What’s Special About This Resort
Barrière is a well-known luxury hotel and casino brand in France, and its Paris property is often just called “Fouquet’s Paris”. It sits on the corner of Avenue George V and the Champs-Elysées, and many rooms directly overlook the famous street, with the Arc de Triomphe standing just blocks away.
While we’ve seen some pretty good dining on our list, this place takes the prize for both the quality and variety guests have access to, both on-site and nearby. Fouquet’s Brasserie is one of the most famous in the city, with visitors coming from all over to sit under its iconic red awnings.
Walk a few doors down to the Four Seasons Hotel George V if you’re looking for a Michelin-star meal, as they’ve got five of them. For dessert, take a box of macarons or other pastries from Ladurée or Pierre Hermé, both just steps from your room – in fact, try both, and weigh into the debate on which is superior.

➞ What to Do
In between all the great eating and drinking at Hôtel Barrière Le Fouquet’s, you’ll find yourself in the middle of all the action of the Champs-Élysées. Walk out of the lobby and cross one street to get to the famous Louis Vuitton of the avenue, and cross another to go to the Nike House of Innovation. Galeries Lafayette is a few blocks down and represents the best of French department store shopping.
Climb the steps to the top of the Arc de Triomphe to see the city from above, and thank God you don’t have to deal with driving in the crazy traffic circle below. You can also walk the few more blocks that form Paris’ Golden Triangle to reach the Eiffel Tower, the many museums, and the bridges to the other side of the Seine.
There is a bit of entertainment back at Le Fouquet’s as well. Indulge at the very large Spa Diane Barrière, swim in the heated indoor pool, or play some games at the Casino Barrière – one of the most popular in Paris.
➞ What to Eat & Drink
We’ve given Le Fouquet’s Paris the prize for food and drink thanks to not only its four restaurants and bars but also its proximity to more amazing options. The variety of dining experiences in the hotel is quite impressive as well.
Its namesake restaurant, Le Fouquet’s, is the main attraction, serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Visitors come from all over to take a seat under the famous red awning on the Champs-Élysées and sip on wine, coffee, or a cocktail. Famous dishes include escargot, beef tartare, and French onion soup, but there are all kinds of tastes.
The other main restaurant is Le Joy, which offers a quieter and more comfortable indoor atmosphere. Both buffet and à-la-carte breakfast are served here, as are high-end French lunches and dinners. Afternoon tea is served in between, and on certain nights, a DJ is brought in for dancing and fun with dinner.
You can enjoy something lighter at L’Escadrille Bar, serving drinks and tapas. At night, ask around for the way to Le Marta, a speakeasy on the rooftop with music and dancing until late at night.
There are more than 10 Michelin-star restaurants within a 10-minute walk of the hotel if you want the finest dining in Paris – three of them are at the Four Seasons George V, a four-minute walk down the road. Don’t forget to weigh into the great debate on who has better macarons – Ladurée, a block to the right of the hotel, or Pierre Hermé, three blocks to the left.
➞ Room Guide
Fouquet’s Paris has 101 rooms and suites. If you want that iconic Champs-Élysées view, be sure to seek out a category that has that in the name; however, George V and garden-view varieties are nothing to complain about. Signature Suites takes your accommodation from a hotel suite to a Parisian luxury apartment.
Guest Rooms: These are about 400 square feet in size and offer one king-sized or two twin-sized beds. Superior, Deluxe, and Prestige Champs-Élysées are mainly differentiated by their views, with the latter being the most desirable.
Junior Suites and Standard Suites: If you want to reward yourself with a little upgrade, even the Junior Suites here are worth it, thanks to a smart layout that utilizes the extra space nicely. Full suites add a separate living room, which may make it more comfortable for those sharing a room. Again, those with Champs-Élysées views are named appropriately.
Exception (Signature) Suites: Each of these five apartment-style suites is unique and has the best panoramic views in the hotel. Decor and furnishings have been carefully curated by Jacques Garcia to represent the finest French art de vivre in the capital.
➞ Special Experiences
Enjoying the fine gastronomy in and around Fouquet’s Paris is sure to be special, but don’t miss the chance to go up to the more casual rooftop speakeasy, Le Marta, especially if you’re staying during the summer. The door is located behind a bookshelf, and the atmosphere is “Miami Beach in the 70s,” with retro music and vintage cocktails. It’s a fun and unique way to spend a night in Paris as a couple or with friends.
If you love fashion and luxury brands, you can celebrate the finest in France even more than by shopping in their Champs-Élysées flagship stores. Brands like Dior and Yves Saint Laurent have museums dedicated to their couture in this area, walkable from Le Fouquet’s.
