka’ana has a sister property on the seaside – Itz’ana Resort. You can easily book a vacation package that includes stays at both to make sure you get the best of Belize. But that’s not your only option, as they also have relationships with Victoria House Resort & Spa, Las Terrazas Resort, and a luxury liveaboard catamaran as well for more ways to extend your stay to the sea.
