Fiji is filled with private islands. Not surprisingly, most of these private islands have world-class beaches. But perhaps no private island has a more idyllic and pronounced beach-lined bay than Horseshoe Bay on Matangi Island.
Matangi Island is a narrow strip of paradise, and Horseshoe Bay is a perfect semicircle lined with white sand that is so perfect it looks almost manmade. Located on the island’s untouched western coast, Horseshoe Bay is often considered one of the best spots to visit in Fiji and one of the top beaches in the entire world.
Horseshoe Bay is a great place to catch an unforgettable sunset or even stargazing if you are spending the night at the island’s resort. The island also features some lush tropical jungle just off the stunning beach and is great for shade and a bit of exploration. There is an incredible resort on this island, but it is far enough away from Horseshoe Bay that it does not spoil the remote, secluded nature of this beach.
Things we like:
-
The beach is one of the most incredible sites in all of Fiji
-
A great place to swim, snorkel, and have a picnic on a day trip
-
The resort has great services and allows the opportunity to enjoy this beach for longer
Things we don't like:
-
You won’t want to leave, but the resort isn’t cheap
-
Other than the pricey resort, there is almost nothing else on the island
-
Some day tours stop here too briefly, you want to spend many hours here
