What to Do
The islands of the Bahamas are synonymous with picture-perfect beaches, and much of the fun on vacation here takes advantage of that. This resort is located on the famous Cabbage Beach, known for its soft sand and just-right water temperature.
Along the beach, you’ll find places to rent toys like paddleboards and jet skis – the latter is a must-do on Paradise Island. You can go even further by booking a parasailing adventure to see the islands from above or a scuba diving excursion to see what’s below. School House Reef is one of the most famous spots to see vibrant Caribbean fish and coral.
One of the things that draw visitors to Paradise Island specifically, though, is the variety of fun that goes beyond the sun and sand. There are many resorts around offering entertainment like live music, shows, and exciting casinos – Atlantis is the most famous, and it’s just down the road. A beautiful golf course occupies the eastern part of the island.
Cross the bridge back into Nassau, the country’s capital, to see local attractions like the iconic pink parliament building and centuries-old forts from the colonial era. If all this sounds great, but you just want to relax above all, the hotel’s Renova Spa is ready to offer beauty treatments and pampering that won’t require you to move a muscle
What to Eat & Drink
The hotel’s main restaurant serves a buffet with live cooking stations for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, offering a variety of tastes that will suit any visitor’s preferences. Three nights a week, special theme nights take place here, included in your package as well.
If you’re looking for à-la-carte options or more variety, four other restaurants are available for reservation. Tengoku offers Japanese delights, while the Bahamas restaurant specializes in steaks. You can also try the best of Caribbean cuisine at the Jerk barbecue station or more creative takes at the Krystal fusion restaurant.
Under the hot Bahamas sun, you’ll probably need something sweet at some point – Capuchino pâtisserie and ice cream shop is the place to grab a scoop (or a few) as you please.
Don’t hesitate to venture out and try something from a local vendor, either. Specialties of the Bahamas include conch, which is hard to describe but fun to try, and red lobster, which is just as great as it sounds.
Room Guide
While there are a number of different room categories at the Hotel Riu Palace Paradise Island, they essentially boil down to two main qualities: size and view.
Junior Suites: These are the standard room types at the resort and count over 330 square feet (31 square meters) of space. They are separated into regular with sea view, Superior with sea view, and Frontal sea view, each of which simply determines how direct the view is. No matter what, you’re sure to have a lovely balcony, air conditioning, wifi, and a comfortable king bed or two doubles.
Suites: The suites are slightly larger, ranging from around 409 square feet (38 square meters) to 570 square feet (53 square meters). Options include standard, sea view, and family-sized with sea view. Note that the latter has two bedrooms plus a living room, while the others only have a separate sitting area and not a true separate room. Of course, they all come with balconies, air conditioning, and wifi, and comfy king-sized beds.
Special Experiences
This can be a great place to take your trip up a level for your significant other. Being an adults-only property, the resort offers many opportunities for romantic gestures and is ready to go above and beyond to help.
The concierge is capable of setting up a romantic dinner under the stars if you need a night away from the crowds of the buffets and restaurants. Experiences like ocean cruises, scuba diving, and island tours can also be tailored as private.
There’s even more beyond the resort to make a trip extra special. Swimming with dolphins is one of the main highlights of the nearby Atlantis resort. But, one of the best wildlife experiences of all will require a short boat ride to a nearby cay – Rose Island, where the famous swimming pigs of the Bahamas live.
