What to Do

Your romantic getaway doesn’t stop at lounging by the pool or enjoying spa treatments – although those are indeed some of the best ways to spend your time at Bungalows Key Largo. There’s a long list of activities that the resort offers or can arrange for you, and being on one of the most famous islands of the Keys, there’s a ton to see and explore further afield.

Watersports like kayaking and paddleboarding are included in your all-inclusive stay, and don’t miss the chance to take advantage of the beautiful sea at the doorstep of the resort. To go even further, there are daily boat excursions and sunset cruises, including some to nearby Everglades National Park. Going out on one of the resort’s Floating Tiki Boats is a top choice and one of the most fun ways to enjoy drinks on the water.

The diving and snorkeling sites here are some of the best in the country, and both are available on charter or with groups. Reef, wreck, drift, and night diving are all possible around Key Largo. If you’ve never tried diving, introductory courses can be arranged.

Fishing is also one of the most popular things to do in this area, and there are a number of options available. Inshore reef fishing can yield large grouper, snapper, hogfish, barracuda, and more, while offshore excursions can find marlin, sailfish, tuna, and mahi mahi year-round. To do like the locals do, take a backcountry fishing tour in the Everglades, Biscayne Bay, or local mangroves, and try your hand with a fly.

If you’re coming in by car, don’t miss the chance to drive into Everglades National Park, as it’s less than an hour away. John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park is just minutes from the resort and offers the chance to see some of the most colorful and vibrant reefs in America from clear-bottom kayaks or stand-up paddleboards.

What to Eat & Drink

A wide variety of food and drink awaits at Bungalows Key Largo, with six bars and restaurants plus a poolside snacking menu, as well as in-room dining – the latter is not included in the all-inclusive package.

Your day starts at the Fish Tales restaurant, a casual, open-air eatery with views of the beach where breakfast is served. The buffet is extensive, with specialties from around the world. Service continues all day, transforming into an à-la-carte Mediterranean kitchen for lunch and dinner.

Lunch can also be enjoyed at Sea Señor, a casual tiki bar on the beach offering Mexican favorites with a Florida Keys twist, as well as plenty of addictive cocktails. Sea Señor is also open for dinner. Another casual beachside option for all-day dining is the Sunset Tiki Bar, with its classic American and local cuisine.

For a fine-dining experience, Bogie & Bacall’s is an elegant, steakhouse-style restaurant option that’s included in all-inclusive stays of at least four nights, or an optional upgrade for shorter stays. It’s adjacent to the Hemingway Bar, your place for pre-dinner cocktails in “Old Key West” style. Collectively, they are one of the most popular evening experiences at the resort.

Room Guide

Every room at Bungalows Key Largo is an individual bungalow, adding to the romance and privacy of the whole experience. Your choice comes down to whether you want to be waterfront or in the gardens.

Garden Bungalows: These consist of around 900 square feet of indoor-outdoor luxury, coming with a choice of one king bed with a queen sofa sleeper or two queens. Up to four guests can enjoy the sleek, modern furnishings, which include Adirondack chairs on the terrace to enjoy the peace of the gardens. An outdoor soaking tub and shower complete the tranquility of the space.

Waterfront Bungalows: Like their garden counterparts, these bungalows have 900 square feet of indoor-outdoor living space, but only come with a king bed with a queen sofa sleeper. Rather than being tucked in the gardens, these bungalows are steps from the sand, enjoying views of the water and palm trees. You can catch a watercolor sunset show over the water from your outdoor soaking tub or your terrace’s Adirondack chairs.

Special Experiences

There’s little that isn’t special at Bungalows Key Largo. But a few activities in particular can set your stay apart from anything else.

Being so tranquil and relaxing, this is a great place to do some yoga, and experts lead courses daily on the resort’s beaches and in its gardens. Varying from calm poses to challenging stretches, you can see what’s on the menu each day of your stay, and reserve a spot with the concierge. These classes can also be private for a personal experience.

There are usually special events planned at the resort, whether it be afternoon or evening live music, DJ nights, or special events for holidays like Fourth of July or Halloween. Even more take place around the island throughout the year. A helpful events calendar on the resort’s website can show you what’s going on during your trip.

One of the most special things you can do in this part of America is to admire its beautiful wildlife, like the gentle, endangered manatee. The kayaks included in your stay can be used to explore the waters that they play in, giving you a chance to see them up close. For a guaranteed wildlife encounter, swimming with the dolphins at a nearby conservation center’s pools is available just five minutes down the road.
