Black Friday is just around the corner coming November 24th. Beyond the all the deals you may or may not find for yourself, it’s typically a good chance to jumpstart your Christmas shopping too.

Whether you’re looking for a new gym bag, a rugged backpack, or even a trendy weekender duffle, there’s a sale just for you from coveted brands like Osprey, Patagonia, Nike, and more.

While not all of the deals out there are worth the hype, there are certainly some worth checking out. We’ve curated some suggestions to avoid getting spammed and to help you get your Christmas shopping done early.

Shopping Conscientiously During BFCM

While companies like Patagonia might, ironically, encourage boycotting shopping, some producers use it to promote awareness and strengthen good initiatives.

Jack Wolfskin is doing something interesting, offering 30% sitewide and committing to donate 100% of sales generated on Tuesday, November 28th following Cyber Monday to the Conservation Alliance.

Find the Weekend Duffel for A Great Friday Escape

It’s hard not to appreciate Peak Design’s…. well, design. They’re offering up to 30% off everyday bags, including their duffels, and travel backpacks which we’ve reviewed very positively.

Other brands offer some appealing gear worth considering for Christmas vacation. Use the REI link to get up to 20% off duffel backpacks like Patagonia’s Black Hole.

BFCM Deals on The North Face Backpacks

Win up to 40% off the normal price of these backpacks that make a lot of sense for serial use to school or work. The Borealis is a versatile pack that can be used for more technical, weekend trips, while the Jester, Surge and Vault or similar urban drivers with comfort and good organization.

Some brands won’t openly promote Black Friday or Cyber Monday deals. They strive to offer a different way of appealing to consumers. For example, instead of offering deals, Patagonia points customers to their ethical products regarding sustainability and durability. The Refugio 26 liter pack is one example.

Similarly, despite recently opting out of Black Friday to give their employees the holiday weekend off, REI offers up to 30% off of a wide range of backpacks, many of which we’ve tested and reviewed on our backpack review guide.

A Travel-Friendly Water Bottle

There’s a reason more and more people are using a water bottle. Insulated stainless steel products for morning coffee are as important as being BPA-free. These are some great products with good Black Friday Cyber Monday savings.

Highlights include $11 (Amazon) for the Camelbak with the Chute Mag lid, one of our favorites for driving and quickly hydrating on the run. The Hydro Cell and Iron Flask bottles are also available at interesting discounts.

There’s not a deal to be had on the Nalgene Tritan wide mouth, but this Made in USA bottle is inexpensive and a really good one.

Black Friday Deals on Sling Bags & Fanny Packs

Slings and cross-body bags are a hot item this year and sure to make a great gift for nearly anyone on your list.

Herschel, the popular fashion brand, is offering 30% off sitewide this Black Friday and Cyber Monday. That includes 50% off the spartan Fourteen Fanny Pack.

Meanwhile a Cotopaxi fanny pack can be had with 25% savings.

Black Friday Gym Bag Deals for Fitness & Overnighting

Puma is currently offering 30% off sale items as well as up to an additional 50% off for training gear like gym bags.

A similar active brand Adidas is offering up to 70% off sitewide with discount code “SAVINGS,” including a whopping 30% off one of their top selling gym bags. The Diablo can be had for $21 on Amazon too.

While the term ‘Black Friday’ was coined in the 50s, either for stores going from the red into the black, or for the pandemonium following the Army-Navy college football match, we know it for the hysteria around finding savings.

Shop Smart During BFCM

On Black Friday, practically every store has a sale sign in their storefront window. To keep your sanity and get the best discounts, we highly recommend going in with a list of items and sticking to it as best you can.

The same can be said for Cyber Monday. It’s overwhelming, but it’s also exciting to be able to get the gear for that trip, that bag for the commute or that gift for your loved one. Part of that gift can also be a sustainable product, so keep that in mind.

Set a budget for yourself so you don’t go too overboard with your spending, and stay on top of your inbox to know what your favorite brands are offering – often there are exclusive deals for returning shoppers. Shop early, shop smart and shop with a clear-cut plan and you’re certain to have a successful Black Friday experience.
