What’s Special About This Resort
The premier adults-only, all-inclusive getaway in Belize is Coco Plum Island Resort, as evidenced by the awards it frequently wins. This is another private island, and it’s located off the southern part of the country’s coast, about 30 minutes from the city of Dangriga by boat.
Just 18 oceanfront cabanas can accommodate no more than 42 guests here at a time, making this a relaxing, exclusive escape. When you aren’t relaxing on the beach or cooling off in the warm, clear water, you can choose from a variety of adventurous activities. This is a spot located among the Belize Barrier Reef, putting unreal snorkeling and diving at your doorstep, along with great fishing.
Coco Plum Island Resort is all-inclusive, starting with your arrival in Belize City. From there, your transfer by air to Dangriga is included, as is your boat transfer to the resort. Three meals a day, unlimited local bar beverages, use of water toys, and even a few snorkeling excursions are all free of charge.
Things we like:

Quiet and exclusive: adults-only, 18 rooms, and 42-guest maximum on the private island
-
All-inclusive from the moment you land in Belize City, including all transportation from there and all meals
-
Complimentary snorkeling excursions for guests staying at least four nights
-
Lots of awesome more premium diving opportunities on the Belize Barrier Reef, as well as fishing, cruising, etc.
-
Lots of space to relax around the private island, including hammocks in the ocean and white-sand beaches with palapas
Things we don't like:
-
The pool isn’t really anything impressive; although its surroundings are stunning
-
Not a ton to do when it rains, so bring a book or games if there’s weather in your forecast
➞ What to Do
You won’t get bored at Coco Plum Island Resort, even if you are on a tiny, remote island. Guests who prefer to relax can do so along the large pool deck surrounded by the azure sea. There are plenty of spots on the sand under palm trees or palapas, and there are even hammocks set up offshore above the water.
Water toys like kayaks, paddle boards, and Hobie Cats are available and free to take out on the water. While you can snorkel straight from the dock, the best reefs and marine life are found just a quick boat ride away near the barrier reef. These trips are frequent.
Divers can go deeper in spots like Shark’s Cave and Glover’s Atoll, which offer some of the best underwater scenery in the world along the Belize Barrier Reef. Fishermen can cast flies for bonefish and permit in the flats just off the island, while species like barracuda, grouper, mackerel, and wahoo can be found further offshore.
The nearby Man-O-War Caye is great for birding. This sanctuary hosts pelicans and frigates that congregate in huge numbers. There’s a whole other world of adventure on the Belize mainland, with cultural tours and jungle activities available to add to your stay that depart right from the island.
➞ What to Eat & Drink
The restaurant at Coco Plum Island Resort is called Coco Palms, and it’s under a central thatched roof over the water, which creates unbelievable views with your meals. This is where guests enjoy all meals, snacking, and drinking unless you make special arrangements or take boxed lunches on an excursion.
The culinary team at Coco Plum starts the day with a breakfast incorporating both international morning dishes and local Belizean favorites. There are mid-morning pastries after that, followed by a light Caribbean lunch based on the catches and imports of the day. If you’re headed off on an excursion, it will be packed away for you.
Of course, drinks are flowing all day, and you’ll get mid-afternoon snacks after lunch. A specially crafted Belizean menu is prepared for dinner, consisting of three courses based on the catches and imports of the day. Guests will be able to choose from around four main courses, and all dietary restrictions and preferences will be adhered to.
➞ Room Guide
There are just 18 oceanfront cabanas at Coco Plum Island Resort. Each has a king-sized bed and direct access to the shore. There are two categories to choose from, one being more premium, plus a single three-bedroom overwater villa.
Standard Cabanas: These rooms are all standalone bungalows offering spacious, suite-like interiors. However, it’s the large oceanfront terrace that will remind you that you’re in paradise, with a hammock and a pair of chairs to enjoy the sea views. Up to two guests can stay in these cabanas.
Premium Cabanas: With quite a bit of extra interior space, up to four guests can stay in these cabanas. That’s thanks to a sofabed along with the king-sized bed; a kitchenette and dining table are extra interior amenities. Of course, you’ll also have that million-dollar view from the terrace’s hammock and seating.
Overwater Villa: The ultimate upgrade for up to six people traveling together is this single three-bedroom, three-bathroom thatched-roof overwater villa. It has nearly 360 degrees of outdoor space to admire the ocean and island views, as well as upgraded furnishings and decor inside.
➞ Special Experiences
Couples celebrating something special at Coco Plum Island Resort, whether it be an anniversary, a honeymoon, or just a special trip, can book a Romance Add-On at the time of making their reservation. You’ll first be greeted with sparkling wine and treats on your arrival and later be treated to a private candlelit dinner rather than at the restaurant.
If your idea of upgrading your trip incorporates a bit more adventure, go with the Belize Jungle Tour Add-On instead of (or along with) the above. This will get you a day of zip lining and cave tubing through the jungle or climbing ancient Mayan temples and learning their fascinating histories. Again, you can add this at the same time as booking your room.
