What’s Special About This Resort
We’ve already covered the Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana’s “Ziva” counterpart above – as briefly mentioned, there’s a whole other paradise right next door with some shared amenities. And for many couples, friend groups, or solo travellers who aren’t with children of their own, the peaceful adults-only atmosphere on the other side is the place to be.
Infinity pools and swim-up bars are some of the grown-up-friendly benefits of the Zilara resort, while the lazy river and waterslides of the Canapolis Water Park are still certainly available to those who want to play.
A tranquil spa is on-site, while adventure parks, golf, and boat-based activities are a short ride down the road.
All rates at the Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana are all-inclusive, and guests get unlimited dining and drinking at 6 restaurants and 5 bars and lounges. That includes top-shelf wines and liquors, as well as 24-hour room service. Other inclusions are non-motorized water sports, live entertainment, aqua gym classes, and more.
Things we like:
-
Adults-only peace and quiet, with more playful amenities like a waterpark available next door
-
Beautiful infinity pools with swim-up bars
-
Interesting dining options like Tahitian and Mongolian
-
Exceptional spa experience at the Larimar Spa
-
Juanillo Beach is one of the better, more swimmable ones in Cap Cana with warm water and a sandy bottom
Things we don't like:
-
Not a ton of nighttime entertainment apart from live music; some adults find it too quiet
-
Many of the daily activities take place near the Ziva property, where kids are present

What to Do
The pool experience at Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana is one of its main draws. Several sprawling infinity pools offer stunning views of the Caribbean, and you don’t even have to get out for a refill, thanks to the swim-up bars. Sunken cabana seating and swim-out rooms enhance the experience.
You’ll go into an underground cave for treatments at the two-story Larimar Spa, such as massages and hydrotherapy. For more active days, included with your room is access to Zumba, spinning, Pilates, and TRX training classes.
This is one of the closest resorts to the Cap Cana Marina, making it easy to hop on a fishing charter boat, a snorkel or diving excursion, or other ocean adventures. However, Juanillo Beach is just steps from your room, and this is one of the best swimming beaches in Cap Cana – and watersports equipment is free to use.
At the end of the day, an outdoor amphitheater offers nightly live music and local dancing performances to keep the fun going. Enjoy evening drinks there or on your room’s terrace with 24-hour room service!
What to Eat and Drink
While there are 6 restaurants and 5 bars and lounges at the Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana, guests can also enjoy all of the ones offered at the Ziva next door. Therefore, it’s difficult to be unsatisfied with the culinary offerings here.
Breakfast is served at The Pier, offering a wide variety of dishes on a buffet line for lunch and dinner as well. Club Level guests can also have breakfast and lunch at Shutters Beachside, serving Peruvian-Caribbean cuisine, while all guests can enjoy it for dinner.
Presto Pizzeria is another always-great and casual lunch option, as are the many bars scattered around the pools, including Club Level-only options. Deja Brew is the spot for quick coffees and French patisserie-style sweets throughout the day.
Besides the buffet, there are a few very interesting other dinner options. Brando’s is probably the only Polynesian-French cuisine in the Dominican Republic and definitely warrants a try. On the other hand, Journeys will take you on a journey to India in a literal train car dining room.
Room Guide
All 375 rooms at the Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana have ocean views, some of them more direct than others. But there are many different room categories that mainly differ by size, as well as special features like Swim-Up and Club Level.
Junior Suites: These 600-square-foot rooms offer one king or two queen beds plus a sofa and a furnished balcony. Location options include standard, resort, ocean view, and oceanfront.
Swim-Up: These special rooms are of the same design as Junior Suites and spread around different parts of the resort with semi-private pools, which you can step into off your balcony. Some have both swim-up access and ocean views.
Club Level: Each of the rooms above also comes in Club Level package configuration. Along with the standard luxuries, these guests get private check-in and exclusive concierge services, premium-brand liquors, a lounge, exclusive breakfast and lunch restaurants, and a Club Level-only private pool. Ocean Front varieties are only available on Club Lounge reservations.
One-Bedroom Master Suites and Presidential Suite: The various suites offer at least 1,200 square feet of space, if not more, and full living rooms. Private hot tubs are another big bonus. All suites are Club Level, and Swim-Up varieties are also possible.
Special Experiences
One of the easiest ways to make your experience at the Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana instantly more special is to book a room with Club Level access. Your adults-only escape becomes even more private and exclusive thanks to less-crowded pools and restaurants, a special lounge, and discounts on spa treatments.
You can also make dinner more romantic by arranging your own private table in a special spot: either on the beachside or in an oceanfront gazebo. A gourmet meal will be served by candlelight with no distractions besides the stars and the waves.
Or, do something even more adventurous by arranging a trip to Scape Park natural adventure center. Zipline over treetops, snorkel in caverns, and see some of the most spectacular scenery that you just can’t find at home.
