What’s Special About This Resort
Many Belize resorts are great for families, but we like what Coco Beach Resort has to offer for kids of all ages and their parents as well.
It’s located on a quiet shore of Ambergris Caye to the north of San Pedro, but still easily accessible at about 20 minutes away. Two huge swimming pools offer a waterslide, a volleyball net, and a rock-jumping platform for all-day aquatic fun.
Kayaks and SUP boards provide saltwater entertainment, while on land, there are giant chess and bicycle rentals, including kid’s sizes.
Parents will appreciate large, residential-style suites that can even be provisioned with groceries before arrival; they may also like to have a spa day on-site. Of course, off-property adventures like snorkeling and jungle visits can be arranged for guests of all ages.
There isn’t an all-inclusive package at Coco Beach Resort, nor have we seen any special rates that include meals or credits. Expect to add meals à la carte at the restaurant or to venture out to other places around Ambergris Caye.

➞ What to Do
The seashore at Coco Beach Resort may not be ideal for swimming, as is the case with many Ambergris Caye resorts, but kayaking and stand-up paddling across the azure water is still a blast – and they’re free. On the other hand, swimming is definitely awesome at the resort’s two swimming pools, where the whole family can enjoy a waterslide, volleyball, and a rock-jumping platform.
Games on land include cornhole, giant chess, and table tennis. You can also grab a bike for free to explore the shore or ride to town, and kid’s sizes are available. However, children usually get a bigger kick out of a golf cart rental – one of the premier transportation methods around the island – to explore outside the resort with their parents.
The guest services team can arrange all kinds of excursions, including snorkeling and diving along the Belize Barrier Reef, just half a mile offshore. The same goes for sport fishing, sailsports, and even mainland tours of Mayan ruins and natural jungle wonders.
➞ What to Eat & Drink
There are two restaurants at Coco Beach Resort, which are somewhat connected but offer two different atmospheres. The main one is Cocoblanca Pool Bar, the most casual option with indoor-outdoor dining, poolside service, and takeout. It serves an à la carte breakfast, lunch, and dinner menu consisting of Belizean, American, and Latin American favorites. Drinks are available from the swim-up bar.
Its more upscale counterpart, Cocoblanca Restaurant, is only open for dinner. The menu offers similar cuisine but is more fine dining in nature, although you can still expect a resort casual atmosphere. Seating is indoor only, and takeout is not available from here.
One simple alternative is next door at Belizean Shores Resort, Coco Beach’s sister resort. There, you can find coffee, pastries, pies, and simple breakfast items to-go at Sol Café, which is about a five-minute walk away. There’s a casual seafood shack across the street and, of course, much more dining closer to San Pedro.
➞ Room Guide
There are many different types of rooms at Coco Beach Resort suitable for couples, small families, or large groups. They may overlook the pool or have sea views, but it’s better to choose your room based on how much space you need, as that is the main differentiator here.
Luxury Hotel Rooms: These larger-than-average standard rooms come with one king bed plus a sofa bed, allowing up to two adults and one child to stay. There’s a balcony overlooking the swimming pools.
Luxury Honeymoon Casitas: These are an upgrade worth considering, as the bungalow-style units add a ton of extra space. That includes a full kitchen, a living area, and a dining area, along with a spacious terrace. The same bedding arrangements as above can accommodate the same number of people.
Pool View Villas & Seaview Suites: The actual accommodations of Villas and Suites are quite similar, and it’s just the pool and sea views that differentiate them. Groups that need more space benefit from full living rooms, very large kitchens, and more dining space, along with one or two separate bedrooms.
➞ Special Experiences
Guests who want a stand-out dining experience at Coco Beach Resort can arrange a private dinner table on the beach or poolside. Birthday cakes, flower arrangements, gift baskets, and other touches can be customized as well, whether delivered to the table or your room.
Other experiences can be made private as well. Rather than taking group tours, you can enjoy the majesty of sights like the Blue Hole and offshore cayes on a private charter boat, or even a chartered aircraft. Jungle excursions on the mainland can also be made private.
