What’s Special About This Resort
The Dominican Republic is the most-visited destination in the Caribbean, and Punta Cana is the most popular place in the country – so you aren’t short of beautiful resorts here. The Hilton La Romana stands out because you get two all-inclusive resort experiences to choose from. On one side, there’s a family-friendly beachfront resort with several pools, waterslides, and a kid’s club. On the other, you’ll find an adults-only haven of tranquility. Both sit on an idyllic white-sand, aqua-blue water beach.
Both sides of this large resort are completely all-inclusive, and best of all, each gets access to the other, too. In total, more than 20 dining outlets with unlimited food and drink are included with your stay, plus room service. Non-motorized watersports are free, as are daily activities and nightly entertainment.

What to Do
Couples and adults will surely want to take advantage of the infinity pools and lounge chairs on the quieter side of the resort, while families will enjoy the waterpark setup on the other side, with its many slides and dump bucket. There is no shortage of spots to relax beside the water here.
On the beach, there’s more to do than lie under a palm tree (although you could). Non-motorized watersports like kayaking, snorkeling, and windsurfing are available from the resort and free of charge. A PADI dive center is on-site and ready to take divers to wrecks and reefs around the shore.
There are two smaller uninhabited islands a few miles away – Catalina Island and Saona Island – where guests can take day cruises to and experience deserted beaches full of starfish and colorful reefs for a few hours. Sunset excursions for cocktails on the water are another popular type of cruise here.
Around the mainland of the Dominican Republic, activities like ziplining, hiking to waterfalls, and exploring caves are possible – the latter is available in the area near the hotel. The nearby towns of La Romana and Santo Domingo make for interesting places to explore Caribbean history, as well as dine and drink some more.
What to Eat & Drink
Between the restaurants, bars, and cafés of the Hilton La Romana’s family-friendly and adults-only sides, there are more than 20 dining outlets at your disposal as an all-inclusive guest – plus 24-hour room service.
Breakfast is served at Spices Market and Caoba, where you’ll find a buffet-style outlay of international delights every morning. Other breakfast bites are available at certain cafés and club lounges for guests who book a Premium Club rate.
Spices Market and Caoba continue their buffet services at lunchtime. Guests can also enjoy a slice or two at Pizzeria at the poolside or go for more elegant French fare at Tres Hermanas. Bars like Coral Reef serve light and casual bites all day as well.
Evenings open up the most variety for food. Spices Market and Caoba keep the buffet lines going and offer special cuisines each night. Try something new at Ausangate, where South American specialties are served, or something a bit more familiar but very undeniable at Azzurri, serving Italian classics. Pan-Asian, French, and local Dominican are cuisines you can try at other evening restaurants.
Room Guide
The Hilton La Romana properties are largely one big resort but have separate websites to book your reservations on, depending on whether you want to be on the family-friendly side or the adults-only side. The room categories at each are largely the same.
Deluxe Categories: These entry-level rooms on both sides of the resort come in garden view or partial-ocean view varieties and offer one king plus a sofa bed or two queen beds. Their 411 square feet (38 square meters) of space is elegantly decorated and offers a furnished terrace or balcony, as well as a minibar.
Premium Club Categories: The space and amenities of these rooms are the same as the Deluxe category, as are the bedding options and views. However, guests on Premium Club rates have special access to perks like dedicated reception services, a VIP lounge with snacking and drinks all day, an exclusive breakfast restaurant, and a private pool and beach area.
Swim-Up: This super-cool category is only available on Premium Club rates and gets a special mention. There’s nothing like opening your terrace door and stepping into the pool. Physical space, views, and bedding are equivalent to the above.
Suites: The largest rooms at the resort are also the ones with direct ocean views, although garden suites are also available. Certain one-bedroom suites are adults-only, but there is a Family Suite option as well. All of them add a beautiful living room, high ceilings, and a hydromassage tub.
Special Experiences
The Hilton La Romana is an excellent destination for couples in search of romance, families looking for a vacation, or friends wanting to have some fun in the sun.
One of the most special things to do near the resort is to take a catamaran cruise to Saona Island or Catalina Island. These nature reserves are just a short sail away and present empty, idyllic beaches, crystal-clear water full of colorful fish and reefs, and an even more distant escape from life. Book a private charter to make it a totally exclusive experience.
Back at the resort, families will definitely want to check out the Kids Club and the separate Teens Club. Sand castle contests, treasure hunts, beach campouts, and other exciting activities are available for the younger group, while teens can participate in foam parties, bonfires, batting cages, disco mixers, and more. They’ll meet new friends from all around the world.
Adults have a range of fun, special activities, too. Slots and table games in the casino, dance sessions and Spanish lessons with resort staff, and relaxation at the spa are a few of the highly-rated ones.
