Where to buy ActionHeat Heated Socks:
actionheat-heated-socks-product-image

ActionHeat heated socks have proven popular because of their price and their general specs.

Powered by AA batteries, the socks promise 130°F. But that’s both somewhat doubtful and will lead to much shorter battery life. They have an on/off switch and seem to have a relatively stable temperature setting.

What they can do is stave off the bitter cold, allowing you to stay in winter settings for a around 3 hours. That makes these interesting for all sorts of activities from late-season football games to ice-fishing.

Easy to wash and care for, ActionHeat heated socks are a good pair of socks to try if you’re new to heated socks. Wash them by hand, line dry them, and you’ll be able to wear them for quite some time.

The socks themselves feel like mid-range ski socks in many ways. Our tester has a shoe size of 12, testing the ActionHeat L/XL model. They’re easy to put on and the wires don’t stick out at you in the process.

Speaking of the wires, they run the length of the sock along the outside of the calf to the little toe, then across to the the big toe where it ends. Even with a boot on it doesn’t feel too uncomfortable, and probably won’t irritate with ski or snowboarding boots on.

The plastic battery pack that connects to the line sticking out of the socks feels pretty cheap. But, when 3 AAAs are inserted, the light on them turns red and they deliver power to the socks.

The pocket for the battery pack also sits high enough on the side of the calves to allow for hiking boots as well as most ski boots.

Although you don’t necessarily need heated socks, you’ll wonder what you were doing without them once you get a hold of them. This winter- and cold weather-friendly accessory is game-changing for those struggling with cold feet. Even if you have 100% wool socks in your collection, they still won’t generate any warmth on their own.

ActionHeat heated socks offer some compelling advantages: they are lightweight, durable, and come in more sizes than a lot of alternatives. You need socks that fit. Otherwise, it’s unwise to bother with them. ActionHeat has at least more to offer a broader segment.

Similar to Snow Deer Heated Socks and Wolf Rechargeable Heated Socks, ActionHeat heated socks use a heating element to provide warmth and comfort. They might not have the additional padding on the heel and toes that the former pair has. They offer a modicum of compression support though, which is nice.

But this doesn’t take away from the characteristics like longer battery life and integrated heating panels that make them just as appealing.

If comfort and durability are your top priorities when looking for a pair of heated socks, these ActionHeat ones are worth giving a shot.

Construction and Design

ActionHeat Heated Socks have a small pocket for the batteries.
ActionHeat Heated Socks have a small pocket for the batteries.

The blend of Cotton, Spandex, and Wool makes the socks some of the most sturdy on the market. That blend offers an anti-wicking, anti-bacterial and elastic experience. Paired with the advanced ActionWave heat-reflective and FAR infrared heating technology, they offer some warming effects even without the battery power.

When testing them, we paid special attention to their design. Since the socks come with a pocket for batteries (not included with the purchase), they had to feel comfortable around the ankles and calves. Thankfully, they fit our tester quite well. Designed with integrated heating panels that help with dissipating the heat evenly throughout the socks, ActionHeat heated socks were able to keep our feet snug and cozy up until we took them off.

Although the heating zone is concentrated on top of the toes, we found it kept our whole feet pretty toasty. That said, wearing Renegade hikers from Lowa might’ve played a role here too.

Before purchasing the socks, we read that some people didn’t think the socks were getting warm enough for their liking. We can’t confirm this because our experience was a complete 180. At times, they were even getting a little hotter than anticipated which meant that we could even get away without wearing warm winter shoes.

You’ll need to purchase 2x3 AA batteries to warm up your ActionHeat socks.
You’ll need to purchase 2x3 AA batteries to warm up your ActionHeat socks.

To start using the heated socks, you need to:

  1. Insert 3 AA batteries into each of the two power packs (6 in total);
  2. Attach them to the cords hiding inside each sock pocket accordingly;
  3. Press the red button on the power pack to turn the batteries on.

To prolong the life of your ActionHeat heated socks, avoid machine washing them. Even though the instructions describe how to wash on a gentle cycle, they’ll likely fray and get damaged.

Whatever way you choose, the included washing bag should be used.

Before washing them by hand, disconnect (obviously) the power box and close the wires in the battery pocket using the buttons. Use a mild detergent without any fabric softeners when scrubbing your heated socks. Steer clear from putting them in the dryer, ironing them, or dry cleaning them. Instead, lay them flat to dry before you wear your socks again.

Final Thoughts

We recommend that you get yourself a pair of ActionHeat heated socks if you’re someone struggling with frosty feet during the colder months. Introduce them to your friends or family members and be warm and snug outside no matter how freezing it is.

These socks are made from high-quality materials and have all the features that make it a worthy purchase. Just make sure to buy 6 AA batteries beforehand so you can wear your heated socks straight away when they arrive.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about ActionHeat Heated Socks

Are heated socks worth it?

Although you’d need to take better care of your heated socks when compared to the regular ones, they’re worth the investment if your feet get cold in the winter. Sometimes even the 100% wool socks don’t do you justice, and that’s when socks with a heated technology come in handy.

Should you wear socks under heated socks?

To ensure your feet stay warm all day long when you’re playing with your kids outside, consider putting on a pair of regular socks under the heated ones. If you plan on doing this regularly, you’ll be better off with a pair of heated socks that’s a size larger than your regular size.

Can heated socks be washed?

We recommend you not to wash your heated socks in the washing machine. That said, you can wash them manually with a mild detergent to preserve their structure and functionality. Don’t throw them in the tumble dryer or take them to dry cleaning and let them air dry instead.

What are the best heated socks?

The best heated socks should be comfortable to wear, shouldn’t weigh a lot, and should be made from durable fabric. They should also have a well-functioning heating mechanism that doesn’t expose you to the danger of burning your feet. Here are our favorite heated socks on the market:
