The Outoria newsletter and you?

Imagine the most amazing job in the world: testing and diving in new scuba gear every week.

That’s our life—and we want to share it with you in our newsletter!

  1. We’ll share our reviews, timely scuba news, and inspiring travel stories.
  2. Plus, we give away most of the scuba gear after we’re done testing. Subscribers to our newsletter are always the first to know about our monthly giveaways.

Meet the founders

In 2009, while diving in Bali, brothers Torben and Nicolai Lonne launched the first version of Outoria (named DIVE.in back then).

With an ambition to become the best online scuba resource, they quickly started to recruit experts and experienced scuba instructors.

Over the years, more people joined the team and their combined experience and knowledge grew to include water sports, hiking, outdoor life, boating, and many similar activities.

This has turned Outoria into a huge collection of reviews and guides—all written by people with a passion for the activities!

Who's writing the newsletter

The core Outoria team is responsible for writing and editing the newsletter:

Torben Lonne Outoria
Torben Lonne
Co-Founder | Gear Tester | Content Creator

I’m Torben—co-founder of Outoria and the guy who puts most of the gear through its paces before we ever recommend it.

If you’ve seen one of our deep-dive reviews or YouTube videos, there’s a good chance I was the one hiking with that backpack, sleeping in that tent, or figuring out if that water bottle really doesn’t leak.

Before Outoria, I helped build DIVEIN.com into one of the biggest diving and watersports magazines online. Now I get to take that same testing approach to gear that’s not just for underwater—but for everyday life and travel, too.

I care about making sure our reviews are clear, honest, and based on real use. No fluff, no tech jargon. Just useful info from someone who actually used the gear—and probably got rained on while doing it.

When I’m not writing or filming, you’ll probably find me hiking with my family, planning the next trip, or nerding out over something with zippers and compartments.

Let’s be honest—life’s just better with the right gear.

Nicolai Editor Author Outoria
Nicolai Lonne
Co-Founder | Strategy & Systems | Outdoor Dad

Nicolai’s the guy who keeps things running behind the scenes—and often in the wild. A former Boy Scout leader and father of two boys, he’s spent more than his fair share of weekends under the stars, cooking over campfires, and figuring out how to pack smart (and light) when heading out with kids in tow.

He brings that same practical mindset to Outoria—making sure the content we publish is not just well-organized, but built on real-world use. If it’s gear you’d trust for your own family or a trip into the woods, Nicolai’s probably had a hand in testing it, tweaking it, or making sure it makes sense.

When he’s not deep in spreadsheets or campsite logistics, you’ll find him outdoors—usually with his kids, always with a plan.

Rebecca Strauss
Editor at Outoria.com

Rebecca has been an avid traveler and scuba diver for many years. She began her editorial career by updating travel guides, which took her all over the United States and Caribbean. From there, she did a stint as a managing editor at a Caribbean travel magazine. That, in turn, led her to take the plunge—quite literally—and focus her editorial and writing skills on scuba diving travel and gear exclusively.

She’s worked in both print and online scuba media since 2012, and in that capacity has visited all seven continents—and dived on six of them. From speedy drift dives in Indonesia to leisurely muck dives in Florida, to shark dives in the Galapagos, her favorite dive is always her next.
