Here you go, now you should be all set for your next trip to Dominican Republic.
It’s not hard to find a romantic resort in Punta Cana. But about 45 minutes north of the airport in a secluded and quiet resort area, Excellence Punta Cana is especially great for couples on a getaway.
Accommodations include bungalow plantation-style rooms outfitted with high-end amenities; you can choose one with a jacuzzi on the ocean-view terrace or one in the Excellence Club for an extra-special romantic occasion.
The sparkling swimming pools are lined with palapas and loungers, while the white-sand beach is lined with palm trees. Complimenting the adults-only atmosphere are things like spa treatments, horseback riding, diving, and more.
At Excellence Punta Cana, all stays are all-inclusive. You can expect all à-la-carte dining, drinks (including premium alcohol), and room service. Land sports like tennis, volleyball, and horseback riding are also included, as are non-motorized water sports, an introductory pool scuba lesson, and nighttime entertainment.

What to Do
There’s a delicate balance of relaxation and play at Excellence Punta Cana suitable for any preference. Couples interested in the former can easily find a palapa to lay under around one of the four swimming pools or on the beach. The Millé Spa offers relaxation gardens, all-natural treatments, and hydrotherapy, plus more.
On the other hand, you can take advantage of included activities such as pool water aerobics, yoga, archery, and even dance lessons. There’s even a resort mini golf course. Snorkeling gear is also available to grab for exploring the warm Caribbean water.
One of the most special and romantic activities is a horseback ride on the beach. Just minutes away from the resort is much more, including deep-sea fishing and scuba diving.
This resort does a great job of keeping the fun going after dark. Besides the fact that the drinks don’t stop flowing, there is an exceptional live entertainment schedule with all kinds of music and performances. Without turning into a nightclub atmosphere, the resort puts on Vegas-style shows, cabarets, acrobatic performances, fire shows, and even more – so don’t head to bed after sunset!
What to Eat & Drink
Dining options at Excellence Punta Cana include one buffet restaurant, one beach snack grill, eight à-la-carte restaurants, and 12 bars – and all of them are included.
Buffet breakfast is served at The Kitchen Table, as is an international buffet lunch. The Lobster House also serves breakfast and lunch à-la-carte, while guests of the Excellence Club can also choose to start their day at Magna Restaurant.
Don’t miss The Lobster House for dinner either, as this is when the high-end lobster and seafood extravaganza really takes place. Other options include Oregano, an Italian trattoria; The Grill, a steakhouse; and Spice, which has an Asian menu and Teppanyaki tables. The top fine dining experience is at Chez Isabelle, with its elegant French cuisine and atmosphere.
If you simply don’t want to leave the beach, you can grab casual bites or takeaway pizza from Las Olas, the beach bar and grill. That’s not to mention the many other bars scattered around the resort, including swim-up service in the pool, which continues service well into the night. Room Guide
Excellence Punta Cana is renowned for having some of the best suites on the island. There’s a wide range of views, amenities, and inclusions to choose from, including Excellence Club categories, which upgrade many aspects of your stay. Here are some highlights:
Junior Suites: These 550-square-foot rooms come with garden, mountain, or ocean views, as well as furnished terraces to enjoy them from. Plus, a jetted bathtub sits right in front of the door. Swim-Up varieties put you right in front of the pools. The simplistic but modern design of the room is ideal for laid-back luxury.
Suites and Master Suites: Certain categories, like the Suite Ocean View and the Master Suite with Double Beds, don’t add a ton of extra space but rather have the luxuries of living rooms and double balconies. On the other hand, the Imperial Suite totals a whopping 2,000 square feet for those who definitely want a spacious spot for their honeymoon, babymoon, or anniversary.
Private Pool Suites and Junior Suites: There are many variations of rooms with private plunge pools – these are ideal for romance and special occasions. Standard Junior Suites count 800 square feet of space plus a small oasis to cool off and chill out just outside. Terrace Suites and Honeymoon Suites offer even more space plus stunning ocean views, while Rooftop Terrace Suites have the most sweeping vistas. Excellence Club: Some of the standard suites and junior suites, as mentioned, can be booked under this special package, while many more can be booked only with Excellence Club perks – including most of the private pool options. Check-in is private in an exclusive lounge, room amenities are upgraded, and the pool and beach experience is private for these guests; there is also an Excellence Club-only restaurant.
Special Experiences
If you want to add something extra special to your stay at Excellence Punta Cana, consider some of the upgraded accommodation experiences, as they really offer a whole different type of stay. Private pool room varieties make it so you never need to share your space with anyone else, whether it be in gardens near the beach or on a rooftop terrace, while Excellence Club guests get access to exclusive pools, restaurants, and experiences.
In fact, there are special Honeymoon Packages and Anniversary Packages readily available to enhance your stay – and basic versions are totally free, meaning you just have to ask. These include things like welcome treats, a special romantic dinner, free or discounted photo packages, and spa treatments, plus more.
Finally, don’t hesitate to bring your significant other to one of the special activities or entertainment nights, such as Spanish dance lessons or Caribbean music shows. You can even work with the Concierge to arrange something totally custom or ask for special accommodation for them.
