2.5 Liters of PacSafe Bag
The PacSafe GO Sling Pack has lockable zippers, a bungee-equipped clip, and a dual-release buckle. This durable pack offers physical protection, and RFID-protected pockets shield personal information from electronic theft.
These features allow you to wear the GO Sling Pack crossbody in front or back without fear of pickpocketers or digital theft.
Like all PacSafe packs, the 2.5-liter Go Sling integrates eXomesh slashguard technology, while recycled polyester underscores PacSafe’s commitment to sustainability.
Alternative options may offer similar features at a lower cost (the Go Sling costs around $65). Still, the combination of innovative security measures and sustainable materials distinguishes the PacSafe sling pack as an ideal choice for those prioritizing peace of mind and environmental responsibility in a sling pack that feels more like a satchel.
Exomesh Slashguard Technology
The main compartment of the GO Sling Pack is made from PacSafe’s eXomesh slashguard technology, which essentially consists of a stainless steel mesh layer within the bag’s fabric. The mesh is lightweight and flexible, so I never felt it took away from the carrying experience.
Having this extra layer of large chainmail also makes the bag slash-proof from thieves and everyday life. Again, offering peace of mind when wearing the GO crossbody slung across one’s back.
Lockable Zippers and Security Clips
If you’ve read any of our other reviews of PacSafe products, then you know that innovative and creative locking mechanisms are their specialty. Since this fanny pack is a much simpler bag than the PacSafe Vibe 150, it only has one lockable zipper.
The lockable zippers are double, so I could open the pack from each end. A security clip at one end passes through a small hole in the zipper, “locking” it shut. The mechanism is quite easy to open, but the clip is on a bungee, so once the zips are locked up, they get pulled under some fabric. I liked this attention to detail, and undoing this lock unnoticed is virtually impossible.
There is also a key clip in the bag. Normally, I am not too fussed about a key clip, but since the bag has just one compartment, I did like that my keys had their own “place.” It meant I could rummage through any items I had stuffed in the pack without accidentally throwing my keys out.
The final security measure on the GO Sling Pack is a dual-release buckle, a standard feature on many of their pieces. In a two-hand operation, I had to press down on a button and squeeze the buckle simultaneously if I wanted to undo it. This allowed me to securely fasten my bag’s strap around things like a restaurant chair or bicycle and know it’s not going anywhere!
RFID-Protected Pocket
The PacSafe GO Sling Pack also includes RFID-protected pockets designed to prevent the electronic theft of personal information. The pockets themselves are reasonable and can fit a slim wallet and a passport.
Wearing the Go crossbody is both comfortable and allows for good access when swing the pack from back to front.
The RFID-blocking technology prevents thieves from using electronic devices to steal personal information from passports or credit cards, a feature perhaps more useful for tourists. That also includes cloning your telephone, in those rare episodes when that might be a problem.
This last precaution might be over the top, but it demonstrates the level of security provided here.
Eco-Friendly Material
There’s a growing awareness around using sustainable materials, and I was pleased to find that PacSafe is stepping up to the challenge. The main compartment of the sling is constructed from recycled polyester, equivalent to 6 plastic water bottles.
The GO Sling Pack rehabilitates plastic waste, primarily bottles, giving them a new life. The recycled polyester is durable and water-resistant, suitable for everyday use and unexpected weather.
PacSafe is a brand with a strong sustainability drive, such as gradually reducing the amount of virgin plastics in its products. Since 2020, 1% of all its online sales have gone directly to Turtle conservation through grants distributed by PacSafe’s Turtle Fund.
Using this sling pack, you’ll feel a sense of pride knowing your bag is from a company that cares just as much about your valuables as this valuable planet. This off-setting of our foot-print is something that we’d like to see in more brands.
Price/Quality Ratio
There’s no doubt this PacSafe GO Sling Pack is a well-designed quality bag with anti-theft technology and eco-friendly material. Although the carrying capacity of this fanny bag is limited, it is anti-theft, which is worth the price tag for that piece of mind for some. However, you’ll be forgiven for thinking that a simple fanny pack such as Herschel Fourteen, which is half the price, is enough.
Do we recommend PacSafe’s GO Sling Pack?
We acknowledge that not all your backpacks or handbags need to be anti-theft. However, having a small sling like the PacSafe GO to carry our valuables or essentials is a smart choice.
We especially recommend the PacSafe GO Sling for backpackers or festival goers—anywhere that’s popular with pickpockets. The PacSafe GO Sling Pack’s lockable zippers allow owners to wear it on their backs without worrying about someone slyly slipping in.
The double press buckle means backpackers can secure it to their bunk bed to feel a little safer in that dodgy hostel.
