Best Hardcase Set

The Gregory Quadro Pro Hardcase suitcase set was our biggest surprise this fall. We travel a lot and try out a lot of suitcases and travel bags, unfortunately many of these end up disappointing us. These 2 hardcase suitcases arrived just in time for a trip to West Africa to transport lights for an indoor farming project. We were thrilled to see how strong and sturdy they were and felt confident they would keep our cargo safe.

Not only were we happy with the Gregory hardcase suitcases’ build quality, we loved how easy they were to pack up and close up! Read on to find out all the details of the Quadro Pro Hardcase Suitcase Set.

Even with bulky contents the Gregory Quadro Pro Hardcase suitcase’s compartments secure easily

All You Need and Want in a Hardcase Suitcase

Hardcase suitcases are pretty straightforward, you don’t really think of them being hi-tech. But there is actually a lot of new technology going into making your suitcase better than before.

New compartments, lightweight materials, easy moving and strong zippers, components made from recycled materials, plus improvements to wheels – these are all things we love to take for granted in a suitcase. Gregory has been including new innovations to make their new suitcases tick all these boxes.

Anti-microbial Compartment

The ActiveShield anti-microbial compartment keeps dirt, moisture, and smells separated.

Gregory has included a zipper compartment with ActiveShield to keep any dirty, wet, or smelly things you have separated. It is made from recycled materials and uses anti-microbial technology to prevent bacteria growth.

It is included in both the 28 inch large suitcase and the 22 inch carry on. The ActiveShield compartment zips out easily for easy cleaning or if you don’t need it and need flexibility in packing.

The ActiveShield compartment can be easily removed for cleaning or if you need flexibility in packing

Easy Glide Zippers

One of the reasons we were impressed with this suitcase was because of how easy it was to pack up and close up. The zippers slid easily both on the inner compartments and on the outside to close it up and expand.

The Gregory Quadro Pro Hardcase suitcases have 3 zippered pockets, in addition to its large ActiveShield anti-microbial compartment, for organizing any small items.

Smooth Moving Spherical Wheels

Gregory has designed their suitcase wheels for easy moving and durability. They are shaped round, like a ball, to improve changing directions when rolling. They move easily over hard uneven surfaces. On soft carpet there is still a bit of struggle rolling upright, but we have yet to meet a suitcase that performs well on thick carpet.

Lots of Handles

The new design of the Gregory Quadro Pro Hardcase suitcases have molded grab handles in lots of places to make it easy to move this luggage around.

You can see the difference of having these well placed handles when compared to other brands. We lined the Gregory Quadro Pro 28 inch large suitcase up next to Away’s medium sized suitcase. And we compare the Quadro Pro carry on to a Samsonite carry on. We liked that we could pick up both the Gregory Quadro Pro suitcases with easier to grab side handles.

The extending trolley handle glides up and down easily and we like the soft rubber cover on the release button.

Little Additions that Make a Big Difference

We like the matte finish of the new design of the Quadro Pro Hardcase suitcases. The outer shell is made from scratch resistant polycarbonate and so far it has held up. With 3 flights over more than 24 hours the bags arrived with no noticeable marks – so far!

For durability softside suitcases still rank slightly higher, you can check out the Travel Pro Platinum Elite.

The Gregory Quadro Pro Hardcase suitcases come with an attached AirTag holder. With more flight mishaps it is a great option to keep track of where your luggage is.

We also really appreciate the integrated TSA approved combination locks on the Gregory suitcases. We always lock our luggage and it is so nice not worrying about if we remembered a lock or lost it somewhere during our travels.

And finally, we definitely have had trips where we ended up going on unexpected shopping sprees so having easily expanding bags is essential.

Value of the Gregory Quadro Pro Hardcase Suitcase Set

This is a new release from Gregory so at the time of publishing the set is only available on the Gregory site and is around $500. This is over $100 cheaper than these 2 suitcases from Away and we definitely feel the quality is at the same level – though right now we actually have to get our Away suitcase repaired so the Gregory may score higher after time.

Our favorite roller, the Level8 Set, and Samsonite suitcase sets do come in at a lower price but without many of the features the Gregory Quadro Pro Hardcase suitcases offer.

Do We Recommend Them?

Yes we highly recommend the Gregory Quadro Pro Hardcase Suitcases! We loved their simple ease of use. They are lightweight – packing was seamless and with the compartments and compression strap they were easy to zip closed. The wheels zoomed along different hard surfaces with no snags and we are so happy with all the added features.

These are suitcases we’ll be fighting over who gets to use!
