What’s Special About This Resort
As we’ve seen so far, Paris hotels are generally not cheap, and you usually don’t want to pick the ones that are. Hôtel Paradis is one of the few exceptions, where you can find clean, bright, and modern accommodations for a really good price.
Rooms aren’t particularly large, and there is no restaurant, but wouldn’t you rather be spending your time and meals around the City of Lights anyway?
Exploring on foot from this spot in the 10th arrondissement will bring you through the scenic streets of Paris before reaching the major tourist hotspots. The major train hubs of Gare de l’Est and Gare du Nord are a 10-minute walk away, making it easy to go further – including to London on the Eurostar from the latter. A quiet, comfortable bedroom and bathroom are ready to recharge your batteries each night for the next day.

➞ What to Do
If you’re exploring Paris on foot, one of the first attractions you’ll come across near Hôtel Paradis is the Choco-Story Museum of Chocolate at the end of the road. This tasty experience is great for kids, couples, and anyone else who loves chocolate, with history, demonstrations, and tastings.
Walking west from there on Boulevard Montmartre will bring you to the Grévin Museum, where you can learn some French history based on lifelike wax figures of people important to the country. It’s just straight down one road from there to the Louvre for the do-not-miss history and heritage experience of Paris.
A métro ride from the Bonne Nouvelle stop near Hôtel Paradis can take you quickly to the left bank of the Seine, with a stop at Les Invalides, where you can visit the Tomb of Napoleon and the War Museum. If you do those in the afternoon, you’ll be just in time to walk over to the Champ de Mars to see the Eiffel Tower sparkle at night.
➞ What to Eat & Drink
There is no food or drink served at Hôtel Paradis besides a morning breakfast buffet and a lounge with coffee and tea available for taking. If you want to save even more money, skip the buffet and pick one of the many nearby boulangeries to grab a quick croissant or pain au chocolat, plus a coffee.
Around the corner is a crêperie called Galbar, where you can try real-deal French crêpes, both savory (for a main course) and sweet (for dessert). Across the street is Père et Fish, a French fast-food restaurant based on fish that’s extremely popular. Both will contribute to saving money.
➞ Room Guide
As mentioned, rooms at Hôtel Paradis are small, but they are full of natural light and outfitted with modern and trendy amenities. Higher-level categories are worth looking into if you want something special, as they add things like larger layouts and the best views. These rooms are among the best we’ve seen from budget hotels in Paris.
Comfort & Superior: At under 150 square feet, there won’t be a ton of room for activities, but just enough for one double bed or two twins, plus a private bathroom. A TV with international channels, air conditioning, and wifi provides everything you need in between sightseeing. Superior rooms can also be booked with balconies.
Deluxe: Still petite, at just 200 square feet, Deluxe rooms offer a notable upgrade with space to spread out that includes a sofa. Transforming it into a bed allows up to four adults to stay in these rooms.
Under the Roof Sacré-Cœur View: These go back to the 150-square-foot layout and require a flight of stairs to reach, being on the top floor, but guests are rewarded with views of the beautiful basilica in the distance.
Junior Suite: With 350 square feet of space, including a little sitting area, these are the most spacious rooms of all for a couple, and they catch Sacré Cœur Basilica views from the top floor.
➞ Special Experiences
To make your trip to Paris extra special, you’ll need to look beyond Hôtel Paradis, as you might expect. Its close proximity to the Gare de l’Est and Gare du Nord train stations may spark your interest in setting up a day trip outside the city to some romantic places. Rather than paying for an organized tour or a private driver to these places, you can DIY it very easily and more affordably.
From Gare de l’Est, hop on a TGV to the city of Reims, just 45 minutes to the east and the capital of the Champagne region. Local TER trains can bring you to Épernay, a smaller village to its south, where the House of Moët & Chandon stores its prestigious bottles and offers tastings on tours. You can be back in Paris for dinner after your day in the vineyards.
From Gare du Nord, there’s an even more distant day trip that can be done – London, via the Eurostar fast train. It’s true that London deserves much more than a few hours during your trip to Paris. But it can be a thrilling surprise for your significant other to jet under the channel to a different country for the day, and it will end up being a lot cheaper than a separate trip.
