Heated Socks for Sport & Comfort
The SNOW DEER Heated Socks have several noteworthy features, making them a useful weapon against cold conditions. Whether you’re skiing down slopes, hiking through snowy landscapes, hunting in sub-zero temperatures, or simply braving the snow on your commute to work, these socks provide a reliable source of warmth for hours on end.
We were pleased to find that the socks generate heat on both the top and on the bottom of the toe area, providing more complete heat, comfort and protection against the cold. Not all of the heated socks on our list offer the same coverage, so this feature definitely helps to add some value and soften the sticker shock of these $80 socks.
Powered by rechargeable 7.4V 2200mAh batteries, these heated socks heat for up to 7 hours. The SNOW DEER Heated Socks feature 3 heat settings for personalized comfort at the touch of a button. For how functional these socks are, they are also surprisingly comfortable, with a soft and moderately thick material, providing warmth, comfort and durability.
Don’t ask us how, but by some miracle of modern science these socks are machine washable. That being said, for $80 on Amazon, you’ll want to be extra careful not to lose one of them in the wash. To get the most life out of this product, we recommend investing in a mesh garment bag for machine washing.
And a word to the wise: they will not survive the dryer. In fact, we advise against machine washing them too.
Quality
The SNOW DEER Heated Socks offer exceptional quality, featuring a surprisingly soft fabric that mimics the premium feel of compression or quality athletic socks. The material used in the socks is 55% CoolMax, 25% elastic, and 20% spandex, all contributing to the socks’ comfort and snug fit.
The fabric also gives us the impression of durability, which is echoed by a number of customer reviews who have claimed to have had and used this product for years and counting.
We aren’t too impressed with the battery pocket, as it’s a pain to fumble with the pocket folds with cold fingers. We tend to prefer the simple battery pocket designs of the Rabbitroom Insulated Heated Socks or the Trazon Rechargeable Heated Socks. While the socks have an overall high quality feel to them, we think the appearance looks a bit on the cheap end.
Surprisingly Soft Material Comfort
The material used feels high quality – thick enough to provide comfort and insulation but not so thick that they are uncomfortable in boots. The SNOW DEER Heated Sock material is notably soft while still providing a reasonable degree of durability. The socks also provide an excellent elastic squeeze, comparable to an athletic or compression sock.
In our experience, these socks fit true to size and kept our toes nice and toasty.
While we found the material to be very soft and non abrasive, the sock’s fit feels a bit tight. This sentiment is echoed in a number of customer reviews, with some buyers claiming the top elastic runs small and that the base of the sock doesn’t fit quite right.
While we found these to be legitimate claims, ultimately, we didn’t think it was significant enough to detract from the overall functionality or comfort of the garment.
Performance
The SNOW DEER Heated Socks are notably high performing with three heat settings, providing a range of temperatures to suit various needs and preferences. The highest setting reaches up to 140℉, so we found the most comfortable to start with this setting and adjust it down as necessary when the socks heat up.
The user-friendly design really sets this product apart, featuring an exterior button for adjusting settings and turning the socks on and off. We love that you don’t have to dig out the battery to make adjustments, and most times you can simply hit the button on the exterior through your clothing.
This ability to adjust the temperature through outerwear adds an extra layer of practicality, allowing us to fine-tune our comfort without removing layers or much hassle at all.
Charging the socks takes approximately 4 hours, and once charged, they can run for up to 7 hours on low heat, 5 hours on medium, and 2 hours on high. These run times are fairly standard and should give you enough heating time to keep your feet warm on a day hike, a couple hours in the snow or a cozy day spent at home. If you’re looking for something with a little more longevity for extended use, we might recommend a different pair like perhaps the Dr. Warm Wireless Heated Socks.
A Higher Price Tag=Quality
While these socks offer excellent value for your money, it is still quite difficult to justify buying $80 socks when more affordable options are available. That said, if you have the budget and you are uncompromising on quality, we think the SNOW DEER heated socks are an excellent pick that are sure to last for winters to come.
Your Newest Winter Wardrobe Staple
Whether for outdoor activities or staying cozy at home, the high quality feel, performance and ultimate convenience of the SNOW DEER Heated Socks make them a standout on our list this year in terms of comfort and durability. While these socks may be on the high end of our budget, we see the value and can understand a bit of a luxury price point. If it’s in the budget for you, we would definitely recommend this product for anyone trying to stay warm this winter.
