Viva Fortuna Wyndham Beach Resort: Visit in 2025

Just a stone’s throw from Grand Bahama’s Freeport and its international airport, Viva Fortuna Wyndham Beach Resort is a little pocket of Caribbean paradise. Part of the Wyndham establishment, this resort has all the class of a grand hotel, without losing its island charm.

Adventure forms a large part of Viva Fortuna’s identity, and their on-site Reef Oasis Dive Club means guests can dive with tiger sharks or let the little ones try scuba diving in the pool. Beyond the resort, Lucayan National Park is the gem of Grand Bahama. Characterized by dense forests and underwater caves, it offers visitors a glimpse into a land before time.

When you want to lounge on a sunbed sipping on margaritas, Viva Fortuna has a spa and all-inclusive drinks. To end the day, guests can choose from four eateries, deciding between a gourmet buffet or one of three specialty dinner restaurants.

The packages vary between diving courses or dive trips. So whether you’re a first-timer or a keen scuba diver, Reef Oasis Dive Club, and Viva Fortuna can accommodate you and your needs.

With over 20 years of expertise, Michael the manager, and his international team of dive professionals are always on hand to help. Reef Oasis Dive Club offers a range of courses, including PADI Bubblemaker, a three-hour course that allows children to try scuba within the resort pool. Already certified divers can rent as much gear as they need and will be pleased to know that most dives are just a quick boat ride away, including the adrenaline-pumping Tiger Beach.

Activities within the resort

There is always something to do, whether it’s dancing, a try dive in the pool, or having a go on the trapeze course.

Viva Fortuna Wyndham Beach Resort isn’t just an all-inclusive resort when it comes to food and drink, as the daily program includes a range of activities and events.

For the young ones, there is a kid’s club with a small playground. Here they play board games, do some painting, and for the more courageous, Viva’s trapeze course. And if guests need it, there are babysitting services for an additional fee.

The Kid’s Club is a fun place for your children to play games and socialize.

For those too old for the slides, there is table tennis, foosball, tennis courts, and beach volleyball, along with free group lessons on kayaking, windsurfing, and sailing. So no matter how your family likes to have fun, Viva Fortuna’ will keep your children, big or small, entertained all day long.

But don’t worry, the kids get all the fun. There are cooking and cocktail-making classes, Zumba, and yoga sessions for the adults. There is an onsite spa with treatments such as massages and facials, which come at an extra cost.

Once the sun sets, Viva Fortuna makes sure the fun doesn’t stop. There are nightly entertainment shows such as musical productions, trapeze shows, live music, and game night… The list goes on!

Getting out of the resort

Guests who choose to have a day outside the resort will find an abundance of fun and interesting activities awaiting them. To stretch their legs or breathe in some fresh sea air, there is Freeport, Lucayan National Park, Peterson Cay National Park, and a handful of golf courses.

Lucayan National Park exhibits all of the Bahamian vegetative zones, including prehistoric pine forests, mangrove creeks, and one of the world’s largest underwater cave systems. Although swimming is prohibited, with a permitted dive school, cave divers can venture inside. Gold Rock Beach is part of this park, which is often hailed as one of the top beaches in the Caribbean.

Something perhaps different for the family is the opportunity to swim with pigs. Taking inspiration from the original Pig Beach on Big Major Cay in Exuma, visitors are given sticks with fruit to entice the pigs into the water. The pigs themselves are relatively friendly and gentle, but since they are used to being fed, they might “bite” your hand thinking you have something to offer.

With a rich marine environment and spectacular reefs, snorkeling is a great way to experience the Grand Bahamas. Day-trippers are encouraged to visit Peterson Cay National Park, a small island about 20 minutes boat ride from the resort. Snorkellers can see colorful reef fish, barracudas, and turtles. If you cross your fingers, perhaps some dolphins will cruise past.

With their Dive & Stay combos and all-inclusive packages, Viva Fortuna Wyndham Beach Resort and the resident Reef Oasis Dive Club offer the perfect combo of adventure and relaxation in Grand Bahama.
