We tested these flip flops while fishing, hiking, and dawdling downtown. We were impressed with their adaptability and performance, but a few things also caught our eye in a negative light. Read on!

What it’s Like to Wear These Astral Flip Flops

First, let’s talk about the bad. But, the good does outweigh the bad.

When you put these flip-flops on, you will notice the tread on the footbed that lines the toes. Astral did this to reduce foot slippage, but I found it slightly annoying because the 3D line never seemed to be in the right place except when standing still.

Second, we noticed that if you are prone to sweaty feet, these flip flops stay wet. The footbed is super waterproof, so it won’t absorb your foot sweat. Sandals like the Teva Mush II Women’s flip flop don’t make your feet feel like they’re sliding around if you are sweating.

Another slightly negative observation is that while walking around in the “relaxed mode,” the flip flops weight seems a bit off balance compared to the thin toe strap. Other flip flops, like the Havaianas Havaianas Men’s Brazil Logo, are much lighter in comparison but not as versatile.

Now for the good.

Scrambling to the top of the mountain will be no issue with the Astral Rosa and Filipe flip flops when the Super Strap™ is activated. Turn these casual flip flops into fully functioning strapped sandals in minutes. When the Super Strap™ is used, these sandals feel like you can sprint up anything.

The strap material is made from synthetic leather. The strap is waterproof, detailed beautifully, and durable.

The midsole material is made from Ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA) foam. EVA foam is a light, shock-absorbing, water-resistant, and stress-cracking rubber that aids in hikes by making the experience more comfortable.

As someone who enjoys good flip flops, these got me buzzing. I am always up for a lazy walk through town, and the Rosa flip flops gave me a great tempo. But I also wore them fishing and hiking and found I absolutely loved them when the Super Strap™ was engaged.

If you want something that can give you versatility in movement, the Rosa and Filipe flip flops supply just that. They are waterproof, grippy, and durable.

Critiquing these flip flops is difficult. But we looked deep and noticed the weight compared to the strap, how sweaty feet can slide around, and the toe pattern on the footbed, which was annoying sometimes. However, the pros do outweigh any cons the Astral flip flops have.
