What’s Special About This Resort

No list of amazing resorts in the Bahamas would be complete without Atlantis Paradise Island. This mega-resort is not really just one – five hotels and 40 restaurants are included in the massive oceanfront portion of Paradise Island that Atlantis occupies. They range in atmosphere from lively and playful to relaxed and luxurious, leaving something for everyone.

The whole resort is centered around the 154-acre Aquaventure waterpark, plus a golf course, casino, dolphin rescue center, and marina. It’s no wonder this playground on Paradise Island consistently finds its way to the top of Bahamas travelers’ bucket lists.

Atlantis Paradise Island Bahamas is not an all-inclusive resort. However, you can frequently find rate packages that make staying here easier and cheaper: flight and hotel packages, dining and experience credits, and activity inclusions are a few popular ones.

➞ What to Do

It’s probably better that you think about what not to do at Atlantis Paradise Island. There is a ton to experience within the resort itself. Much of it centers around Aquaventure, the massive sea-themed waterpark in the center of it all.

There, you can ride thrilling water slides, soak under waterfalls, or float down the lazy river. There are 11 swimming pools for simpler relaxation, and they, plus all of the waterpark activities, are totally free for hotel guests. You can even reserve a private cabana to ensure you have a little spot all to yourself.

You can turn to the sea at one of the many sandy beaches around Atlantis or simply visit Dolphin Cay. This is a marine conservation center where dolphins, sea lion pups, turtles, rays, sharks, and all kinds of other animals live and are cared for by experts. Experiences include swimming, kayaking, and paddle boarding with these creatures or working with a caretaker for a few hours to care for them.

There’s a beautiful 7,100-yard golf course on the other side of Paradise Island that’s part of the resort as well. On the property, you’ll find the premier casino of the Bahamas, a nightclub, a comedy club, and even a teen’s club. The most relaxing place to be in Atlantis is the Mandara Spa.

With so much to see and do at the resort, don’t forget that there’s a whole world of activities outside of Paradise Island, like water excursions and outer cay visits. Plan your Atlantis stay knowing that these are options as well!

➞ What to Eat & Drink

There are 40 restaurants at the Atlantis Paradise Island resort – that has to be some kind of record. Obviously, we aren’t going to list them all. But there are a few highlights worth pointing out.

The best places for breakfast include Poseidon’s Table, with its extensive buffet, and Fish by José Andrés, serving à-la-carte morning favorites. You can also try breakfast at the Ocean House Clubhouse, the golf course’s restaurant. A number of Starbucks cafés can be found around the expansive property.

There are many pool bar and grill-style restaurants to enjoy lunch at, including Breakwater’s Grill, the Riverbend Café, Shark Bites, and Triton’s Snack Bar. Specialty lunch restaurants include Pita and Silan by Alon Shaya, both Mediterranean kitchens, the latter specializing in Israeli cuisine. The Marina Pizzeria is the perfect place to take away a tasty, familiar favorite.

Definitely return to Fish by José Andrés for dinner, as the upscale Bahamian seafood here is one of the resort’s signature dining experiences. There’s also Paranza for fine Italian cuisine, Seafire Steakhouse for grilled flavors, and Nobu for high-end sushi, plus many more.

We’ve only covered some of the stand-outs – head to the Atlantis dining page to see the full list, where you can also add filters to simplify.

➞ Room Guide

Atlantis Paradise Island has five hotels within the resort for a total of more than 3,800 rooms. That’s a lot of options to sort through. Rather than breaking down the categories, we’ll talk about each of the hotel experiences, which should definitely help you narrow down the one you like.

The Royal: This is the iconic, original accommodation at Atlantis – the twin towers and their adjoining wings that you see in photos. They’re in the center of the property, making access to all of the amenities easy. Standard rooms are about 400 square feet in size and have views of the harbor, terrace, and sea; there is also a robust offering of much larger suites, including the 4700-square-foot Bridge Suite in the most unique location of all.

The Cove: This is the resort’s more luxurious, low-key option geared towards couples looking for a romantic escape. It even has an adults-only pool, butler services, and a club lounge. However, it’s also appropriate for family vacations if everyone’s in search of something more tranquil.

The Reef: These residences are homes-away-from-home for experienced travelers. They range in size from Studio to Three-Bedroom and are equipped with the luxuries of a house. Guests also get access to a private beach and a private pool.

The Coral: This hotel has both standard rooms and suites that are made with families in mind. The Crush teens-only nightclub and the Sun & Ice ice cream parlor are located here for the younger guests, while a swim-up bar and large cabanas suit the older generations that brought them along.

Harborside Resort: These Bahamian residences are located beside the marina, secluded and separated from the hustle and bustle of the rest of Atlantis. The atmosphere is a bit quieter, and accommodations come with amenities like kitchens and laundry. The villas still have access to all the fun, and nothing is truly that far away.

➞ Special Experiences

If you’re looking for something extra special at Atlantis Paradise Island, look to the Marine Exhibits that take the ocean theme to the next level. This is an aquarium that isn’t just made for looking through glass.

You can swim above colorful fish and reefs in the Ruins Lagoon, which is also dotted with sculptures and artifacts inspired by the lost land itself. The Dig is another tank where even more exotic sea creatures live, such as lionfish, seahorses, clownfish, jellyfish, moray eels, and more. The Predator Lagoon & Tunnel is one of the most amazing of all – a 100-foot glass tunnel through a habitat for sharks, barracudas, and sawfish.

There is a ton of evening entertainment for post-sunset enjoyment as well. Hit the casino to play games, the Aura Nightclub to party, or the Jokers Wild Comedy Club to laugh. Younger guests aren’t left out – they have the Crush Teen Nightclub.
