What to Do
Like most Texas Hill Country resorts, most of the fun is outdoors-based at this Hyatt Regency. Under the summer sun, you’ll surely want to get wet. Choose between the lazy river, waterfall pool, and slides to make a splash. You can also try your balance on the FlowRider Wave Machine.
The resort sits on 300 acres of ranchland, offering ample opportunities for nature walks, hikes, jogging, and mountain biking. Two golf courses are on-site, as are tennis and volleyball courts. Evening campfires are the perfect place for making new friends and roasting s’mores.
Head into San Antonio and visit the famous San Antonio Riverwalk is just a 20-minute drive away with all its shopping and dining, as are historical sites like The Alamo. The SeaWorld and Aquatica theme parks are practically across the street, while Six Flags Fiesta Texas is just down the road.
What to Eat & Drink
The Hyatt Regency Hill Country’s main restaurant is the Springhouse Café, open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day. Guests enjoy Texas hospitality, southern comfort food, and classic American meat dishes for each meal in a casual atmosphere here.
Out by the pools, options include Papa Ed’s Pool Bar and Grill and Vince’s Watering Hole, where simple burgers, salads, and beverages are served up in between the outdoor fun. The Cactus Oak Tavern is a similar option near the golf course and has a full bar.
For dinner, be sure to try Antlers Lodge, an upscale dining room serving Texas traditional with a twist. For a more casual Texan night, Charlie’s Long Bar is a place to shoot some billiards and throw some darts with a drink.
Room Guide
You won’t find standard, cookie-cutter chain hotel rooms at this resort. Each newly-renovated room and suite is outfitted with ranch-inspired aesthetics, including hardwood floors, an accent wall, and local Texas artwork. Your choice comes down to space and outdoor access.
Standard Rooms: Equipped with one king bed or two queens, guests can select between a window, balcony, or ground-floor terrace when booking these rooms. Each has 392 square feet of space with a work desk and seating area.
Preferred Rooms: These aren’t all that different from the above, but offer more spacious patios and more desirable views of the ranch grounds. The patio allows for direct access to the resort’s outdoor activities.
Hill Country Suites: At 599 square feet, these one-bedroom suites offer the luxury of more space and a living room separate from the bedroom. They also come with either a window, balcony, or patio, while bedding is always one king with one sofa pullout. They can connect to a standard room for families in need of even more capacity.
Specialty Suites: In these suites, you go from elegant hotel luxury to full-on lodge-like accommodations. High-end furnishings and distinct decor will make you feel like you’ve retreated to your own Hill Country estate.
Special Experiences
Take the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to ride a wave on the FlowRider – a unique water park attraction that you won’t find at just any resort and which can be reserved for a private 30-minute or 1-hour session at the Hyatt Regency Hill Country. You can also enhance your poolside experience by reserving a private cabana, each of which is equipped with luxuries like flat-screen TVs and ceiling fans.
You can further relax at the Windflower Spa, unique from others in that it’s located in a refurbished barn. Besides massages, facials, and nail services, it has its own tranquil pool as well as a steam room and sauna.
Finally, families will love spending time together in the evenings for family movie nights on the lawn or for s’mores around a campfire. You can also go for a night swim under the stars – the pools are heated and open late-night!
