What’s Special About This Resort
Nightlife in Paris doesn’t have a reputation like Ibiza or Mykonos, but those who know where to look can find a roaring scene after dark. Venues are scattered around the city, but there’s a concentration of some of the best in and around the 9th arrondissement, Clichy, and Montmartre – putting Hôtel Villathena in an ideal spot to reach them.
This budget-friendly hotel may be simple, but it has everything you need for a clean and comfortable night’s (or day’s) sleep. Being next to the Saint-Lazare train station is a plus for transport, but you can walk to most of the big clubs of the area: Rex Club, Le Carmen, La Machine du Moulin Rouge, and Moulin Rouge itself. The savings of not staying in one of the city’s luxury hotels add more money to the partying and sightseeing funds.

➞ What to Do
If you’re taking our advice and staying at Hôtel Villathena for access to nightlife, there are a few spots to point out. It’s a 15-minute walk to Le Carmen, a club inside an ornate, baroque-style building that doesn’t open until midnight for its DJ parties. La Machine du Moulin Rouge is the same distance and offers three floors of dancing and drinking on the weekends. Finally, it’s less than 30 minutes to Rex Club, so a quick Uber may be appropriate.
The famed Moulin Rouge is just up the road as well, and it’s easy to enjoy a cabaret dinner here from your hotel’s location. Other entertainment options within a few blocks’ radius include comedy clubs, performing arts theaters, and the poker room at Club Montmartre.
If you’re a walker, it only takes about 30 minutes to reach the stunning Sacré-Cœur Basilica of Montmartre, one of the best places in the city for photographers. Another is the Palais Garnier opera house, which is 15 minutes in the other direction. You can easily visit the more distant Paris attractions, like Versailles and Disneyland, by hopping on an RER train at Saint-Lazare station next to the hotel.
➞ What to Eat & Drink
You won’t find any dining options at Hôtel Villathena except for a daily breakfast served either in the buffet room or delivered to your room. The streets around the Saint-Lazare train station, as well as the large mall that surrounds it, have a ton of fast food options if you just need something quick and cheap during the day or night.
If you’d rather have a more formal, quality lunch or dinner, one of the best options nearby is Perruche – a rooftop restaurant above the famous Printemps Hausmann department store. The specialty there is classic Provencal cuisine, which, combined with the open-air dining room, is the perfect place for a summer meal that will transport you to the Côte d’Azur.
➞ Room Guide
There are just three different room types to choose from at Hôtel Villathena, with no super-premium options available. Each of them slightly differs in size. Budget-watchers will find the quality, comfort, and cleanliness to be exceptional for the price point here.
Classic: While these are rather small at 160 square feet, people who just need one double bed or two twins to sleep in will be content. All rooms in this category face the street.
Deluxe: These have about 215 square feet of space, representing a small but significant upgrade. Rooms may face the street or courtyard and offer small balconies with seating. A Deluxe and a Classic room can interconnect to form a Family Room.
Executive: With 270 square feet of space, this is the largest option, with a little sitting area along with one double bed or two twins. They also have espresso machines and are all on the fifth floor.
➞ Special Experiences
You’ll have to look outside Hôtel Villathena for any special experiences on your Paris trip, as this boutique hotel doesn’t have much in the way of entertainment. But it isn’t hard to find nearby. For example, the famous Moulin Rouge cabaret show is just a 15-minute walk up the road, and you can enjoy the most Parisian of performances over dinner at this iconic stage.
The Clichy neighborhood is known for its many theaters and performance venues. If you speak French, you’ll have more options, but English-language shows and concerts can be found. It doesn’t matter what language you speak at the poker table – grab a table or a spot in a tournament at Club Montmartre to see if you can win big.
