What’s Special About This Resort
If you want to enjoy the surf, nature, and other Pura Vida aspects of Costa Rica but can’t justify paying some of the rates of other Costa Rica all-inclusive resorts, the Best Western Jacó Beach is a solution that won’t leave you compromising on too much.
This resort offers reasonably-priced, all-inclusive stays on another one of the country’s most famous stretches of shore – Playa Jacó. Steps away from the dark sand, blue water, and rolling waves are the resort’s totally unlimited dining and drinking, sparkling infinity pool, and children’s splash pad.
A few more steps down Pastor Diaz Avenue is the quaint but lively town center lined with surf shops and local restaurants. Access to the adventure parks and pristine jungle of the Puntarenas Province is just as easy.
All guests of the Best Western Jacó Beach enjoy a truly all-inclusive stay. Unlimited dining is available until 9:30pm and unlimited drinking until 1:00am, all with no restrictions.
Things we like:
-
Recent and ongoing renovations, including a brand-new beachfront infinity pool
-
Kids splash pad, volleyball, and other games, both indoor and outdoor
-
Direct access to famous Jacó Beach and just a short walk from downtown
-
Besides hours of operation, no restrictions on dining and drinking within the all-inclusive package
-
Plenty of water and land activities easy to access from this resort
Things we don't like:
-
No elevators in the resort, and your room may be up to three floors up
-
Guest rooms are notably more plain and simple than more premium all-inclusive resorts, but still comfortable enough
➞ What to Do
Jacó is another Costa Rica destination for surfing, and the Best Western is a great place to stay however you want to enjoy the sport. There is an abundance of surf schools ready to provide lessons or shops to rent a board. The sand is just steps away, and the waves are there all year round.
Jacó Beach isn’t ideal for swimming, though, because of the waves and surfers. Luckily, the Best Western has several swimming pools, including a brand new infinity pool at the edge of the beach. But the long stretch of shoreline is great for walking, watching surfers, and enjoying the sunset.
A child-friendly splash pad is also on property, along with a playground, volleyball, and more games. Popular trips outside Jacó include Carara National Park, home to unique birds and diverse wildlife, and Manuel Antonio National Park, a tropical forest with white-sand beaches.
➞ What to Eat & Drink
There is just one true restaurant, one snack bar-lounge, and one lobby bar at the Best Western Jacó Beach. You can enjoy as many meals and drinks as you want during opening hours, and if you’re craving something different, there are a ton of budget-friendly local restaurants in downtown Jacó as well.
El Puerto is the main restaurant that serves buffet-style meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It overlooks the main pool and gardens and offers everything from local Costa Rican favorites to international specialties. Reservations are required
El Muelle Bar is an alternative option for snacking throughout the afternoon and early evening, transforming into a bar at dinner time that stays open late-night; the latest hours see this place turn into more of a club-like atmosphere. The final option is the Lobby Bar, where more drinks are served up along with shaved ice treats.
➞ Room Guide
There are just 125 rooms at the Best Western Jacó Beach, making this one of the smaller resorts on our list. There are just a few different room categories as well, with no premium options. You will definitely notice a much more basic guest room experience here, so don’t focus too much on your room type, as it should really just be your place to return to at the end of each day.
Garden View: Interestingly, you won’t find a room with just one bed here – options include one king and one single, one double and one single, or two doubles. They have a small balcony or ground-floor terrace, air conditioning, and the basics that you need for clean and comfortable nights.
Superior: The only thing that makes these rooms different is the view of the pool rather than the gardens. Again, only two-bed options are available.
➞ Special Experiences
To make your stay at the Best Western Jacó Beach extra-special, it’s probably best to look off-property. While there are add-ons at the resort, like photographers for hire, evening shows and performances, and the disco club, there’s much more in the way of uniqueness in the region around Jacó.
Just 10 minutes up into the mountains, you can be ziplining over waterfalls with the ocean in the distance. Take a quick drive north to the Crocodile Bridge to gaze down at the relaxing reptiles in the river below. Tours in Carara National Park can get you even closer to these giants, plus reveal amazing hiking trails in the rainforest.
