The shredding capability of the Coronado hybrid soft-top surfboard is undeniably good; no rider will be limited by its design. No other soft-top on the market compares to the flow and rip-ability of the ISLE surfboard. Surfboard Construction & Materials

The ISLE Coronado surfboard is made with a unique PowerFuse™ hybrid soft-top construction. PowerFuse™ is an innovative process of constructing a surfboard invented by ISLE. They seal 4 different materials with Epoxy to make an uber-durable surfboard.

The heavy-duty PowerFuse™ method of construction consists of taking the entire layup of Epoxy and all the materials and fusing them together in one shot with a high-powered vacuum bag. Using the heat and pressure of the vacuum bag, it sucks out all the extra Epoxy to make it even lighter and more durable. This construction method creates a high-quality product in every go.

The EPS core on the ISLE soft top is lightweight, stiff, and buoyant. The performance of the core is responsive and lively. Regardless of your level, it performs well, especially in smaller swells.

The Coronado soft top surfboard has a 4mm Ethylene Vinyl Acetate (EVA) croc-skin deck. This deck is close-celled, shock-absorbing, durable and cushioning. It also has the unique property of good grip in water, so there is no need for surf wax.

ISLE uses a 1.3mm Polycarbonate slick for the bottom of the surfboard. This slick is tough and can take a lot of beating. The Coronado is prepared to take gnarly drops in shallow waters (or handle rough transportation) thanks to the polycarbonate slick.

Surfboard Design

A low-entry nose rocker is found on the Isle Coronado soft top surfboard. This is the perfect amount of rocker for a beginner to thrive on and an advanced rider not to be slowed down. By choosing a low-entry rocker, ISLE strives to make this board versatile concerning speed and maneuverability in all wave conditions.

The Isle Coronado features a tail rocker to enhance the surfboard’s turning capabilities. The tail rocker transitions this board from a simple soft top to a ripping machine. Making cutbacks on this board is no problem.

The Coronado soft top has a squashed tail shape. The squash tail shape is a mix between a round tail and a square tail; it is one of the most popular tail shapes for performance in all conditions. The squash tail gives the benefit of stability and maneuverability while surfing.

The nose shape of the Coronado is rounded. A rounded nose shape helps with buoyancy and paddle speed. It also makes standing up easier due to the shape and lift; riding hang ten on the Coronado is achievable.

All sizes of the Coronado’s rails are 3 inches. The rails are characterized as soft rails; soft rails are round and forgiving. It is much less likely to catch an edge with these rails, but they lose some performance in bigger, faster surf.

The PowerFuse™ 10in U.S. standard center fin box of the Coronado is locked in place with a special powerful resin.  A 2+1 fin setup is available on all models, and the side fins use grub screws that are included. Fins are included with the purchase of this Coronado foam board.

Additional Features & Specs

Something exceptional about the ISLE Coronado surfboard is the deck is wax-free. ISLE uses an EVA croc deck that maintains its grip in the water. Few surfboards on the market feature a waxless deck design, let alone work well, but the Coronado soft top hits its target.

Excitingly, nylon fins are included with the Coronado soft top surfboard. The 7’6” size comes with a 7in center fin, and the 8’ and 9’ sizes come with an 8in center fin. All the surfboards come with two side fins to make it a 2+1 fin setup; this setup increases hold and performance in better surf conditions.

The Coronado soft top surfboard features two fiberglass stringers in the EPS core. The stringers add immense durability while maintaining a gratifying flex pattern. Not all surfboards come with stringers, especially foamies; this feature ups Coronado’s game tremendously.

There are no tail or nose guards, which can be an excellent addition to a beginner board. However, guards create drag and add weight. Plus, this foam surfboard is already super durable.

The Isle surfboard does not come with a leash but has a built-in leash attachment. Most surfboards do not come with a leash. Make sure to buy a high-quality leash about the same size as your surfboard, like a Dakine, FCS, or Abahub leash.

Quality Evaluation

When unboxing this product, the quality surprised us for a soft top surfboard. The PowerFuse™ construction of the product elevates it above all other soft tops. ISLE fuses 4 different strong materials with Epoxy to make this ripper of a board.

The EVA croc deck feels superlative to the touch. The deck covers the rails and encompasses the slick in a way only the PowerFuse technology can mold. The surfboard is constructed so precisely.

Each corner, seal, and edge is seamless. All of the materials are chosen for their longevity and performance. The ISLE Coronado hybrid soft top surfboard has to be one of the highest quality foam surfboards on the market.

Great Value for the Price

Spending around $400 on a high-performing surfboard is a steal. The ISLE Coronado soft top performs like a classic longboard with a mix of new school talent. The Coronado is priced similarly to other soft tops but stands head and shoulders above them.

If you are a beginner rider and feel the $400 is too steep for an entry board, it is necessary to understand the overall performance this board can offer for a lifetime. Outgrowing this board is not a thing, as Rob Machado dropped in at The Wedge on this bad boy. Spending a couple hundred more on the Coronado versus the Costco WaveStorm soft top is worth it in the long run.
